  1. I know that there is a trip report for this park allready, but I took so many pictures when I was there, and I have never done a photo report before, so here goes. This water park is really awesome. It's located a little bit outside of Makadi, which is a pretty newly built resort area outside of Hurghada, Egypt. The hotel we stayed at offered free entrance, and free shuttle bus up there, so i think we were there for at least two hours every day but one. Once you entered the park all the food and drinks is all inclusive, which is pretty typical for egyptian water parks. This one however did not serve any alcoholic beverages. The park is only two years old, and 100% built by turkish company Polin. There is only one real pool for swimming and relaxation, but it's pretty small. In the future they like to build a really long lazy river. Location wise this park is placed stunningly, but it could get VERY windy since there are nothing around it. The park never seems crowded, even tough there were a few hundred people there every day, most of them really rude and annoying people from Russia. The photos are taken on different days, which explains the difference in weather. Also the park is closed for lunch between 12,30 and 1,30, wich explains why some of the slides lacks water in some photos. The staff at this park was really great and very friendly. Anyway, onto the pictures. This is the entrance. Here's the first view of the park that you get. The big slide tower. Play structure. The resturant. Toddlers pool. Pirate ship. I thought that I should start by showing you the slides that really stood out. This boomerango was easily the best ride they had in the park. It started with a big and steep drop, and then it took you uphill and into a tunnel with some cool light effects, before it plunged down into the boomerango section. The ride is really big and starts all the way up where the speed slides does, 18 meters/60 feet. It has this "natural light effects" built in to it, which means that as long as it is light on the outside of the slide, it will shine on the inside. My second favorite was this twister slide. I have done these kind of slides before, but not like these one. Usually they are pretty slow and lame, or they are insanely intense and seriously dangerous. This one however was very fast and intense, yet perfectly engineered and smooth. The free fall tube in the middle was a nice touch as well, perfect for those not ready for the big speed slides. It reminded me of a mack water coaster drop, with how it slowly gets steeper. Let's look at the slides that were really good, and above average. The family slide was the widest model of slide there is, and there was 3 different rafts for it. 3,4 or 6-person ones. It was a very short ride, you have to carry the rafts up yourself, so it was not very tall. It started with this long straight run. It spun a lot down these curves. Right next to it was this awesome(!) airtime slide. very short, but very sweet. Nice "car wash" spray at the top of the hill. There is a huge and twisty tower filled with the standard slides. There are two pipelines, one open (orange) and one enclosed with light effects (the white, black, red, blue & green one). They were pretty standard slides, what made them so good was the finishing drops seen here. There was also a single or double tube bowl. The bowl itself is very standard, but this helix of death with light effects before the bowl really made the ride. There was also an open body flume, the blue one. Nice and shiny (and muddy!) thanks to RTM technology. And lastly there was also an enclosed body flume, the green one. A cool thing with the park was that all slides had a real pool to end in. Only the speed slide and mat racer had shut down lanes. Freefall & Kamikazee. They make you ride these on mats, which are real nice and comfy in the shut down lane, and it saves you're back while on the slides. The freefall slide is the best one I have done. It was smooth and it had a section of straight lane before hitting the shut down lane which made it very comfortable. The yellow one on the other hand don't have that piece of straight lane before the shut down lane, which made it extremely uncomfortable. You just smash down in the shut down lane with no controll. You can see the difference in this picture. Some people were almost flying out of it. Soloution: build a straight piece of lane before the shut down lane. Let's look at the slide that were good, but nothing special. Single rider bowl. Just a regular bowl, it was however no headbanging or discomfort when entering the bowl. It's not yet possible to produce the entrance to bowls with RTM technology, you can see the difference between the two methods here. Tsunami slide. Good and fun, but Tornado's are obviously better. This one had a weird "kink" in the exit, which sometimes made you're tube stop, and you had to use you're feet to kick out of the slide. Nice and shiny. These slides only allowed single tubes. Good and fun, but short and pointless. A halfpipe slide were you just went back and forth until you stopped. It looked fun, but the ride experience was lame. Good for people who don't like the big slides. 6-lane Octopus racer. Polin has never been very good at mat racing, and this one is no exception. I have never done a bad one from them, but never a good one either. However the new mat racer beeing built at the Cartoon Network park in Thailand looks to have been greatly improved. The slopes were not steep at all, just straight peices of track that changed direction up and down. No airtime, and no sensation of speed. Also they lanes are a bit to wide on this one, making for some weird and uncomfortable sideways movement. Over Supported? Maybe not, but compare it to one from Proslide then this one is pretty ugly. This slide was just bad. You did a helix and then out in that pool looking thing, from were you had to kick youreself in to the slide again to do another helix. nothing fun, and probably the reason to why it's the only one of these. Let's check out the rest of the park. The play structure was awesome! It wasn't anything special compared to other play structures, I just love play structures. It had this awesome corner slide, that looks uncomfortable and dangerous, but it's not. I which more play structures had these. And one from behind. I much prefer play structures to have a real pool beneth them. This one had a zero-depth entry to it, with this awesome non slippery fish pattern on the entrance. Polin makes the best toddlers pool out of any manufacter. Nice mushrooms. The octopus was by far the most popular slide in this pool, and it looks awesome. 3 slides and 3 stairs. Cool looking cobra slide. Cute looking turtle slide with 4 slides and 2 stairs. Elephant slide, the big boss at this pool. And the bunny. The only slide at this pool I did't like the look of. And for the little older children (older, but still not old) they had this really well themed pirate ship. The theming was impressive on this one. It did have some flaws. There's slides on both sides, but only one stair up. Also since there is slides on both sides parent can easily loose sight of their children. Hopefully I have not bored you. I look forward to do more of these photo reports, next time it will probably be from a real amusementpark. The big slide tower. And one last look of the place.
