  1. I also just want to put it out there that, at the moment, California's death rate due to COVID is .043% of the population. That's right, the state is making absolutely ridiculous decisions based on point ZERO four three percent. At this point, you still have a much much HIGHER chance of getting into TWO car accidents on the way to Disneyland than you do dying from COVID because you went to Disneyland. It makes no sense at all. And just to be clear, I am **NOT** one of those batshit crazy "Anti-Mask" "Plandemic" people. But I 100% appreciate the businesses that have opened, and I follow the rules, wear my mask everywhere I go, and I keep my distance from people. (I mean, i can't stand people anyway so why would i want to be anywhere near them???). I don't understand why this is so damn difficult for many people. Actually, I do know the answer, 51% of Americans are stupid. And that is just the sad reality of where we are at. Also, have you seen this? It's perfect!

  2. There are other jobs available. Not even close to a fair comparison. And I’m someone who is a causality of this nonsense. The rational argument you should be making is how if the goal is to keep people from congregating and spreading the virus, why isn’t everything shut down? Costco on the weekend is a madhouse. Same for malls. Even Sea World operating as a “zoo” and Knotts as “outdoor dining” being open makes no sense if the goal is to keep people from spreading the virus. What magical powers to rides have to spread the virus?

  4. I really feel for the California parks and people. Trust me, I'm the first to admit that our Florida governor is an idiot and slightly terrifying in his loyalty to Trump but even our very democratic county and democratic county/city leaders looked at the science, listened to the health department and found a safe way to open up the parks. The parks are also being very responsible (well, the large ones!) and going above and beyond the governors loose guidelines. It's ridiculous and just completely asinine to keep some of the California parks closed while allowing some to operate under weird loopholes. Getting back on track for this thread, SFMM barely has anything indoor anyways and would be super safe to operate!

  5. Great report! The return times with the Flash Pass at Great Adventure this past weekend were equally as crazy. But I would much rather be strolling around the midway rather than packed into a bunch of switchbacks with others right now. That's a bummer Wonder Woman was taken off the Flash Pass, but that does make sense with the reduced capacity. I always find it awkward trying to get to Flash Pass merge points that are inside the main queue. I had a similar issue at Dollywood earlier this year trying to get to the Timesaver entrance for Lightning Rod when the queue spilled onto the midway.

  6. Eesh, seeing how little you got done even with gold FP, makes me glad I'm budgeting for platinum when I come down next month. Even if there was that deal with the Freaky car show. I'm glad you had fun, but I want more flats and rerides.

  7. Bert we are talking about a little Carowinds, Dollywood, SFOG, run in the summer if Joel can get off work for everything we want to do. Let me know if you start planning something.

  8. He has a lot more history with Kings Dominion than just 2 years. You also forgot that Carnival and Winterfest also came in under him (I know they aren't rides, but I feel they are big improvements for the overall park). A quick Google search of Bridgette, I have high hopes that this will be a good transition for Kings Dominion. She's worked her way up thru many positions at World's of Fun and has been actively involved in park operations both at a park and corporate levels. I would venture to guess Kings Dominion will become more aggressive in building upon seasonal events and adding rides. I don't think you'll see anything seriously impressive for the next 3 years depending on how/when everything recovers post COVID. I do think you'll see a lot of infrastructure and beautification work during this time. If any new rides, probably mostly flat rides. I would also venture to guess that White Water Canyon's days are numbered (seeing as how Cedar Fair seems to be removing these from most parks). Between Volcano's empty location and White Water Canyon, that's a lot of land already accessible to the park to build on.

  9. Im sure Disney is a huge tax generator. Let the park and hotel tax dollars not show up for a year and see who needs who more. Florida was smart and realized Orlando lives off the Amusement industry

  10. Bingo. Could not have said it better myself. When I visited Taste of Knott's back in August, this was constantly on my mind. "This event is great, but the park literally feels like it's open already - just no rides. What's the difference?" Wacky policies are one thing, but inconsistent wacky policies are much more frustrating.
