  1. ^ Considering B&M has been very consistent with the heights of their last 3 hypers, and only 'new model' hypers, at 232, 230, and 230 feet, I'd say it's a Dive Machine...if it's even a B&M at all. Regardless, if this is slated for 2012, it'll be a year before I start following it closely.
  2. Yeah, I had AWESOME times at Silverwood and Holiday World. They are definitely in a breed of their own, away from the corporate Six Flags and Cedar Fair parks. Having arguably one of the best traditional parks in the world, Kennywood, as my home park, I need to get to more of these traditional parks, like SDC IB, etc.
  3. My top 10 (out of the 26 I have been to): 1. Universal Studios Florida (tie) 1. Islands of Adventure (tie) 3. Six Flags Magic Mountain 4. Cedar Point 5. Six Flags Great Adventure 6. Kings Dominion 7. Busch Gardens Africa 8. Kings Island 9. Dorney Park 10. Kennywood If Geauga Lake/SFWoA still existed with all original rides still operating (X-Flight, Dominator/Batman, Superman/SV/Possessed, Serial Thriller/Thunderhawk, Big Dipper, Villain, etc.) I would put it at number 8 and move KI to 9 and Dorney to 10.
  4. ^ I'm not so sure I'd consider Silverwood and Holiday World "small" parks. Sure the towns they are in aren't exactly huge, and the parks themselves don't have a ride count on par with Cedar Point, but the amount of land they both own (especially Silverwood) has to be in the top 10 or 20 amongst all individual parks in the country (individual meaning not adding up the land in every Six Flags or Cedar Fair park). Not saying you're wrong, because everyone has a different take on things. That's just the way I view it.
  5. ^ Fallout 3 is an extremely long game without all the DLC, but considering you have them all, you'll definitely put a TON of playing time into it to get the full experience.
  6. I don't know if it was the straps (which are INCREDIBLE restraints, so I'm not complaining) or what, but I was underwhelmed on the amount of air I felt. I thought there would be a lot more than there actually was. I got 3 total rides, one in the very last row, towards the middle, and towards the front. I guess I had my hopes set too high, or I've been spoiled in riding Maverick so many times, and having been on El Toro...I dunno.
  7. I guess I fall in that category, because not only did it run the entire day in 100+ degree weather, but the line never got longer than 15-20 minutes.
  8. ^ When I rode, not only could I feel them, but I could hear them, and they were fairly loud. Fast forward to about 0:52, and that's similar to what they sounded like:
  9. My guess is the fact that "Stratosoar" sounds like the name of a dinosaur, and they are just trying to be funny/clever.
  10. ^ That's just it though, aside from the front row, every other row had no more than a 2-3 train wait. There was no need whatsoever to add a second train, it would have been overkill and they would have been sending mostly empty trains (except the front row). It would have been a complete waste. As far as switching trains go, I'd agree with the fact that it's maintenance, to give the trains an even amount of wear and use, and to prevent one train from incurring increased stress. Many parks do this with low crowds. I've been at Cedar Point with minimal crowds when Gemini ran the red side, then the next day the blue side was running. I'm sure KD probably does this also with Rebel Yell, and their other coasters with two trains (that regularly only need one during the week), not just I305.
  11. I assume you mean this picture: I'm not so sure. Shuttle coasters don't seem as prevalent as they used to be. It's been 7 years since a new Impulse, and Vekoma's GIBs, Invertigos, and Boomerangs are potential maintenance nightmares, so unless there's a used one that could get moved, I doubt a new one would be purchased. I guess it's possible a new coaster from Premier could get built, but it would look like a kiddie coaster next to I305. Nonetheless, I doubt KD will be getting any new coaster for a while. Those are probably still left to touch up the land a bit, because the spot I305 is on is still one giant dirt lot. Impulse coasters aren't complete circuits, like Wicked Twister, Possessed, V2, etc.
  12. My 100th steel coaster was Intimidator 305 at KD on 8/10/10.
  13. Start with simple exercises like walking/jogging, lifting weights, etc. a few times a week, then work your way up. You can also try counting calories. Don't go over 2,000-2,500 per day. Lastly, DON'T STARVE YOURSELF, that's horrible for your body and metabolism, and will cause you to eventually lose weight slower because your metabolism slows down so much. Try eating 3-5 healthy meals a day, but keeping under that calorie limit. Good luck!
  14. From what I remember, almost all (if not all) major rides have some sort of bin for your loose articles. Have fun! It's a great park!
  15. ^^ Avalanche is a great coaster! I really liked it, and think it's an extremely underrated coaster.
  16. ^ I think the Universals here are pretty damn good. They did just add HRRR and Harry Potter in Florida, and King Kong in Hollywood didn't they? Seems like they are giving those parks plenty of attention. How is it any different from Six Flags adding multiple B:TRs, Dark Knights, etc. to various parks around the country? Also, how many people that regularly go to USF go to USH, or USJ, and vice versa?
  17. I know, I have relatives who are teachers in Hampton. My point was that it will getting to the point of being 'crunch time,' if you will, so a lot of parents will be busy buying clothes, supplies, etc. and won't have much time to take their kids to an amusement park.
  18. You should be fine. I went on Tuesday the 10th and the park was dead. The longest wait I had all day was about 15-20 minutes for Volcano, and that was the first time. It's line got shorter as the day went on. I never had more than a one or two train/cycle wait for anything else. Plus, schools will be close to starting up again.
  19. ^ You are correct. Aftershock does not have an evac platform on the cobra roll. In fact it never has had one at Silverwood, only at SFGAm. I wonder why? It hasn't stalled there in 2 years yet, that I know of, so I guess it's alright.
  20. Cedar Point recently reached 500,000 fans on their Facebook page and just posted this: That word is "AIRtImE" mixed up. A clue perhaps, and do the caps mean anything?
  21. I caved and just picked up Madden 11 for PS3. A 10% off coupon came in the mail a few days ago and I had a $25 Best Buy RZ certificate, so I got it for roughly $30...not bad. If anyone wants to play online, hit me up. My PSN is Destroyer95.
  22. ^ There were TONS of them in the shops in Virginia Beach when I was there this past week. I guess they're the hot new knickknack. Great pictures!
  23. That's funny because when I was there last week for the first time ever, that's the FIRST thing that crossed my mind. "Hm, I wonder if a flume ride was ever there?" Cool pictures, especially because I was JUST at KD.
