  1. My favorite lap bars are the old fassion "one-click" style which is featured on mainly PTC trains and NAD trains.
  2. ^ They've actualy decreased the length of the new/old train. It used to be 4 cars, but now it's only 3 cars. One might wonder about capacity, yet they're is able to afford the lost of the 4th car because of the park's attendance figures. Someday they'll have to upgrade it all so it can handle the loads the coaster was made for.
  3. I'll answer your questions first, these trains are really luxurious when it comes to coaster trains. They are really the Rolls Royce of coaster trains, but they're much heavier than PTC trains, so they can tend to be more rough, but IMO it means more fun! The trains won't work on coasters like The Raven, but I'm not sure. The only coasters I know that use them are the Thunderbolt (Kennywood) and the Blue Streak (Conneaut Lake Park) and their track designs are rather "sprawled" out, meaning that the trains can't handle tight turns like The Raven. Unfortunately, NAD has been out of business for a long time now and their trains are truely gems. Hopefully the parks that own these trains continue to use them.
  4. Well since it's an airtime hill classification, it leaves Kennywood's Jackrabbit out which IMO delivers the best airtime, but since it occurs during it's double dip, well nevermind. I guess that leaves me with the Phantom's Revenge which has awesome airtime in it's grand finale. I know alot of you are really sick and tired of me talking about Kennywood and how great it is, but I've been to other parks besides Kennywood believe it or not! Cedar Point, Busch Gardens Europe, and Hershey Park come to mind and their coasters are great and all, but the Phantom is by far my favorite.
  5. I hate Kennywood's topspin (King Kahuna) because they do run the tamest settings on it and they don't even run the water effects they installed on it. I know they did the first season and it was alot of fun, but it just sucks now. Anyway I heard Geauga Lake's TopSpin is great, so I guess I'll be looking to ride it someday.
  6. I know Conneaut is using those old NAD trains for "backup" and/or spare parts, but have they ever considered selling the cars on Ebay or something. They could make some decent $ from them.
  7. Yea, most Vekomas brake too hard (Boomerangs come to mind), but a more "harsher landing" coaster would have to be the Sooper Dooper Looper at Hershey Park. That coaster brakes way too hard...
  8. My favorite Vekoma is X-Flight at Geauga Lake, it was pretty good the last time I rode it.
  9. ^ I wouldn't ride that thing even if it was open because I think I'd be too big to ride it. I'd probably tip the whole thing over or get stuck in the tube of death. Bummer about the Ultimate Trip, that was my favorite Scrambler anywhere...
  10. ^^ It's the attack of the water dummies! I seem so close to this park, yet I'm so far away. I just wish I lived on the other side of PA, so a trip to this park doesn't sound as long. Eh, I'll eventually get to it someday...
  11. Haha, "Pocket Rockets" now I can definately see one of these going to Kennywood, oh yea.
  12. Cool TR, is the Blue Streak's turn any smoother now because of the new wood? I'm just glad things are looking up for them, even if projects are incomplete. Btw, I didn't see you mention the indoor scrambler which is called the Amazing Trip or something, is that still there?
  13. I know the coasters at Kennywood park get greased up everyday. I do mean everyday, I swear that when the trains dis-engage from the lift hill, grease splatters over everybody.
  14. So that's where the other Screamin' Swing went Pretty cool TR Guy, I like your wife's shirt, The Boondock Saints are freakin' sweet.
  15. Haha cool, the more posts I read, the more of a Millennium Force/Steel Force topic this becomes. Oh those silly Morgan trains. I guess everybody in the industry had their share of problems with lift motors, chains, wheel assemblies, cars comming off the track . Haha, I'm just so glad Kennywood is different and has the Morgan smoothness without the Morgan hassle. All Morgan coasters should be fitted with the Arrow chassis , but anyway. The Millenium Force has definately broken down before and more dramatically I think (I recall a snapped cable being involved), yet all parks go through the trouble of having to deal with "oversea" companies like Intamin, B&M, Zamperla, Reverchon, Maurer Söhne, Gerstlauer, Vekoma, Schwarzkopf, TOGO, etc. For example, it usually takes a long time for Kennywood to get parts for it's Pitt Fall (Intamin drop ride), so more often than not, a car or even two cars are down for months, if not the entire summer. Well... what else is new?
  16. I'm siked about this coaster aswell. You know, Waldameer is always a work in progress. They're always talking about expansion and they definately have potential in becomming a main competitor for Geauga Lake. I just hope Cedar Fair doesn't buy Waldameer.... Edit: Hey, I found something interesting on a FUNWORLD Magazine website. This is going to be a very big "family" ride I guess.
  17. It's hard to see anything in those screenshots, Ole is doing a good job of teasing everybody, lol. Anyway, if I had to guess at what new track design that these screenshots represent, it'll be the 4D track design because the unusual looking wheel assembly in the first picture... the second picture can represent one of train's center sections... then the third picture, those look like headreasts, but what puzzles me is the track-like shadow infront of the seats. Ofcourse the 4D trains run on the outside of the track, not infront, so I don't know.
  18. A little piece of home.... Racer was my first and will always be my favorite.
  19. Lol, I think Cedar Fair let the "second oldest park in the world" thing get to their heads. I mean seriously, I see no reason whatsoever to purchase these parks, other than to gain real estate. I mean come on. I just don't like the direction this is going in. Not just because Six Flags went through the same problem, but because I really thought that Cedar Fair was different. I guess not, I mean take a look at Kennywood. They had the opportunity to buy some parks that were located around Western PA and they didn't want to because it doesn't make sense to compete with themselves. Sandcastle, Idlewild, and Lake Compounce are exceptions due to their target consumers and locations. Kennywood=families Sandcastle=teenagers Idlewild=young toddlers, infants, and pre-teens Lake Compunce=families I'm just hoping Cedar Fair knows what they're doing because I don't think they do.
  20. I like the "build your own rides and mini-games" feature because that's the one thing that I wanted Chris Sawyer to put in his games and didn't. Anyway, so far it's RCT3ish, but I'm guessing it's still in the early developement stage, so we have to wait and see what becomes of this.
  21. Nice to see another TPR member at Kennywood on opening day. Instead of doing another topic, Here are some pictures from my visit. I'm going to post some of my favorite pictures... Phantom breaking down! Lauren and I the loading area for the SwingShot SwingShot in action in the night the new green train on Jackrabbit
  22. ^ Ditto! Haha, don't try to sneak a Kennywood topic past me. Um one thing to point out is that the Swing Around that is usually on top of the Garden Stage... It won't be there this season, infact the whole area was kinda transformed into a High Dive act, so who knows if the Swing Around will ever return. Also, our Bayern Kurve is going to be absent for awhile, sorry guys =( .
  23. Haha, freakin' sweet trip report you got there. I'll be heading out towards Hershey in June when I see the Dave Mathews Band. I'll be giving you my "Non-Wasted" Report for DMB since I'm not old enough to drink alcohol. Well atleast I get to go to Hershey and get fat!
