  1. A little bit outside of Wien, close to the border of both Slovakia and Hungary.
  2. That is not really the case. The LSM motors are all placed, and connected, in line, and it is very rare for them to brake. Whenever a magnetically launch brakes down it is has most often nothing to do with the hardware on the launch itself, it's a software problem, that would be regardless the size of the launch (until you reach the size of a launch that requires and energy storage system). B&M has stated many times that they don't want to build launched coasters, but it's something that they got to do because 1. They need to keep even with the competitors and 2. They have a lot of loyal customers that I'm sure they want to be able to offer a launched product for. Also you need to stop thinking about other B&M's little downtime, it's not gonna matter when doing a launched ride, because launched rides has more downtime than regular coasters, that is something that B&M know, and they are just going to have to accept it, and build the best type of launch they can. Yes, but they already have the coaster on lock down. Flying coasters, Wing riders and big Dive machine's were all developed slowly, because they couldn't really predict how the ride experience would turn out, and how it would effect the train and the coaster itself. That is not the case if they wan't to do an ex. floorless launched coaster, they already knows how it's going to ride, and they know what forces will effect it and they knows how to build the train and integrate the magnetic fins. Other than that it's not really as complex as you say. The LSM launches are very precise about the speed they achieve, and it's very usual to put a big element right after the launch to get the speed under control (which is why most rides like Blue Fire or Intamin top hats crawl over the top), other than that you just use a trim break after the first element to assure that the ride won't overspeed. B&M has some of the best engineers on the planet, they will figure it out. They are not rude.
  3. Good point! I wonder if it's true, or if it looks that way because the lack of wheel covers. When speaking of mechanical launches this can be the case, to some degree. However that's not really the case when you are speaking of a magnetic launch, 15 years ago it probably had some effect how fast it was going to launch, but nowadays the technology has come such a long way. The modern LSM launches don't have any moving parts, since the fins can be used for both brakes and launches (which is why LSM has become the more dominant as opposed to LIM's who are more power effective) removing all problems with the mechanical issues (on the launch itself). Whenever a magnetic launch coaster is down it's because of the programing causing troubles (this is most often the case with the hydraulic launchers as well) and then it doesn't really matter if it's a 70km/h or a 110km/h launch, it's going to break down anyway. Sure the speed of the launch may have some degree of causing problems, but not as much as to were it's significant. But were not talking about creating a new coaster type, were talking about putting a launch on already developed coaster types, so you're argument is pointless.
  4. There's really no point for them to start out with a smaller ride, they already know how to make a big coaster, so there's no problem there, just build what the first buyer asks for. Making launch for a smaller coaster won't be any different than making a launch for a bigger coaster (unless you want it faster than 120km/h) it just needs to be longer to gain the speed, but on the technical side it's all the same. If B&M would do a launch they would buy LSM motors, it's very easy to find a good supplier of those nowadays, and they showed with Krake that they already has the design ready to integrate the magnetic fins into the track and vehicles. It's gonna be interesting to see if they will do the programming themselves or outsource it, for their first magnetic launch.
  5. I wonder who did the slides here, it doesn't look like it's one of the big ones.
  6. The video is not avalible in Norway, can someone post some screenshots?
  7. Go in an read comments on the parks FB and you're in for a treat!
  8. Take that with a grain of salt. The only way it could scrape and damages the track is if they wheel assembly broke loose, and that is very unlikely. Nothing, that does not come from Alton Towers, about this rides delays are true.
  9. As you say, the park got what they asked for, there is nothing wrong with it. Also remember it's only rumours, said to be from managers at the park. Merlin has an insane amout of money, if they want something and see a market for it they will build it. However you will never see a B&M hyper at Thrope I can almost promise you, it would not fit the audience at all. There Facebook page and youtube would be filled with snorky comments on how lame it was.
  10. Remember that Skyloops like Abismo can be built with more than one train operating. You can also get the X-train on it, doubling the capacity. (first X-train is opening at Romon World China in 2014). Anyway, it was just an example. Don't hold your breath on another B&M though, apparently The Swarm have not been as well received as the other coasters as Thorpe, and usual comments are "slow" and "not so intense".
  11. The coaster has been pushed back to 2016, but I do believe that they are allready planning it. Knowing the audience of the park it is probably something like this they are planning, only with more loops.
