Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
coasterbill replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Probably not, but if so it still won't be running for early entry and neither will Maverick because they'll both be down for mechanical reasons so enthusiasts will be stuck at the back of Cedar Point with nothing to do except complain on TPR and social media or start their trek to the front of the park where nothing will be running either except Midway Carousel and Ocean Motion. The really stupid ones will line up for Dragster as if they actually expect it to open at 10:00. They'll complain, and I'll laugh at them for being surprised by any of this. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
coasterbill replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would bet a large chunk of change that it will open on Saturday, May 6th. 10AM-10PM with a highly unorganized early entry at 9AM where just about no coasters will run until about 9:45 because it's opening day and enthusiasts will bitch as if they didn't expect it. Then the site will be flooded with people bitching about how Cedar Point didn't seem ready for opening day because tons of rides were closed and it was a sh*t show. Friday will probably be Ohio State Day with an equally disorganized preview night to follow. Lines for Season Pass processing will be hilariously long and will lead to tons of bitching on TPR and social media from people who were too dumb to just renew their passes online and keep using the same ones. And for anyone laughing or thinking this is a ridiculous post, come dig it up on May 6th 2017 and marvel at how Nostradamus has nothing on me. Nothing... -
I have a question. I liked "Oak Island Creative" on Facebook because they're amazing and the masterminds behind the "Holiday in the Park" events and noticed a post about the Six Flags over Georgia Fright Fest. Are they this heavily involved in Fright Fest at the other parks or just in Georgia? This seems to be the only one they ever mentioned so I'm curious as to whether or not they might expand their use of Oak Island's services throughout the chain. If Holiday in the Park is any indication then this could be a really exciting development.

Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread
coasterbill replied to the_rock401's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^Oh good lord. I've been trying to diffuse the situation for awhile and I've been trying to leave but since you insist on piling on I want to point out that nobody outside of this thread full of people who have always been offended by everything was offended. So yes. If you find yourself offended by the term "PowerPoint Presentation" then I don't feel bad about offending you. Just the other day another 13 / 14 year old was banned and (deservedly and in hilarious fashion) called "one of the biggest idiots we've ever had on TPR." by Robb himself (which again, he deserved and everyone laughed) and nobody batted an eye but when I say the word "PowerPoint" with no personal insults people lose their minds. I direct you once again to the disclaimer at the bottom of the site. I didn't intend to offend anyone, but if you were offended I sincerely don't care. Especially when the guy I was ribbing has been totally cool about it and hit me back with some surprisingly funny sarcasm of his own. See... ^Calm down and have some fun like this guy. -

That's literally the point of the thread. Anyway, sorry if you were offended by that I can't help you. I don't mean to hijack your thread so I'll leave it be for now and let everyone go back to complaining about how long it's been since they received their last coaster and how poorly the park is being run. -
Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

You think that was rude? That was sarcasm, entirely free of any personal insults. I saw his age and that's why I approached it the way that I did. Also, it's not a matter of agree / disagree. It's not like he said "I think we're getting a Top spin next year" and I disagreed. He implied that he knew how to run a theme park than the people actually running Valleyfair. That's a ridiculous statement that deserves some light hearted ribbing. Calm down and read the disclaimer at the bottom of the website. Nobody was trying to insult anyone, and if they found that insulting then they need to lighten up. -

On the subject of Wild Beast, the Mean Streak trick works wonders but I don't remember if there is a choice of seat or not. -

I just came here to post the exact same thing. I guess enthusiasts will need to be patient. What could possibly go wrong? -

Come on, it's not a big deal. Stop backpedaling and move on. I just wish enthusiasts as a whole would admit that we mostly don't know d**k about the corporate side of things and should stop telling the people who actually do this for a living how to do their jobs. -

TR: The CHARM of Conneaut Lake Park
coasterbill replied to John Peck's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Somebody got married at Conneaut Lake? No open bar would be good enough to get me back to that hell hole. Nice report and photos though even though we disagree on the definition of the word "charm". -

Call the park and inform them of this incredible idea. Tell them that you're 13, you have tons of experience with theme park economics and development in Rollercoaster Tycoon (specify that you've played versions 1,2 AND 3 so they know you're serious and not some random guy of the street who's talking out of his a**) and that you're worried about their "un-smartness". I'm sure they'll get back in touch with you immediately to schedule a conference call so they can learn how to save themselves from financial ruin. If I were you I'd call them now and then immediately start working on a PowerPoint. Be sure to include a lot of graphs and charts in the presentation, take screenshots of the graphs in Rollercoaster Tycoon if necessary. -
Geauga Lake Discussion Thread

^ I agree with this entirely. We visited in 2001 and were blown away. The thing that really set it apart for us was the quality of the shows on the old Sea World side of the park. They were infinitely better than anything Six Flags was putting on elsewhere and it made for a really well rounded park. I understand it from a business standpoint too, but for awhile that was a really great park and the "3 parks for the price of one" sales pitch made them a strong player against Cedar Point. Their TV ads were actually targeting Cedar Point directly (by name which is a rarity) and showing testimonials about why they were better because they offered "3 parks" with a single admission. Six Flags was being incredibly aggressive, it's really a shame they weren't able to maintain that. -
Here's another 13 year old offering business advice to Valleyfair as he's concerned about their "un-smartness".

I mean, Thunderhead (especially near the front) is loaded with floater airtime on hills that are so small you don't even realize they're airtime hills until you're floating out of your seat on something you assumed was just going to be a strong lateral. GCI's rarely feature ejector air but they're usually loaded with fun floater hills that you barely even notice. Watching a POV of a ride like that is useless for trying to gauge the ride experience. This is true of all coasters but especially GCI's.
