  1. Did they? Green Lantern is the newest ZacSpin so far.
  2. At first I thought that a slope of 50 degrees meant that was how steep the lift hill would be, but that's unrealistic. It would be at least 100 meters tall!
  3. Here is an example of the latest iteration of the Mondial Shake on the fair circuit...
  4. Unlike Walt Disney World, which is reasonably-close to Orlando, the Disneyland resort is actually pretty far away from the typical "Los Angeles landmarks" such as Hollywood. It's at least a 30-mile / 48 km drive between Hollywood and Disneyland, and Southern California traffic is some of the most congested in the entire United States - even on weekends. It's a short distance, but it may take an hour or two to get to what you want to see in Los Angeles if you are staying at one of Disneyland's hotels. The Disneyland resort experiences insane levels of over-crowding, so three days is probably a good bet if you want to relax and enjoy everything. However, a more economical option may be to experience the Disneyland resort over two days, but add the MaxPass ride reservation system for $10 each day each person. Disneyland's normal reservation system, FastPass, is free to all guests, but MaxPass gives you the luxury of being able to make a reservation for any attraction no matter where you are in either of the parks. Mickey's Halloween Party is a separately-ticketed event, so your normal Disneyland ticket won't be valid, even if you're already in the park. You will basically be asked to leave, and you won't be able to get on any attractions once it starts. As for the other parks in the area, they are all separated in 30 mi / 48 km increments. Knott's is close to Disneyland, Universal Studios is near Hollywood, and Magic Mountain is 30 miles / 48 km north of Hollywood, again with the terrible Southern California traffic. Keep in that mind when you're making your itinerary - you will have to put aside at least a day of traveling each for Magic Mountain and Universal. Knott's is a little different, if you're staying near Disneyland you may be able to go play at Knott's during the day and then pop into Disneyland for the Halloween party.
  5. ^ Was just about to make that reference. S&S builds real coasters, it's just that no one in the U.S. or Europe seems to want them.
  6. It's been removed, thanks for pointing it out.
  7. Thanks for pointing that out, this has been fixed and there should now be only one entry for Joyland, signified by @Joyland. https://coasterpoll.com/@Joyland
  8. Did it lift / drop twice? I was watching a video and the catch car came down really fast and scooped the carriage up almost immediately afterward. Now I kind of want to see more indoor drop towers in tight spaces like that. Imagine what an Intamin Sky Jump would be like! (Side note: very good first post, by the way)
  9. Don't mark it. Green Lantern is different to Chang - different setting, different theme, extra train from Riddler's Revenge, etc.
  10. My top ten, though I admit I'm a bit inexperienced - Phoenix PTC at Knoebels. El Toro Intamin at SFGAdv. Skyrush Intamin at Hersheypark. Phantom's Revenge Morgan at KW. Ravine Flyer II GG at Waldameer. White Lightning GCI at FunSpot. Alpengeist B&M at BGW. Apollo's Chariot B&M at BGW. Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit Maurer at USF. Tennessee Tornado Arrow at Dollywood. Hoping to add Twisted Colossus to that list before I leave the LA area.
  11. I mean, hashtag Splash Mountain at the Magic Kingdom park received lap bars for the 2011 season.
  12. Hello, lovely people that think they know how to drive cars in California. A ramp meter is NOT a stop sign - you are not allowed to go forward until the light turns green. If you go before the light turns green, and then get caught up in traffic and complain about it, keep in mind that YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM.
  13. Yeah, you're hoping for way too much! It's going to very quickly turn into who rode it, who rode it first, and how it's a million times better than any other of the RMC Raptors. Note to any of our readers who don't post at all: PLEASE respect this family's privacy. Honestly, I'm partial to NOT including this one on our coaster poll next year.
  14. Honestly, it sounds like a standard Raptor layout (1,800 feet long, 52 mph, 90-deg drop), so I don't think creepy enthusiasts will be missing too much.
  15. The number one thing you have to get with virtual reality is a stable, consistent, high frame rate, and do so while effectively rendering a 3D scene twice at once. It's never the polygonal models themselves that get sacrificed for quick-and-dirty VR simulations like this one - it's the lighting. The lighting doesn't look necessarily bad, and it wouldn't be out of place in a somewhat-decent video game from the early 2010s. But it's not even close to photo-realistic enough to allow for that suspension of disbelief that virtual reality is supposed to achieve.
  16. It's in my top five steel coasters, if that means anything.
  17. Wait... Alton Towers closes at 4 or 5 PM?
  18. I nearly panicked that it was Särkänniemi's Angry Birds land being removed but it's actually Linnanmäki's. Phew! That little playground has always been in a weirdo spot - I can see some sort of sheltered attraction in old photos of Tulireki, what was there previously? A bumper cars?
  19. I don't remember the old catalogues, but I absolutely remember when Toys R Us' big toy book was the highlight of the year for children. Honestly, the culture of shopping is changing. It's no longer "try before you buy" it's "buy immediately and send back later if it doesn't work". It's happening in the auto industry as well, internet car retailers like Carvana basically sell you a car (which could be up to $50,000) sight-unseen and give you a money back guarantee for a few days if you don't like it.
  20. Update! https://coasterpoll.com/ We should now have all major coasters in all continents around the world on the poll. At the time of this writing, that means that we have a pool of over 1,000 rankable coasters! As a reminder, the list currently includes all roller coasters that are the size of a wild mouse or greater. This means that no Dragon Wagons, no [insert manufacturer here] kids' coasters, no small Tivolis, no Wacky Worms, no small Miler coasters, and no Vekoma roller skaters. Exceptions to this rule are made, of course. If there is a coaster that is missing from the list that should be there, please make your request! When you are ranking, please also keep in mind coasters that share the same name. For example, there are six "Jungle Trailblazer" coasters listed, all at Fantawild parks, that have different layouts. Please be sure to select the correct coaster(s) if you have only been on one or a few. Parks in the same chain that share the same name (such as Happy Valley and Fantawild / Oriental Heritage) have been given regional identifiers right in their titles. We are now soliciting feedback for missing coasters and inaccuracies for any and all coasters. I'll continue to check in on the thread for this information, so please keep helping us out! Look for more announcements regarding the poll to come soon. Thanks for understanding!
  21. Dreamland's Scenic Railway is there. https://coasterpoll.com/@DreamlandMargate/ScenicRailwayMargate
  22. Added. No powered coasters should be on the poll, the ones you mentioned (along with Disneyland Paris' Casey Jr) have now been removed. Curious - did Colossos run at all during the 2017 season? If it did for more than a special occasion I suppose we could put it on for the 2017 poll. Anyone else have any thoughts?
  23. So, as I was going through the coaster poll adding coasters from Japan, I discovered that the Corkscrew at Toshimaen in the Tokyo area (one of Arrow's older coasters) also received a second-gen Arrow train sometime during or before 1999. Pretty cool! https://rcdb.com/1204.htm
