Kennywood (KW) Discussion Thread

This has been standard operating procedure for years. It's not like if they recover costs they'll stop doing every possible thing to run their parks as poorly as possible and remove as many rides / benefits as possible while still tricking people into going there. I love the PR spin they put on it though... "Part of the evolution is a continuous examination of the sustainability, capacity and popularity of our attraction lineup." Yeah, the park that runs one train on their hypercoaster and the chain that is so bad at running two trains on Boulder Dash that they forgot how to even do it and ended up crashing them into eachother is super-worried about the capacity of a Paratrooper... f*ck off. I'm sure Paratroopers are super expensive rides to run and maintain though as only the wealthiest of parks like Conneaut Lake, Old Town, Camden Park and Fun Spot Atlanta can handle the upkeep. Hell, Knoebels had to jack the price up all the way to two entire dollars to make a profit on theirs. -

I’m so torn between not wanting to go to this park because Parques Reunidos owns it but also wanting to go to this park before Parques Reunidos fucks it completely up to the point where it’s just a bunch of generic flats and coasters that are either running one train or closed for a year at a time because... reasons. -

If I just think of this as a replacement for the Top Spin and not Volcano I'll probably like it more so uh... woo -

18 degrees. They’ve never closed it for temperature. It also doesn’t have wheel heaters. -

Maybe on a B&M hyper (not sure about Raging Bull) but wheel heaters are becoming increasingly common. I just caught the part about how it will close at 34 degrees even though it has wheel heaters. That's absolutely adorable. -

SeaWorld San Antonio Discussion Thread

So this is different... News 4 San Antonio Apparently Wave Breaker stopped yesterday atop a hill and took three hours to evacuate. One would think that if this were as simple as the ride balancing in that spot they would have just nudged it forward or backwards before securing the train and evacuating it over a lake (it just left a launch block and seems like it could easily crest that hill with no momentum moving forward and make it through the rest of the course). Maybe not, I'm going to venture a guess that something a bit more complicated happened here. -
Despite the fact that the daily case count in Virginia is higher now than it was all summer, the state of Virginia has given theme parks the go-ahead to open at 50% capacity on the traditional closing day of the theme park season because they’ve got jokes... I guess that’s good for Christmas Town if they don’t shut down again... If I were a Virginia theme park I would be so pissed.

Yup... I love Log Flumes but never ride Great Adventure's because of the grouping policy. Not only is it weird but it also guarantees you'll get soaked when you pack logs like that.

Coal Cracker leaves riders so bone-dry that it could honestly run for Christmas if they could keep the water from freezing and people would probably ride it. -
I keep hearing “Super Loops” thrown around and I’d love to hear the justification for why Six Flags would want to remove a reasonably popular flat ride that they just bought a million of that basically never break down and don’t require much staffing. I’d imagine the justification is “I don’t like them because they called them coasters”.

They seem to close their Christmas Candylane coasters at 35 or 36 but their operating limits for the Intamins are much higher than that. You’re taking a gamble. Personally I wouldn’t go to Hershey if it wasn’t going to be over 50 degrees just because of how inconsistent and weird they are with that stuff. You’ll probably get lucky but there’s no guarantee.
