  1. Scorcher really is good! Maybe a new coaster next year can bring you back . . .
  2. Be careful what you ask for . . .
  3. 60 minute show about frozen > 3 hour plus wait to meet the characters from frozen. I'm a show man so I guess I have no problem at all sitting thru a 60 minute theme park show. Neither does my feet!
  4. ^ You are definetly a piece of work . . .
  5. I don't know if I watched the same video as you two but it was definitely not as bad as you both are saying. For a theme park production, it wasn't bad at all. Hear the audience get bored? Lol I heard the audience laughing, cheering, booing and applauding when the moment called for it. The "silence" during the show is people actually paying attention to what is going on. I wouldn't constitute that as being "bored". The sets, costumes, special effects are all wonderful and the way they told the story was great. Keep in mind, this is a show for kids and adults alike. If anyone goes into this expecting Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserable or Cats should really get a grip on reality and realize you're in a theme park lol. I feel this show is gonna get as great as a reception as Aladdin and will pull more people into DCA. While watching Aladdin, I never heard as much crowd reactions as I just did on this video and when you did here it, it was basically for the genie (and more so after Robin Williams died). Basically, I think the park did a great thing by replacing Aladdin with this if it had to be replaced by something.
  6. You know, by mentioning it . . . you already published it.
  7. here's hopes that its on a regular operating schedule by next friday.
  8. No Kentucky kingdom?!?!?!? Its right between Dollywood and Kings Island.
  9. Sorry for the delay . . . Last wednesday was the media preview for Carolina Harbor, the worlds largest Carolina themed water park and I was there on behalf of TPR! Ok, the park isn't going by that bill but I figured it had to be right?? Anyway, a lot has changed . . . I mean A LOT! Lets just get to the pictures. Coming in the park from the employee entrance, the first thing encountered was Myrtle Turtle beach. Lets see how it compares to the concept art . . . To me, Myrtle Turtle Beach is an area for infants and small toddlers but fear not, for those toddlers that are a little too big for that area there is Kitty Hawk Cove. That area is a little more geared to those toddlers who like to climb more and even has a set of 2 jr size water slides! Check out some of the theming! Next up, Harbor House. Concept art for comparison. I have to say, this little pocket of the water park seems like a great "break" zone. There will also be a full service bar right in the middle of the water park. Here's your light house. . . lol. Which also doubles as a refreshment spot well it also triples are the cabana rental spot as well. ooouuuhhhh . . . They were getting things set up for the media day festivities! The new 8ft deep wave pool, Surf Harbor Club. Concept art. Hummm . . . The park also built another full size, in addition of expanding the original, bath house. The star of the expansion! For comparisons sake. A group of us were able to take on the slides before the actual media day . . . where no attractions were open. I am a fanatic for the drop box slides so naturally I think the new slide tower was an amazing addition! Also, to place it right at the front of the new entrance near the road is great marketing. We were only dropping from the yellow slide, which I think is the shortest. Lets get some above ground shots . . . I'd say one of the most awesome water park signage! Some more theming. Oh! Now this would make a great upcharge! Someone called the band? Carowinds filled in the oldest wave pool and created Seaside Splashworks. That's one HUGE bucket! What is it with Carowinds and their snakes (the other one is in the background lol) Be right back! Ok back with even better weather, now it's officially time for media day! The park now has these cool signs all around, even in the water park! Love the water feature at the new pool. I can say, Carowinds always gets some really good live entertainment for every event. I was tempted to spike it lol lol (not really). Up first, the parks GM, Brad Marcy. Followed by John Taylor . . . Then Laresa Thompson. Alright, lets open this place . . . with bubbles! Oh, and a man floating in the air by water jets. Lets not forget fireworks! Time to eat! Carowinds has really stepped their game up in the food department. Despite the most recent trip report on here , the food at Carowinds is considered some of the best at a chain park and its unique because it focuses on the local cuisine. So lets salivate together . . . Licking your screen? Lets move on for a final look at some things . . . I have to say, the Carolina Harbor really has a personality of its on, separate from the park. This was consider a good option at one point lol. I vote to make this little area an adults area with a bar! Instead of a wading area for geese . . . Looks nice doesn't? Carolina Harbor is one of the few water parks I have been to that isn't just a concrete pad. Thunder Road has now become just . . . a road. I have to say, Carowinds has proven that by providing some TLC a little can go a long way. I encourage you all to head to Carowinds and spend some time in Carolina Harbor as it is worth the visit alone!
  10. Carolina Harbor is a giant step in the right direction for Carowinds! More pictures soon . . .
  11. Haha . . . thats Pete, the PR guy at the park (and who occasionally post on here)! I'm sure his wife feels the same way as you!
  12. Whoa! Clicked on this thread and it took me back to 2010 so quite naturally I need to post some pictures!
  13. Your post is misleading. You are making it seem it is a 150 between single and park to park for ONE person when the difference is only 50 dollars. So yes, quite naturally it will be 150 for three people. So you say you could see if the difference would be 25 or even 50 when in fact it IS 25 for one day and 50 for two total days. So what's your problem again???
  14. Wait . . . This happen 7 years ago? When you were 9??? Where we're YOUR parents???
  15. When I think dive coaster for wof, I think a eurofighter.
  16. Well in WOF's defense, the new PR just started a few months ago. The previous girl who held the position did next to nothing Ah. I see. I hope WOF's PR will continue to improve. I really do hope WOF does get a new roller coaster next year. It's more than needed. It was announced a few months ago that two flat rides a Huss Troika and a Huss Condor were purchased used in Europe and will be installed at WoF. While those might not be the only additions I doubt it will include a coaster as well. Typically you do not install both flat rides and a coaster in the same park in the same year. When are we gonna learn there are no underwritten rules to parks as far as how capital investments are handled and what they get. Remember, there is someone new at the helms. A lot of the norm has been broken under this new regime and I love it!
  17. And why couldnt this have gone in the sea world thread???
  18. You must have missed the plans for cga's future . . .
  19. I'm confused. What is your question?
  20. Why can't they have that plus a new one? I don't know many dark rides that people drive a great distance for at any park so I doubt the ROI would not be worth the time and effort to redo this attraction and put another in its place.
  21. Isn't the only one in the US is at Universal studios Orlando when it comes to in the park?
  22. I dunno. During the dark years, the Carowinds folks just took it in stride. Remember, Carowinds has taken more losses than the average park ; flume, flat rides, sternwheeler, island in the middle and a couple coasters. I can't recall people acting like the folks in here. Now, as far as Carowinds being a soul-less corporate park . . . I can't make that bold of a statement being the effort for the last several years have been to go back to the roots of celebrating the Carolinas with Carolina harbor, Carolina inspired food festivals, bringing back original names to the park (harmony hall, blackbeard's revenge) and revamping the food offerings to reflect the Carolina style. So yeah, I don't know if I'd use soul-less corporate park to describe Carowinds.
