  1. I was under the impression the poster was referencing the I-beam track style, as they mention supports and i-beam as separate things.
  2. Its for a little of everything, except a dark ride. the park is preparing for the eventual growth of the infrastructure so they are moving some outfits into bigger locations and re-purposing others for other stuff. It's a lot going on inside and outside the park! Speaking of outside the park . . . There is a Wendy' s at the entrance and they seem to be stuck in a time warp lol.
  3. Today Carowinds invited the media back out for an off season update. In case you didn't know, Carowinds is in the process of almost doubling their water park as well as installing the world's first intra-active 3D attraction based off the Plants Vs. Zombies video game franchise as well as debuting a Theme park based Cirque Imagine show. So, lets get on to the pictures. This view use to be different not too long ago. While the park is busy transforming things inside, they are also preparing for the future outside. After a short drive to the south gate, the parks PR manager, Laresa Thompson, gave us a briefing about the tour. Not too long ago, this lot was full of water slide parts! First up, Plants Vs. Zombies! As you see, not much is changing as far as the building itself. So aside from some cosmetic changes, its the same interior. Once all the seats are installed, it will bring the total to 64 with an hourly capacity of 600-700. A Pre-POV! The park is coming alive this time of year. This area . . . Will soon be filled with these. Well, we know at least one coaster is ready for 2016! Moving on to the Starbucks . . . You're currently looking at what took just 3 weeks! I have to say, it looks nice so far. But it clashes with the art deco design of the other buildings. Hopefully they will be revamped soon. Still a ways to go inside. Just looking at the plans gave me confidence that I could complete the project all by myself! I cant wait until it opens! And if you're in the area and looking for a job. At the speed they are going, the will be finish in no time. They have to wrap the mouths of all their Dinos so they would all attack themselves as they experience cabin fever in the winter. Something is missing? The park decided to get rid of its mini golf. Let's head into Boom . . . err . . .that's gotta change lol. Virtually every inch of the water park got new paint. Hard to believe those slides are as old as they are. This new, awesome looking play structure is taking over the original wave pool's spot. Looking back at the plot, once the stage and mini golf was removed, it sure did open up a lot of space . . . say for a family raft slide??? More revived slides. The old bath house is getting gutted out to feature only restrooms . . . And the rear is getting new changing facilities. Doesn't look like much compared to the new one right? Even the play area for very small kids are getting new elements as well as extended family restrooms. The park added this last year. Cool touches like these are awesome. A new path will be made here to get to the newer area. These were added barely 2 years ago, and new ones are already at the park! The star of the new expansion! The complex is about 90% complete. Here is the new pool. It will be geared towards teens and adults with its 8ft depth and much larger waves. There should also be party cabanas over here as well. Looking back towards the new water park entrance. The highlight of the tour for me, the new bar will be right there! Just look at the color POP! The new eatery, Harbor House is said to serve carolina inspired dishes, especially seafood. It will feature 2 covered seating area. Last but not least a look at the basically completed new bath house. 2016 is sure to be a great year at Carowinds as they surpassed their attendance goals last year with the addition of Fury 325. With the largest water park in the carolinas, the world's first intra-active 3D gaming experince Plants Vs. Zombies and a great Cirque show this is sure to be another record setting year!
  4. I would personally LOVE one of those MVR/Gravity Group woodies to show up at the park. They seem like good traditional wooden coaster fun! Or they can contact RMC to remake the crystal beach cyclone!
  5. I would wager a revamp of the county fair section where the majority (3 - wave swinger, top scan and music express) of the flats would go and other improvements. I would even say some pluses to planet snoopy as well, with the breakdance going over there. I wouldn't count on another water park expansion just yet. It's kinda too early to call it for 2017 other than the flats. All speculation of course . . .
  6. And the scare actors in the queue. Those too. http://screamscape.com/html/islands_of_adventure.htm#Kong Check out the 2/27/16 post. They are getting "entertainers" that we can assume will be the natives. Wonder if they will be in the queue or actually in the ride? You quoted your answer . . .
  7. The park has confirmed 2017. Im glad because its a lot coming this year and 5 rides is nothing to just throw in. That's a gigantic, stand alone expansion itself!
  8. Is it possible for this thread to be moved to the theme parks, roller coasters and donkeys section? Vegas is like a theme park for adults with its rides, shows and unique experiences? And there's been an influx of vegas questions topics popping up (and I would have loved to discover this thread before my trip lol)
  9. If you're hoping for those 5 new European flats, that's most likely out of the question. Carolina Harbor not being open yet but being featured on the map could very well confuse and anger some of the less intelligent guests. Speaking of those flats, where could they go? Doesn't sound like he was hoping the flats would show up. Just saying we may see seasonal park maps now vs just one for the entire year and the fact the mini golf is pretty much gone.