  2. I can only imagine how painful that shutdown lane will be for the free fall slide. Still looks freaking awesome!
  3. Does the longer staggered seating trains offer a different (slower) pacing than the orignial design? Would love to thry those out some day.
  4. It was years ago since I rode it in the rain, which was insane, but back then I also thought the ride was awesome without the rain as well. After the big re-tracking in 08-09 the ride lost a lot of that hauling-ass awesomeness (IMO). Good thing Speed Monster is as awesome as it is
  5. Not that good unfortunately. It's not really rough or brutal, it just lacks that wicked airtime nowdays. I usually don't ride it if I have to wait more than 10 minute. It would be my number one choice for an iron horse makeover!
  6. I seriously can't wait to try this one out in the summer! Always wanted to try one of the big dark rides in the world, and if this will be similar to Spiderman, then that's good enough for me!
  7. I read that people who have ridden it said that there wer no big difference to speak of in the way that the coaster rode.
  8. Actually that POV shows a pretty clear view of what a ride on Insane looks like. It has not been neutered, just adjusted so that it won't flip around (complete rotations) during the beginning and middle of the ride. Isn't being "adjusted" so that it doesn't flip the same as being neutered? The ride is still flippy and very intense, just not as much as back in 09, but I wouldn't consider it neutered.
  9. Actually that POV shows a pretty clear view of what a ride on Insane looks like. It has not been neutered, just adjusted so that it won't flip around (complete rotations) during the beginning and middle of the ride.
  10. So they changed to softer materials during last season, and now they have changed to an even softer material, or am I mistaken?
  11. Here you can see the resturant's exterior, and a look at the new pathway next to the rapids. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
  12. Apparently the renovations of El Condor have given the ride some problems during testing. There is now to much friction creating the train to valley already after the first two loops. The park's technicians are working hard to find what's failing, and they hope that they will get it open for opening day. It's still nice to see that the new track has effected the ride, hopefully in a good way. Source
  13. It's not rude, it's honest. I have seen you post before, I know that you prefer Proslide. On you're first post in this thread you stated that you found Proslide to be better than Whitewater, according to you're opinion, and that's fine. But writing stuff like what you wrote in what I quoted above, then you will get a response.
  14. It seems that there was a path, just no one of them followed it. Every a family business will get some serious problems when it reaches the second or third generation, it really is inevitable.
  15. Proslide is the big innovator in the industry, no doubt, but that's it. They are lightyears behind both Whitewater and Polin when it comes to manufacture their slides. Proslide still manufacture slides the same way they did in the 80's. Sure, a few things have changed, but the method is still the same. Polin and Whitewater on the other hand has spent a lot of time and money to develop new methods that will give the owner and rides of the slides a lot of benefits. RTM molding and SilkGel is the future of the industry, and Proslide still doesn't do it. Some of the biggest benefits of the new methods are: Perfectly shiny & smooth finish on both sides Aesthetically superior product Stronger but lighter waterslides Homogeneous thickness distribution Perfectly smooth joints Much smoother riding experience Environmental friendly Easy Maintenance Extreme tolerance against sun fading People may think that these kind of things doesn't matter, but when you are about to pay a shit load of cash for some new water slides for your park, then it will matter. Not doing this new technology costs Proslides a lot contracts. A good example of that is the new Yas Waterworld where the only slides done by Proslide is what Whitewater could not deliver. So yes, Proslide are very innovative, but they are not close to the "water slide gods" that coastercrazy216 wants them to be. What a stupid comment.
  16. The problem is not that they are forceless, as much as very similar. For the people who have been on a couple of hundreds of coasters, they know exactly what to expect of a B&M coaster. When everybody talks about this forceless-ness it's not a bad thing, it's just the reason why the ride didn't make it in to their top-20. All B&M's are still fun and enjoyable.
  17. As always (since it was built), Insane.
  18. Well it will be a powered coaster, but I know that Mack now can build those with multiple trains operating, so it will be interesting to see how this turns out. Hopefully we will see some really big inverted rides from Mack in the future, who can actually give those big B&M's a run for their money.
  19. Yes, remove all of them rides and just throw away those $33,000,000 that they cost to build, and not to mention what it would cost to tear them down. What a real quality comment from you.
  20. Tusenfryd Nothing else even comes close when it comes to operations, or their audience.
  21. It's actually very necessary, as the second launch also act as a block. If the train has to do an emergency stop on the second launch, and the re-launch, it simply would not gain enough speed to make it back to the station without the backwards launch. If they wanted to do the ride without the backwards launch, they would have had to gone with another design of the ride (twice the length of the second launch).
  22. The Topscan has been moved to Furuvik, another park owned by Parks & Resort, north of Stockholm.
  23. I can't tell from the pictures, but do the ride have regular brakes or magnetic ones?
