Nigloland! New Coaster for 2014
_koppen replied to msep003's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ The owners of the park loved Piraten, so the ride Will probably be a close copy. The rides cost the same, but there is a lot more upkeeping with the Intamin ride. Since the target audience would not really appreciate the real megalite they went with Mack instead. Also it's not a stengel dive, just a twisted hill. Watch the photos from Far away and you'll see. -
Nigloland! New Coaster for 2014
_koppen replied to msep003's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Even if this won't ride as good as the megalite's, it will look better. I love how the lift only have 2 big supports for it, I305 style. Source -

Remember that Smiler suffers from some horrible construction faults, and that it does not represent the work of Gerstlauer. -
Since the only threads in this forum who mentions this park is the "new for 2014", I create this thread. The Maurer coaster is almost finished, with just the launch left. The HUSS Frisbee is also way into construction. And here is the new train for it. They scrapped the winged seating concept, and went with this one instead, which is more like the new B&M hyper trains. Source Source

That's a very fun ride! I will gladly go back to this park, as soon as they get the Schwarzkopf up and running. -
Russia to build Vekoma GIB in Sochi
_koppen replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
And what makes you think this will turn into a new Hard Rock Park? The park will not be ready for the Olympics, and it's not meant to. It's meant to open in the summer, and is built to cater for the increased tourism that will come to the town in the coming years. Sochi is Russia's biggest summer sea resort, and it attracts around 3-4 million people annually, with over 2 of those millions in the high season (july-August). Sure the numbers of tourists have been low the last years, but that's because of all the construction. It will surely rise again, to even bigger numbers when all of the projects are completed. Going to Sochi is as prestigious to Russian as it is to travel internationally. This whole project is built for Russian tourists, only around 3% are foreigners, and that will probably not change after the Olympics is done. Maybe tourists from the neighboring countries will increase, but mainly the whole town is aimed at Russian tourists. Since the russian economy has grown stronger during the 21st century, you don't even have to be wealthy to afford a vacation and visit a place like this, it's even possible for the middle class. Russian loves these kind of parks. All the new water park developments around the black sea have been hugely successful, and there is no evidence that this will not be as well. Sure you can draw some similarities to the Hard Rock Park about it being built in a place where people don't go for theme parks, but also remember that this place is something that is relatively new for the country, and a lot of people are going to want to visit it. -

The corkscrew is up! I'm also a bit surprised how many trees they have taken down for this, hopefully it will be worth it. Source -
Flat-tracked inversions look so irritating.
_koppen replied to mrlego611's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Not if the supports are as small as they are there. Remember that there is a lot of welding done o triangle track, adding to the expense of manufacturing it. This is not the case for the small supports. If it would have been cheaper with a spine, it would have been there. -

Nigloland! New Coaster for 2014
_koppen replied to msep003's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I just discovered on Nigloland's website that this new ride will have a 1,35m height limit, compared to Blue Fire's 1,3m. This new ride might actually have some pretty heavy air time! -
What's New for 2014? Rides and Attractions
_koppen replied to larrygator's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The Romon World park, with the Maurer and Intamin coaster posted previously in the thread will also be getting a HUSS Giant Frisbee. You can see the legs and beam for the pendulum in this photo, it's getting a light blue color scheme. Source -
I have no idea to be honest, but my best guess would be that RMC would design the ride the way they want it, and Vekoma is responsible for the customer contact, manufacturing and building of the ride. Surely there would be more than one factory in Europe able to produce the ride, that they can hire. The trains would probably still be built by RMC.

Looks very Angkor Watish, and even if it's the first concept art we see, I already love it! -
This. We don't really have any big things like this, themed to Viking's. That one is never going to happen. I have close friend who is one of the top politicians in Uppsala, and the whole project looks very much like a big money launderer, as there is no documentation at all to were the capital is coming from. There's a lot more to it also, but that's another discussion. Also the whole project seems highly unrealistic, with calculations of around 800 000 visitors a year in the first stage, were it's only going to be a big mall, something that is definitely not needed in the area. This park in Norway seems like much more well planned, and actually realistic, even if I think they are a bit optimistic about the budget.