  10. No mini golf! I'm shocked . . .
  11. lol . . . here some more solid info from Universals blog The video says you will meet Kate McKalfrey and her team. Now, to what extent you meet them is unknown to me but it seems you're not gonna be along on this journey. It may something similar to what Poseidon's fury is like.
  12. The old Kong used to break down. A lot. The tore it down a decade ago. Deal with it Got to love it when a 15 year old waste of space tells you to deal with it, where you off your mothers tit when it closed or still in nappies? ^That was quite rude condescending and kinda unnecessary . . . From what I have read, I think you will see a pepper ghost driver or a shadow of one. Also, the video they posted says once you're in the temple you will meet some people.
  13. There is another, the wicked spoon, inside the cosmopolitan (which is a goooooooooorgeous hotel and have a stunning casino floor) that is about 40 for dinner, but the selection isn't as great as the bachannsl but still lots of culinary delights that you won't find at a buffet anywhere else.
  14. It is?52. Well worth it when you look at typical prices of dinners in vegas.
  15. As mention before, Pinks is great! Whenever I can eat at one I do! Heres a menu . . . and here's what I had . . . Also, if you want a variety, I highly suggest the bacchanal buffet at Caesars Palace. You can get there at lunch time like 230 and pay that price Here is what I had and I only paid 40.00. People actually pay for drinks in vegas? I paid for one drink and that was at the Cirque KA. I got all my drinks from playing the .25 cents computer black jack right at the bar at ever casino. Just put 5.00 dollars in the bartender will immediately ask what you are drinking, just tip at least a dollar, BAM, your drinks are free . . . kinda. Whatever you do, check these guys out here Best kept secret!! I got Mariah Carey tickets, 20 rows from the stage for JUST 99 dollars, when regular price was 197.00. I also got Cirque Soile KA tickets for 90.00 and I was about the same distance from the stage (of course different venue) for 90.00 vs the 167.00. They also have discount food places and other entertainment. Dont miss Manhattan express. It isn't as bad as people say, well it wasn't as bad a few weeks ago. I'd rather ride it than Ninja at SFoG and its worth the price. Vegas is expensive period so don't skip it due to price. I spent a lot of time walking around lots of hotels/resorts. They are mini cities themselves!
  16. Can you provide us some examples? To support your facpinion?
  17. Did you read the original article, the one the observer quoted? That's where they got their line up from.
  18. So, after a day of SFA (08/08/15) I decided to spend an evening at Kings Dominion. And since I knew it would be impossible to get night rides on this tomorrow . . . Sigh . . . Just look at it. But im really here for this! The next morning, 08/09/15, I went back to the park for a full day. If course there is a problem with this one. Love arriving early to the parks for some tranquil moments like this. There it is . . . Tada! I haven't been on it since the re-profile. Gotta love these early morning lines. That woke me up! Since im kinda hungry I decided to get some food. Not a good decision lol. Awwwwww. . . Time to get my last ride. R.I.P. Shockwave. Moving right along, its time for some water park fun! Hi Carowinds! New this (last) year was an awesome slide tower . . . coming to a Cedar Fair park near you. Its more intermediate and thrill slides oriented. I LOVE drop floor slides. It's about the only way I will ride a speed slide. Also a nice place to get some good views of Intimidator 305. Lets check out the rest of the water park. I was excited to find some dole whip! Since I have a Plat pass, I figured I might as well check out DIno alive since I had time until the cirque show . . . Always has been a nice little coaster. Grit your teeth . . . oh wait They are about to experience thu . . . nevermind. I am gonna kinda miss thunder road. ooooouuuhhhhh . . . Ahhhhhhhhhh. . . These are some of the best looking, to me, theme park shirts! Unfortunetly, none of the other parks had one like it.
  19. Strange thing in Southern Cal is Spring Break seems to go on and on forever and every school seems to be on different schedule. Don't worry whatever day you come it will be crowded as you just cant win. Rent a car... Why not when Hotwire has them as low as $12.30 per day plus taxes. Alamo is onsite at Burbank and makes for easy pick up and drop off. LAX lord have mercy on your soul and your on your own. Shuttle from your local hotel (which one?) sounds great and you will avoid parking fees of $20 at SFMM. As best I know none of the Valencia hotels charge for self parking. do not . . .I repeat DO NOT rent from them! They are not legit car rental places, they are the equivalent to the yelling car sales man on commercials. I made the mistake of going with them because they were "cheaper" and ended up putting up a 300.00 deposit plus a surcharge per day since I used my debit card to make the transaction. On top of that, it wasn't a newer model car! If you do rent a car, go with a national brand.
  20. Finally. Everyone was on pins and needles in anticipation.
  21. I'm sure someone at the parliament house has a task that'll pay kinda good!
  22. It's funny when people say Cedar Fair is done with Intamin's. This could not be further from the truth. I know first hand that Cedar Fair is still considering Intamin's for many of their parks. What makes you so sure of that?