  12. Use this one instead, it's updated. Bing
  13. I hate when they mix spineless track with the triangle style one. I sure know why they do it, but I just hate the look of it.
  14. 2 weeks ago I took the train over to Copenhagen and my home park for the first time this year (my home park is actually in another country). I would have had more pictures to show you (there were so many new flowers and plants in the gardens this year) but unfortunately I forgot to plug in my camera the night before. Hope you enjoy them anyway, even though it's lacks a few things I would have loved to show you guys. Welcome to one of the most beautiful parks in the world! The photos are 2 weeks old (been busy lately) thats why the trees aren't that green. The best looking Star Flyer IMO. The park was very empty the first two hours, and then it exploded. Nice and green. This part of the park looks so good in the evenings. This part of the parks really gets you the Tivoli feeling. That's a tall ride. Nerd shot! Full swing. I spy something new! AIR RACE! The ride I've been waiting three years to ride! When space is an issue, just build it on a platform and put the quene under it. The new corner of the park also has two smaller rides. Here's the airplane one. The other one is a small freefall tower. Looking good. New ice bar. The air race was down the first hour. Nice materials. Fountain of Tycho Brahe. From the "bottom" of the new area. This wall is the only thing about the new area I don't like. You can't tell from the picture, but it looks very cheap and plastic. I expect more from Tivoli. After three years of hyping it up, the ride did still deliver an awesome ride experience. It was fun and fast, had nice restraints and was very re-rideable. The Huss Break Dance is always a good ride. Johanna looking unhappy because I wanted to move on after four rides.. In case you forgot what country you're in. Here's the ferris wheel, something I think Tivoli should replace with a bigger, more iconic looking one, with a big light package. Towards the park's oldest ride. But first a stop at one of my favorite dark rides! You get into a boat, and then you enter an old silver mine, where you all shot and gain scores which you can all see when it's over. Here's one of the worlds oldest operating rollercoaster. I was going to take more pics of it later, but then the camera died so.. Here's a photo of the sign about the upcoming renovation of the ride. Something a lot of people are missing is this uber cute dragon mascot the ride has. From a distance. Pretty, isn't it? My favorite color purple (yes, it's true!) What a lovely sight. Looking towards the front area of the park. Walking down toward the main attractions area. There was no line, so we took a spin. Some jumping water worms. The Asian tower. How about a small immelmann loop? Entrance to the tivoli area. The paint on Dæmonen is really starting to turn bad. Hopefully this will be addresed in the near future. Random dining area. Looking down the main street of this area in the park. First drop fun (sadly train-less). The nicest looking S&S tower there is. The best, and most evil, flat ride in the world! Boats for the smallest ones. Looking good! A Youtube video simply doesn't do this ride justice. It truly is insane. It's so photogenic. Let's take a walk in the gardens part of the park! And that's it for this time. As I said I would have taken more photos but the camera died. Hope you enjoyed it!
  15. If this indeed turns out to be a B&M Giga I sure hope they make it more interesting than leviathan, maybe a Dive Machine? This times a thousand! I'm very curious to how Intamin would do another Giga, with almost unlimited space available. One can dream...
  16. I'm a die hard fanboy of Intamin intensity, but I LOVE wing riders as well. It's two very different feelings, and all in all it's just about enjoying the ride and having fun.
  17. Even the original trains had problem with this ride, I can only imagine the trouble it can cause with another designers trains.
  18. The free fall tower is going to be the coolest one in the world! Source
  19. Now this got interesting! Oh, and only stupid people start to argue against operating systems all over the internet.
  20. I read about that, it sounds like an awesome thing to do! Something similar happened in Sweden during the early 90's when the then owner of Skara Sommerland bought the crashed U-137 and putted it on display in the park (that is the Sovjet submarine that run aground in Swedish teretory during the cold war armed with nuclear weapons). My german is not really good, but maybe you can have listen to it and translate correctly: Video
  21. The Plopsa CEO has now said that they have agreed on a ride for 2014. The new attraction will be unique in Europe and is more often found in America! Any suggestions (assuming that it will be a coaster, as strongly rumored)?
  22. There's a Mac goal? How much is it? Maybe I should chip in a few bucks for it then.
