  1. Yes, make sure you sit in the 2nd or 3rd row of Power Tower. Seriously though ride Millennium Force in the front row at night. Don't miss out on that over some dumb mayflies. Honestly... I have no issue riding the front of anything even at night but as a general rule they seem to love light so rides that are well lit throughout the course like Dragster and Gatekeeper seem to have more of them while on most other coasters they aren't so bad. And on Power Tower you never more forward so they're a non issue. Sorry for the sarcastic comment before lol.
  2. No. If I had to say anything I'd say the mouse as it will probably have the closest thing to a line you'll encounter all day but it doesn't really matter. All other coasters should be basically a walk on all day.
  3. I'm very excited about that haunt building... everything they do to make Thunder Creek Mountain's location so ridiculously inconvenient and tiny that the thought of ever removing it for any kind of expansion is totally squashed is awesome in my book.
  4. The issue isn't that it valleys though, it's that a train ended up in an occupied block. Plus it's totally impractical never to send empty trains. It's going to happen eventually because at the end of the night you need to send empty trains to get everyone back into the station and off the ride (assuming the transfer is at the end, but I'm not familiar with the ride). To load those trains with water dummies would take forever while people are stacked on the brakes. I know you specified "in testing" but you would have the same issue just in sending empty trains at the end of the night.
  5. ^^ The post you quoted is a great post where someone is simply stating their opinion. You on the other hand simply assume that people that have a different opinion than you do only have that opinion because they "can't handle" I305. I've said it before and I'll say it again... I can "handle" it just fine, re-ride it constantly when at KD and have it on my top 10. It's amazing. That being said, I like Fury 325 a lot better. It's my opinion and it's not based on "Not being able to handle" I305... I just think Fury is the better ride. It has better restraints, better airtime (in my opinion, and I don't know or care if it's more forceful airtime but I know it's much more enjoyable with clamshells), I prefer the layout, I love the turnaround, I love the headchopper and I love the intense run out to the turnaround. Just my opinion of course. See how I did that... I stated my opinion without bashing yours. You should try it sometime.
  6. It's always nice to have variety, while Goliath is one of the most forceless hypers ever minus some of the Morgans and I guess excluding the helix, it's still fun and I'm glad it's open.
  7. Possibly, but if it's too low and too many people have it then it's also less appealing.
  8. I'm curious because I don't know, but has Millennium Force ever valleyed? I just have a hard time believing it would because it hits the breaks at 50+ mph doesn't it? It's not about how fast it hits the brakes though, it's about the slowest points on the ride which are the hills on and off of the island (as has been mentioned). The ride flat out crawls over those on cold mornings and since they're so tall the wind can make it even worse if blowing the wrong direction.
  9. Between the Rougarou "heartline" drinking game and the Darien Laker "Cuda Falls" drinking game this website is giving me alcohol poisoning.
  10. I don't believe so, I think it's only on Vimeo. So anyway, I was thinking about this and can I ask a ridiculously nerdy question that would all be speculation anyway? So one train valleyed and the other stopped on the lift and they were walked down. I'm assuming that stop was probably done manually by an alert ride operator pressing E-Stop, correct? I would think that it couldn't have possibly been a block stop because the block ahead of the lift was clear... so in theory the ride would have dropped off the lift and stopped in the mid course right? If this was the case based on having absolutely no knowledge of Cedar Point's procedures or how to operate a coaster, I guess the (very sound) logic would have been either... 1) It's probably much easier to have people walk down the lift than down the spiral staircase on the mid course. 2) You can never be too careful and even though they block check every day and it passes every day an extra block is always a good thing. What do you guys think? I'm just thinking out loud with no real knowledge of anything surrounding the situation, but it would seem to me that if a ride op noticed the valleyed train and e-stopped the coaster then they should be commended for their heads up decision making (even though I'm sure even if they didn't notice everything would have still been fine). Then again maybe I'm wrong and for some reason the ride did detect a problem and stop the lift... I don't know, and because I'm a nerd I'm curious. lol
  11. Nobody should judge Fury without riding it. I did, and it made me eat my words.
  12. Between the lack of braking on the first drop and the minimal mid course braking the ride really does haul through the course. Unless something went wrong with the train I don't think this ride would ever valley unless it stopped in the mid course, which I'm sure it did. Edit: Also, hats off to Fox 8 in Cleveland for having some journalistic integrity with their headline... Cedar Point’s Rougarou roller coaster stops, riders exit safely If this were Charlotte, we'd be hearing about how riders were stranded helplessly all while flying helicopters over the park during test runs... then making a news story about the ride sending empty trains, and then making another story when riders were "stranded" a few feet outside the station for like 10 minutes and then when reporting how "another ride" (the kiddy coaster) was stuck while only showing b roll of Intimidator.
