Wasn't Dorney was supposed to get a GCI called Heavy Lumber sometime in the near future? No. What the hell are you talking about this time? -
Worst Coaster Ever?
coasterbill replied to Mind Eraser's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
No. Grizzly is just about universally liked by enthusiasts. It's a very enjoyable ride, especially in the front seat. -
As you said, it's a much cheaper investment than a new ride so it seems like a pretty safe investment. If they didn't get the response they wanted from Rougarou I'm sure they wouldn't be doing this, and this is likely cheaper than Rougarou as they have 1 less train they need to buy. I'm sure a new coaster would bring in more people, but it's also more expensive.

Oh yeah I don't deny that it would be a stupid strategical move but on day 2 if you want to take it slow and don't really care then go for it. The only way it would ever be a good idea to ride Gatekeeper early in the morning would be if it's running early on an absurdly windy day where it's likely to go down for wind later on. -

Yeah, here it is. It was awful. They've since added a new HD screen and ribbon boards and it looks like an entirely new arena. -

This. Power Surge and 1001 Nacht are the two problem children of Knoebels. Everything else is very reliable. -

Yes Honestly it's going to be pretty slow so you should get a lot of rides in. Don't ever ride any coasters in the front of the park early in the day (unless you want to ride Gatekeeper for Early Entry one day) but otherwise no strategy is needed. As far as food, I really love Famous Daves in the Marina. Exit through the Marina gate under Valravn, walk across the access road and you'll see it. Ask for a table outside. The food is really good but when combined with the atmosphere it's a really great place to eat. If you have a Platinum Pass show it for everything you buy in the park, including Lunch at Famous Daves. Other than that just the standard tips, get a front seat ride on Dragster. Front seat and lean forward on Mean Streak with your back off the seat back if you don't want to die and pull the seatbelts as tight as possible on Magnum to avoid getting slammed into the restraints. Oh and ride the damn Sky Ride. Oh, and if you go to the park on Sunday evening ride Gemeni then. They're going to start losing staff and they may not race it on a weekday with an 8:00 closing. Ride Gemeni in the middle row of any car, not on a wheel seat. Same goes for Blue Streak. Have fun! Maxair says hi. lol PS: I F**ing love Windseeker. -
I think you may be giving people too much credit. Six Flags Fiesta Texas built a clone of an invert that's literally down the street and nobody questioned it. I just don't think a lot of people will notice, and even if they do it'll deliver a good enough ride that they won't care. People really pay very little attention to this type of thing. Some people won't even realize that it's Vortex with new trains. Plenty of people think Rougarou is a brand new ride.

Nothing has been confirmed, but Carowinds relocated theirs and it stands to reason that they'll relocate this one too. -

Agreed, but I'd be shocked if it doesn't end up over by the old Shoot the Rapids location. -
The second half is honestly underrated. It transitions from one of the greatest comedies of all time into a serious war movie but it's a really solid war movie.

Bridgeport actually has a semi-nice arena now. it used to be a complete joke with no scoreboard over center ice but it's pretty cool now. I'm impressed. There's usually some nice energy in the building too (unlike in a place like Hartford which is awful). -

Oh yeah! Quicktime! Let's party like it's Windows 95! As soon as I saw the quicktime file I knew a coasterbill comment was coming. There's nothing to do at the office today and I have a lot of free time until 5:00. All other posters take warning. -

Agreed. But if you hit both of these early (after you get off Farenheit and Laff Trakk), lines should be manageable. Also you can save Lightning Racer for later since it never has a line but DO NOT SKIP IT. It's a great ride. Ride Storm Runner semi-early also. -

Yes. It's worth it. Get the awful skip the line pass. Do you think I could still manage to ride everything without blowing $60? Will it be that crowded? How does that pass even work? Start time? Do you do all the rides at once? If you get there when they open you can absolutely do it (easy with only a 2 hour drive or so). Ride Laff Trakk and Farenheit first, then work your way from the back to the front. It's cheaper because it sucks. Six Flags America is awful and shouldn't even be in the same conversation as a park like Hershey. There's a reason there are never lines and nobody ever goes there despite the fact that it's right between two huge metropolitan areas and there are still no lines even when every coaster runs one train. At Hershey every coaster (except obviously the boomerang) runs multiple trains and lines are still long despite the fact that it's in the middle of nowhere because people are willing to travel for a park that doesn't suck like Six Flags America. Don't listen to this awful advice. Go to Hershey. it's infinitely better in every possible way. -
The same way they marketed a wood coaster effectively when one has already operated in the same damn park for almost 30 years. If you can't market a new or dramatically improved coaster then you suck at marketing. Don't forget the heartline. Why oh why is nobody talking about the heartline? So funny story, remember when they announced Rougarou and all of the "experts" on this site kept saying the same thing ad nauseam, constantly and wouldn't shut up about it? They said it with tremendous authority as if they thought of something that the experts who actually design coasters for a living had never thought of. And then remember when Rougarou opened and it was great and they were all wrong minus a few delicate p*ssies who refused to admit they were wrong so they started talking about how they could "feel" the lack of a heartline or how it was still "rough" even though just about everyone else unanimously agreed that it was super-smooth and a great ride? Good times... good times. Rougarou is a huge improvement, it's a ton of fun, it's amazingly smooth, they know what they're doing.
