The Official "TPR Coaster Poll" Thread!
A.J. replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
All of these have been added, they'll show up on the massive list soon. We don't have any Intamin half pipes on the list. Both are SBNO, they'll be added back when they reopen. Once we have all of our bases covered and start adding "new / refurbished for 20XX" rides, we'll be calling out individual rides as they are added. -

Yes, it's missing, and yes, it's operating. It will be added in my next batch. We are not including any coasters that are defunct or SBNO on this list. We want the ranking to be about today's best coasters, not yesterday's. I'm sure there are plenty of people whose lists would be larger if defunct coasters were added in (myself included), but we don't believe that it's appropriate to rank a coaster that no one can ride. -

This has been fixed. Should be up to date on the massive list shortly. Consequence of entering these coasters too fast. -

Update! https://coasterpoll.com/ After more hours of data entry, we now should have most major coasters from Europe on the poll, including many that were previously missing! This includes popular coasters like Red Force at Ferrari Land and Troy at Toverland. As a reminder, the list currently includes all roller coasters that are the size of a wild mouse or greater. This means that no Dragon Wagons, no [insert manufacturer here] kids' coasters, no small Tivolis, no Wacky Worms, no small Miler coasters, and no Vekoma roller skaters. Exceptions to this rule are made, of course. For example, there are a bunch of coasters in France that are smaller rides manufactured by Soquet, and we wanted to make sure to include at least some of those for those who have ridden them. We are now soliciting feedback for missing coasters and inaccuracies in the continents of North America and Europe. I'll continue to check in on the thread for this information, so please keep helping us out - especially our readers and members from Europe! I will be gradually starting to fill in parks and coasters in Asia now, and there are a lot of them. There are a bunch of new parks springing up so we need to weed out the "good" ones before adding them to the list. Thanks for understanding! -

Zyklon and Galaxi coasters are not included in the poll. This also includes Pinfari ZL and Looping Stars, Zierer Flitzers, and Schwarzkopf Wildcats. -

It was accidentially added to the wrong park, it has been fixed now. It should be searchable right now, but it will take a little while for it to update on the massive list. -

Star Flyers also have a thick safety belt that runs tightly across the riders' torso that can only be unlocked by the operator. -

I've made a complete listing for Kozmo's Kurves three times now, closing the window at the last second each time. It's the most difficult exercise of restraint I've ever had to deal with. You have no idea. -

This has been added. It will show up on the massive list in a few hours. There are no Hi-Milers on the list. In fact, the only two Miler coasters that will likely remain on the list are the Scandia Screamer and Playland's Wild Waves. Even Wild Waves might be a stretch. You'll notice that there are no Pinfari Zyklons / Looping Stars or Schwarzkopf Wildcats either. This has been fixed in the coaster's shorthand name / URL. Colossos will remain off the list until it reopens. This will be true for any and all coasters under renovation, such as Nagashima's White Cyclone and the upcoming North American Rocky Mountain coasters. It's useless to put SBNO coasters on the list if no one can ride them. This ranking is about today's best coasters, not yesterday's. As for the European coasters - again, we working on it. I am currently entering European parks / coasters by country in alphabetical order, I've only gotten so far as Belgium. Please limit all "missing coasters" feedback to North American parks, like Canobie Coaster did above, until further notice. Your favorite parks and coasters WILL show up, it's just going to take some time! -

Jaguar has been added. It will show up in searches immediately but will take a few hours to show up on the massive list. This has been fixed. Same deal. The missing Asian parks are still a week or two out, as I'm filling in European parks first. We came to a consensus that the amount of "unique" variations on clones, such as Boomerangs and SLCs with new Vekoma trains and those lap bar only Sunkid trains, for example, justify calling out each coaster individually. Another example would be Great Nor'easter - plenty of people consider it to be one of the better SLCs due to its unique setting, and it wouldn't be proper to give it an individual entry and every other SLC a grouped one. We either go all-in, or not at all, and we are choosing to go all-in. Thanks for the feedback! Keep it coming! -

