Ahhhhhh . . . I remember the days when a flag showed up at a park and the first thing people said was "I hope it's a Beemer". Now it's RMC's turn. Let's forget the fact that GCI is rebuilding another coaster in the Cedar fair chain, as well as rebuilt another one in the chain in the past. So why would anyone think rmc? -

The only thing an airline and dollywood has in common is they both are businesses and the comparison ends there. Anyway, it looks like the season pass payment option has been extended till the 26! So if anyone hasn't gotten one, and has a US form of payment, I would take advantage of it! -

If you are talking about me, I never said I was going on opening weekend. You haters jumped into that conclusion and started judging my "poor trip planning" - which is not so poor by the way As I stated before, being able to ride Lightning Rod or not was not the main reason I complained about the park (It took me 3 trips to CP until I could finally ride Dragster - and that was years after the ride opened). Same with SFMM's Deja Vu, which I only managed to ride on the last year of operation, after maybe 3 or 4 failed attempts the years before. If I can ride Lightning Rod on this trip, great, since it seems like it will be a top 10 coaster. However that doesn't change the fact that I still don't have a ticket to the park, since i can't purchase them online and that they still haven't replied a message I sent via their website 2 weeks ago. Haters????? Is that what we call people who don't agree with our negative outlook on things? And since you seem to edit your posts soooooo much, it's hard to know what you were making a big deal about. Your initial post was bitching about flying 6000 miles to ride kiddie coasters gives the notion you were going opening weekend since that's the only days the park has said the coaster wouldn't be open so far. You went back to edit your post to say you were not coming opening weekend. For you to be an ACE rep, one would think you of all people would understand the way things could go with new coasters and being a foreign traveler, understand every park may not have the capability to do the same transactions via their website. Get to the park first. Before you got all dramatic and considered dollywood to have OMG the worst customer service, see what could be done in person. Maybe I'm wrong for thinking that being an ACE rep and a person who travels frequently, you would have a better understanding of these situations. -

Wait . . . So one of the main people in here complaining about the coaster not being ready for opening weekend, as they have planned to travel thousands of miles to experience lightning rod, isn't arriving to the park until the 3rd week of operations?????? The fact that they have been testing leads me to think it's not a huge problem , operational wise, but something we will never probably know like just needed more time to fine tune it. -

I ENJOYED! I guess I'm different how can I get my minute plus of life back? Are you trolling now? You can't be serious. It's all dollywood's fault. You don't see yourself at fault for haphazardly planning a trip so far out without a 100% guarantee the coaster would be even finish construction. If you are the enthusiasts you claim to be then you would know that anything can happen before a ride opens. The issue is we live in a time of self entitlement. Me me me . . . The world revolves around me me me.it's as if dolly herself promised some of you personally she will hammer and nail the coaster herself just to make sure it will be ready just for you. We all need to face reality and realize we will not be launching from 0-45 on opening day. Maybe I have cool friends. All who were planning to go are still going regardless being the park is great without having lightning run ready. -

Maybe there are different degrees of "sloppy" but this was definitely not one of them. Say 2 weeks ago they announced it wasn't gonna be ready. Then 3 days before opening they announced it would be ready. You'd still find people complaining. I guess being optimistic isn't always a good thing. -

As someones who works with international customers and deals with a payment system that can and will reject international credit cards, I can tell you it's frustrating for all parties but it 100% does not mean I am nor the people of Dollywood are giving you terrible customer service. I have found with any issue minor or frustrating I have had with bookings and various things with Dollywood their staff have always gone above and beyond to fix the issue or be helpful. - First the website doesn't take foreign credit cards - Then you decide to call, and there's only a 1-800 number, so you need to add Skype credits in order to make this call - The woman on the phone doesn't know why all my 5 credit cards were declined -They can't process a season pass in 6 easy payments over the phone, nor at the ticket office, Only online. - You can't message them through their Facebook page - It takes them 10 days to reply a message sent via their website - which by the way, they still haven't. If that's not terrible customer services, I don't know what is! I think you are failing to remember dollywood is not an international parl. It's not even a national park. How many people do you think, outside of the US, is clamoring to buy a season pass for them to have an international commerce site? Not once did you mention the people were rude to you or anything of that nature. That would be terrible customer service. I really don't foresee them making any changes to their current system. If you visit the US enough, I would personally suggest getting a US bank account where you can easily transfer your money into and out of to use for said purchases. -

I'm not part of that we as my life is faaaaarrr from shifty lol. That could be the reason why a lot of enthusiasts are a-holes. Anyway . . . if you consider the coasters at dollywood kiddie then I feel the trip is a waste even if lightning rod was ready. I hope this is a lesson learn to everyone. As its been said everytime this happens , stop trying to be first and start being smart. The coaster will still be there after the first day so no need to rush. -

You think it's "perfect" to wait until three days before opening to announce something that's been pretty apparent to anyone watching for a couple weeks? While we all conceded that there was a *possibility* that the ride might make it, all signs pointed toward a slight delay. No testing videos, no reports of endless cycling, not even a second train on the track until yesterday. I have no doubt that they all wanted, hoped and wished that this thing could be up by Friday but that was always the long shot and they should never have planned media days on Thursday, a "grand opening" countdown to the ride on the weekend and even a coaster club event with Lightning Rod ERT on Saturday. That's just crazy for any new ride let alone a prototype trying to open in mid March! (And yes this is a prototype. It's velocity magnets first launch) There's been almost no sign of serious testing. Meanwhile Dollywood got on the news YESTERDAY trying to drum up opening day business by talking about the new ride. Pretty convenient to cancel with under 72 hours to go before pass holder day. I'm sure it's not just a coincidence that the cancellation refund policy at their fancy new resort is 72 hours in advance. No, the "perfect" thing to do would be to set a Grand Opening and media day in mid April and allow for a little bit of buffer. If the ride soft opens, great! That's a bonus perk. Say "lightning rod, coming later this spring" on the news instead of getting the GP excited. They don't follow the construction like us and they wouldn't have any reason to expect it to be closed based on what the park put forth. Pretty shameful. I can't think of a time when a park was so sloppy about handling the delay of a major attraction. Shameful? Sloppy??? Words I would never have imagine being used to describe dollywood! As much as you and others may want to deny it. This is a prototype coaster. New technology being used. Forget the fact that this is a unique situation that has never happen at dollywood I feel that you are really taking your criticism to an all time low whenn the park has one of the best track record of opening day debuts for new attractions -

I'd rather have them take the time to get it right vs trying to open it early to please the same people who would sue if something were to go wrong. -
