  1. I've always thought about doing a contest in a real life setting. If you're not quite grasping what I'm proposing; let me try to explain: -Someone (I'm volunteering myself if nobody wants it) should make an "EMPTY" No Limits park where boundaries are placed, where cost is put into effect. For Example; lets say this small fictional park puts a $7 million dollar budget for a new coaster, but prices will be different for each coaster and coaster segment used. Like for a wooden coaster: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wooden Coaster: (Car Type) x (Number of Cars) x (Number of Trains) ($12,500/PTC 6 Seater Car) x (4 Cars) x (2 Trains) = $50,000 Track: $1000/ft (5,230ft) x ($1000) = $5,230,000 Station: $10,000/ft (60ft) x ($10,000) = $600,000 *Note: No extra charge for Pre-Brake usage, so I recommend you all start using gravity to your advantage. Transports: (These prices are also addons to Station and Brake segments if they are added) $2,000/ft for Tires $10,000/ft for LIMS (Neither Transports Were Put On This Coaster) *Note: No points are taken off for using transport Tires and/or LIMS, but it can possibly take too much money away from your budget! Lift: $1,500ft (Chain Only) (175ft) x ($1,500) = $262,500 Brake: $5000/ft (175ft) x ($5,000) = $875,000 Original Budget = $7,000,000 Total Cost = $7,017,500 Debt = $17,500 *During the judging process; your coaster will lose 50% of it's score if it goes anywhere in the red. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok, so my fictional coaster went over budget . That's what I'm thinking for this competition. Ofcourse there will be zoning restrictions, local authorities, and etc., so it's going to vary between each contest, as the park changes. Just like in real life! Tell me what you think guys...
  2. I'm up for it, but how are we going to do this?
  3. For me, the Phantom's Revenge is still up there at number one.
  4. Well actually, the politically correct way to do a Boomerang breakdown is to have the train get stuck in the boomerang of the ride. It doesn't matter though since you're doing a pretty good job presenting this park to the world. Nice work...
  5. Yes it sucks whenever these fires happen. Especially to older parks because that's how we lose great coasters (IE:Idora Park Wildcat and such). However it isn't just fire I'm worried about; last year, somebody stole about $15,000 worth of alcohol and liqour from the Beach Club, so you all know how that would hurt their business. It's a shame...
  6. I made this coaster a couple of years ago, when I was still a member at CoasterForce. God knows why they deleted my account. Anyway this coaster is really meant to be an out of control kind of coaster. It's scary because it comes very close to what Hades is like! So I hope you all enjoy this woodie that happens to be taller than Goliath at SFMM. What the hell was I thinking? ***Sorry Robb, I had no idea that the track file was going to be that big. I'm zipping it up now.*** Update... It's fixed now. the ominous first drop HollowHorseman.zip the new .zip file
  7. I think only Vekoma and Arrow coasters do that (http://www.rcdb.com/ig104.htm?picture=3), but Schwarzkopf, Intamin, etc. all use different crossties throughout the course of their coasters. http://www.rcdb.com/ig240.htm?picture=5 http://www.rcdb.com/ig28.htm?picture=1 and ya, Intamin uses 3 types of track styles on one of it's newest coasters... http://www.rcdb.com/ig2905.htm?picture=23 Most manufacturers only do it if it is a high stress area since it would cost more money for more steel, but sometimes it's just random.
  8. Haha awesome show... "We want to talk about how horny you want to get on a coaster?" Phantom can be a horny coaster .
  9. ^^ Haha yea, I think you're right, but it was my first project and I was going for that abstract look anyways. I'm not sure if you noticed, but if you look at the top right building and lower right cars and you'll notice that I was going for a cartoon like look. The same idea goes for the black and white backround.
  10. So I take Computer Multimedia at North Allegheny High School (NASH) and we get to do some cool things with the Photoshop program. One guy I know made the following picture. I thought he did a pretty good job, even though those pictures aren't original. It's purely for educational purposes, so I don't think rcdb.com will care. I hope you guys like it, but I'm trying the Photoshop program myself. I made the following.... Though it's not a coaster, I thought it turned out pretty cool. I hope we can produce some more pics for you guys. Enjoy...
  11. I love the park, but I don't think a Six Flags is possible in Pittsburgh because we lack the flatness for all the common SF clones, unless they bought the old Allegheny County Airport!
  12. Here's something else you all should be interested in. Kennywood threatens to sue West Mifflin Turns out Kennywood has been paying 100% of West Mifflin's amusement tax since 1999!
  13. Thanks man; I really appreciate it.
  14. No, this isn't an Intamin rocket coaster, but that doesn't mean that this coaster is slow . Rocket Coaster is the third wooden coaster in this series which includes: Lost & Found, Jeeters' Coaster, and ofcourse Rocket Coaster. I built Rocket Coaster because "Lost & Found" and "Jeeters' Coaster" lacked what each other had. Plus I haven't seen too many "Out and Backs" in a long time, so this should be a nice change of pace. Enjoy Rocket Coaster... Note: The bridge on the coaster is there for a reason. In real life that track would fall apart in seconds, so with my knowlege of truss work and such, I thought it was necessary to put that in since there was not enough support underneath the track to keep it up. The same goes for the extra truss work I put above the turn right before the lift hill. The first turnaround One of many hills by the lake... The second turnaround area... bridge... 15. Pittsburgh Pirates-Home of the 2006 All Star Games next year and yea it floods here in pittsburgh :? pnc park at night pnc park at sunset pnc park in the day time main gate
  16. This year was meh, but the chosen parks made up for the lack of numberes. Kennywood Cedar Point Waldameer (Water World section since we did the regular area last year)
  17. ^ Disaster Transport isn't a mistake because it didn't fit in (who said Cedar Point was a theme park anyways?), it's a mistake because it's a horrible ride to begin with.
  18. Ahem... The reason why Arrow was making mistakes like that is that they were really the only company doing what they were doing at the time with exception to Schwarzkopf. IMHO Arrow made some kick ass coasters, regardless of what people say. Ofcourse history shows that anybody who goes beyond what is considered "normal" (IE: Galileo) is considered nuts, so Arrow ofcourse is beaten up for the creation and "attempt" to making X and other coasters. It's a shame that they went out of business.
  19. I got this article in the paper the other day and I thought you'll all be interested. It talks about Kennywood and Lake Compounce. http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/search/s_370583.html
  20. ^ You don't even need a system to run one train, just a guy on the Manuel Brake Arms will do the job!
  21. Haha funny POV, you'd think after that Europe trip that Robb and Elissa would never ride another Vekoma.
  22. Pretty cool TR; I'll have to make it that part of the Northeast someday to hit Lake Compounce, SFNE, etc.
  23. Many of you may remember me posting about Jerome Gibas talking about Kennywood on http://www.kpconnection.com at Westcoaster, but it's been awhile since that discussion, so I'd like to update it for everybody. The following quote is from Jerome Gibas and is posted at the Kennywood Connection site on the "Ask The GM" forums. Remember you can read all of his posts and talk to other people about Kennywod if you register. I actualy think Kennywood would be an even more awesome park with another hyper!
  24. I bet most of you are like me when it comes to No Limits. You have tons of coaster files on your system, but you forget to ride the first coaster files that you've created. Today I still have problems with the program, but when I look back on some of the first coasters (aka Death Machines) that I've created. I realized that I've came a long way since then, so I want to see other people's first coasters. Here's my coaster, I really wanted to ride the wonderful SFNE SROS back in the day, but I couldn't so I made my own. There are countless mistakes all over this coaster, but hey, it was my first one so give me a break! I laugh at myself everytime I ride this hunk of junk.