Update! https://coasterpoll.com/ After hours of data entry, we now should have most major coasters from the United States, Canada, and Mexico on the poll! Hooray! The list currently includes all roller coasters that are the size of a wild mouse or greater. This means that no Dragon Wagons, no [insert manufacturer here] kids' coasters, no small Tivolis, no Wacky Worms, no small Miler coasters, and no Vekoma roller skaters. Exceptions to this rule are made, of course, such as including some small classic wooden coasters like the Waldameer Comet and Little Amerricka's Meteor. If you all could do me a favor - for now, give us "missing coasters" feedback with respect to North America (USA, CAN, MEX) specifically. It will help us fill in the gaps. I'll continue to check in on the thread for this information, so please help us out! I will be gradually starting to fill in parks and coasters in Europe, Australia, and Asia over the coming days and weeks. Chances are your favorite coaster will eventually get on the poll. It's just going to take some time! I would also advise everyone to check their rankings. There was a bit of a snafu on my part and a lot of coaster "clones", such as SLCs, Boomerangs, and the like, were deleted and re-entered. Now that we have a bit of a guideline set up that shouldn't happen moving forward. Thanks for understanding! -

Currently we're adding US coasters / parks in alphabetical order, more parks from PA will be coming soon. Bear with us, this is a HUGE undertaking. As for Maurer spinners, I could see "special" versions such as Winjas, Crush's Coaster Laff Trakk and Dragon's Fury being potentially ranked. Is there enough interest for the "off-shelf" SC2000s like Whirlwind, Steel Dragon and Undertow? -

Oh no! We'll never be able to figure out what the best coaster in the world is if we can't add the second worst coaster in f*cking Nevada. Don't worry, I've got you covered. Just added Adventureland NY, Bowcraft, Buffalo Bill's Resort, Canobie Lake, Casino Pier, Castaway Cove, Clementon, Cliff's Amusement Park, Columbus Zoo, Great Escape, Luna Park / Scream Zone, New York New York Resort, Martin's Fantasy Island, Rye Playland, Six Flags St. Louis, Seabreeze, Story Land, and Strickler's Grove. -

Obviously there's a huge backlog of parks that aren't on the poll. We'll get 'em all eventually. More important in terms of the list are mis-names / inaccuracies / strays, like Jake mentioned previously: Also, right now, the poll is slow to catch up, so it may be several hours before you see a park or coaster be changed / added. -

One of the things we're working on with of the coaster list at this moment is bringing all of the parks that currently exist on the poll up to being current with the 2017 season (additions and removals). -

That Six Flags New England / Lake Compounce / Luna Park day is going to be tough. Really tough. Realistically, at the end of your Detroit > Waldameer > Conneaut Lake day, you would need to drive at least to Binghamton. You'd go to Meadville / Conneaut Lake first and then to Erie / Waldameer. It's 4 hours 15 to Binghamton after that. You wake up at the crack of dawn Sunday (5:30-6 AM) and drive 3 hours 45 to Six Flags New England to be there at opening, give yourself five hours there (10-3). Then an hour drive to Lake Compounce, and you're there in the early evening for a few hours (4-6). BUT WAIT! You still have AT LEAST 2 and a half hours on the road to Brooklyn. And then, IF Luna Park is still open, you can ride the Cyclone (9-10:30 maybe?). AND THEN you have to drive to your hotel! By then it might be 1 AM, with New York's traffic. It's somewhat doable, but I don't think it will be as good as you think. Any amount of traffic that you run into along the way might wreck your itinerary for that day, since everything is time-dependent. You're also getting very far into "whirlwind tour" territory, where the trip becomes less about fun and enjoyment and more about checking items off of a list. I used to be that way myself but now, I wouldn't wish that sort of stress and pressure to "get everything done" on anyone.
