  1. I just spent way too much time reading through all of these trip reports and enjoyed it immensely. Great pictures. It sounds like you had a blast.
  2. They sort of hid it but the rides did operate together for a season or two and it was never replaced. The entrance and exit paths are still visible.
  3. Awesome pictures, thanks for sharing.
  4. Wow, 2 Skyway pics. You guys outdid yourselves this time. Great report. Did you happen to notice if they still closed the water rides early despite the ridiculous heat wave? Knowing them I'm sure they did, lol.
  5. I saw someone take a lap dog on the portable log flume they used to have in Virginia Beach. I couldn't believe they did it and I couldn't believe the ride ops allowed it.
  6. And I bet you won't see them next year, or the year after that, or the year after that, or the year after that either. I'm sill waiting for the markers in Rodeo's pad, Time Warp's pad, Spider's pad and a bunch of others that I can't even remember any more. lol
  7. I've got to admit... I think Maverick's twists are even more abrupt and insane. I think I'm in the minority but I305 to me seems like a bigger but tamer Maverick. Yes I305 is amazing, yes it had the grey out turn, but to me Maverick feels more out of control and I almost feel like it beats I305 at it's own game.
  8. Basically everything at Dorney is always a walk-on (especially Talon and Hydra) so you'll probably have time to add on Posessed and Demon Drop, which are the 2 most intense rides in the park by far. Yeah Posessed is a clone... but it's always a walk on and it's a good ride, plus the holding brake works. None of these rides will have a line except maybe Steel Force... but when I say "line" I mean a 5 minute wait. If time allows ride this in the front seat because it's pretty lame everywhere else but Knoebels is more important so if the wait is significantly longer just sit wherever and try not to fall asleep during the ride. I get that you're short on time and that's cool so I won't suggest everything in the park like I usually do BUT you can't go to Knoebels and not at least ride the Skooters and the Flyers. Add those 2 to the must-ride list and if time allows add Black Diamond (coaster credit if you care, but even if you don't it's very good) and the Haunted Mansion (cut this first if you have to cut something). If you only have time for one of these, ride the Skooters. I'd almost cut Flying Turns if I had to to ride the Skooters.
  9. And by Boogie he means Skyway. At least I hope he does. ... take a drink Boldikus lol
  10. You're correct on that one. Raptor does need a paint job though... and new lights.
  11. I don't know how to describe it... the fact that it doesn't stop at the top so you're not 100% sure when you're at the top is a really cool feature. The thing that really makes it great though is that the drop itself is incredibly powerful compared to other drop towers and it really doesn't slow down until you're so close to the ground that you're convinced you're going to die. It stops on a dime and somehow does it comfortably. I would be willing to say that it's probably my second favorite drop tower (after Demon Drop of course). I'll say this though... the ride is always good, but don't judge Stratosfear on any ride where there are a decent amounf of empty seats. It's a much better ride with a full ride vehicle.
  12. ^^Yeah but riding Millennium Force demonstrates how much better Fury could have been if it weren't in the middle of a field and interacted with nearby trees / tunnels and buildings a little to add to the sensation of speed. Both rides have their pros and cons and they're both amazing. ^ I grey out on the pullout of Millennium Forces drop every single time. It's no Maverick but Millennium Force pulls more G's than basically every B&M hyper not named Fury 325 so it's no slouch. I wouldn't say it's forceful but it's far from forceless.
  13. or marathon the bumper cars and flyers This... Stratosfear is a good one too. Rarely a long wait, ridiculous drop and every ride would cost $2 with tickets. That wristband pays for itself quick.
  14. Like I said... it looks like Dorney. lol For the record I fully acknowledge that looking at webcams are not a good way to gauge attendance, but as we speak, Fury looks to be a walk on. Yes it's a very hot day, but even on days with milder weather that's a very common sight.
  15. Every time I look at the Carowinds webcam I'm surprised by the lack of attendance. Of course I haven't seen the attendance numbers... maybe they're up and I'm no expert on the park but I really assumed that this park would be busier than it has been with the addition of a ride like Fury. On Saturdays the place is a mob scene but every other day the place looks like Dorney.
  16. ^^Wicked Cyclone is amazing, Fury is just much better in my opinion.
  17. Fury is absolutely one of the best coasters I've ever ridden, and of the new for 2015 rides I've ridden (Wicked Cyclone, Fury and Impulse) it's easily the best... it's not even close.
  18. I have plenty of experience in Rehoboth Glad to hear it. Then disregard my comment.
  19. Anyone? Flyers are definitely my favorite flat ride so if these are anything like the ones at Lake Compounce or Knoebels I'd be pretty happy. If you can snap the ones at Lake Compounce then they should erect a statue of you in front of the ride because those things are absolutely terrible. Personally I think the Larson models are complete crap but if you found the Lake Compounce ones snappable I'm sure you'll do fine. lol
  20. When we were at Sea World last year for Bands, Brews and BBQ we were absolutely in love with it. I couldn't be happier that everyone else is ripping off this awesome idea.
  21. That may have been due to phones too. Since riders were standing as opposed to sitting with a lap bar it was always ridiculously easy for them to reach their phones and try to take pictures or videos and if that happened the ops would always stop the lift.
  22. Since the park has 16 coasters it's very likely that 2 or more will be down at the same time. Still, barring weather issues it's very unlikely that any coaster will ever be closed for the entire day. It happens but it's rare. Gatekeeper, Raptor and Dragster are the first coasters to go down due to wind and they usually all go down at the same time. Sky Ride and Windseeker close in even lighter winds, if you see one closed... check to see if the other is closed and that will tell you it's due to wind (actually... if you see Sky Ride closed just assume it IS because of wind because it really almost never breaks down). As far as the others, Maverick, Wicked Twister and Dragster break down all the time because they're extremely complex rides. I won't pretend to know the specifics of how they work but it's very common for these rides to suffer downtime each day, but again they're rarely closed for too long. The other coasters all seem pretty reliable but they're all subject to downtime as well just like every other ride so given the sheer number of rides they have and the fact that 3 of them are Intamin Launch coasters breakdowns are just a way of life.
  23. Oh, well don't hold your visit to Six Flags America against the chain as a whole. Lol