  13. Yes... you're right of course but if you watch Rougarou on a block check it crawls back to the station so slowly that you'd swear it was going to valley. I'd imagine even a minor issue with a wheel or something combined with a stop on the mid course would spell big problems. Here's a video of what I mean. The ride had previously valleyed and was being pulled up to the mid course. When it goes behind the trees you'll see that there's a point where it can't be going more than a few MPH (go to 1:43). Obviously every coaster goes slower than normal once it re-starts from a dead stop on the mid course but this ride really pushes it. Also, it seems to go even slower through that section with the new trains than it did with the old, most likely much heavier trains. [vimeo] [/vimeo] EDIT: And in that video you'll see they started the drop and then stopped it so they could push it and give it extra momentum because they knew it needed all the help it could get. It's actually pretty funny to watch.
  14. I bet it came to a stop in the mid course. It's almost scary how slowly it comes back to the station during morning block checks.
  15. I'd be more excited about that if it wasn't Great Adventure but I'd imagine cutting through a few thousand people in line, smoking weed on the Skyway and staying in your seat when a ride is over without a Platinum Flash pass and yelling at people who wanted to sit there all while the ride operator lets them ride again because they don't want to call security are all banned from the park too and we see how well those things are enforced. ... and I saw all 3 of those things on my last visit alone.
  16. I don't know why anyone cares but personally I hope they start calling the Scrambler a coaster next just to see how worked up everyone gets.
  17. Okay, thanks for the explanation guys. Like I said, I'm not an expert on the ride so I didn't think of that.
  18. I must be riding a different Fury than everyone else. It's not Maverick, El Toro or I305 but it's amazingly intense, at least for the first half of the ride.
  19. That makes sense, but why is that not a problem on Raptor, Rougarou or Gatekeeper which are all in the same chain? I'm not questioning you, I'm just curious. Also, in the amazingly rare event of an evac from the MCBR if you had bins labeled 1,2 and 3 couldn't you just grab the shoes out of it and bring them to the MCBR? That would be a hassle if it happened often but I would think it almost never does. Right?
  20. Nope, if you ride Mean Streak in the front row of any car it's not rough and it's never been rough (IMHO). You may need to lean forward and keep off the seat back a bit but it's much smoother than Blue Streak (and Blue Streak isn't rough). I think most of the complaining about Mean Streak is that it's a huge ride in a high profile park. That being said if you ride in the back row of any car or if you don't lean forward at all the ride can be really rough, but I still think there are plenty of other coasters out there that are just as rough. Mean Streak still has a really dull layout though, and RMC could do wonders for this ride. But in the meantime I'll enjoy it for what it is... a leisurely ride that doesn't do anything through a beautiful ride structure next to a beautiful lake. It's not so bad.
  21. Honestly why not? Who cares? You can ride Banshee barefoot, you can ride Rougarou, Raptor, Wicked Twister and Gatekeeper barefoot... what kinds of hazerdous things exist on Diamondback or the Diamondback platform that make this policy necessary? If that's truly what's holding up dispatches then I don't get it, and honestly you should be able to ride this ride barefoot as for many people their feet don't touch the floor and they could probably lose them. I don't blame the ride ops for that if they're just doing their jobs, and maybe there's a reason for it that I just don't understand because I'm not an operations expert but I'm really curious as to what that reason could possibly be.
  22. Seriously? You're the first person I've ever heard complain about roughness on Ninja.
  23. I think basically everyone prefers Cedar Point's Intamin coasters to their B&M's, but all 3 B&M's (especially Raptor) are amazing rides too. They compliment eachother very well.
  24. Great pictures again. While I really didn't care for Lakemont I agree that Skyliner is underrated and absolutely loved Leap the Dips.
