  1. So if SFSTL is so awful and you don't give a shit about it; why do you keep coming on here to talk about it? I think I asked you once before when you were criticizing "thoosies" why you kept engaging them if you didn't like them. Don't think I got an answer but maybe I missed it. Guess what? If you picked any 3 year period we've all had a lot of stuff happen. So what? What's the point? It will take as long as it takes to do it properly as has been stated a million times before. It isn't a competition to be done faster than events in your life. You think it's too long? Cool. Don't worry about it. Don't come to the park for the carousel. Want to ride one with your daughter then how about the one at the zoo, or Faust Park, or city museum, or the mall, or any of a hundred other places. It can be a crappy one, you already said it doesn't matter.

  2. Really. You had to open up this can of worms. Again. Shame on you And 2026 for this carousel is 3 years from now, unless it actually went down in 2020?

  3. 2026 is the restoration of the Smithsonian Carousel. when you have artisans fully restoring the horses/chariots/seats one or two at a time? Yes, it takes a long time. assume ~1 month for each horse.. . so let's assume 56 horses (on a standard carousel). divide by 2, because we're going to assume they are going to do 2 at a time (ie: hired two artisans). that will take 2.4 years. Smithsonian is saying 2026, that's 3 1/2 years from now. . . so they either have only one artisan working it, or it's taking longer than 1 month per feature. regardless, a true restoration takes time. and that's why those continually bitching about SFStL are just noise. . because they don't care about the facts, they just want to complain. (complain that the park didn't bring in a temporary replacement during the refurbishment? yeah, right there with you on that. .and the park SHOULD still do that for the current season). but just bitching it's taking a long time? yeah, that's just bitching to bitch about it).

  4. Nope. Will continue to make fun of the park. It's a Six Flags. No one will care about this. It will be trashed again in less than ten years.

  6. Snoopy's Racing Railway opened last Thursday (May 18th). Canada's Wonderland released an official POV of Snoopy's Racing Railway today! It looks like a great addition to Planet Snoopy!

  7. I'm so glad she was a part of the creation of her Bio-Musical, "Tina". Right up to when the actor portraying her, won The TONY for the part. She was an amazing performer. Got to see her - experience her - on two different tours. With Ike, and then on her own with the (what I call) "What's Love Tour." Awesome performer she was.

  8. I think you misread that into meaning the SFSTL carousel will not be done until 2026 but it's the Smithsonian one that won't be done until 2026. SFSTL at last update is planned for re opening this year, hopefully in time for National Carousel Day on July 25 but obviously that's not been announced as a for sure yet.

  9. It's not so much bitching about it as it is purely making fun of the park. It's just laughable at this point. One month each horse? Cool. Bring in more people to do the job. Again. This is Six Flags. Relatively no one cares about this grand carousel. At the Smithsonian, people will actually pay attention to it, because they visit to appreciate things like restoration. The juice ain't worth the squeeze at a Walmart theme park.

  10. That's the modern standard, Steve. A church I attended when I was a child was completely refurbished in about 6 months, inside and out. It's massive. Original artwork throughout the huge insanely tall ceilings. Every pew was refinished. The stained glass was repaired. There was remodeling of areas. All of the stonework on the outside was cleaned. New concrete was added to the front. All while we used it. In half the timeline the carousel has taken to be refurbished: -Businesses from the ground up have opened in my town. -A massive park with a, splash pad, and play playground has been a behind my house. -Multiple roller coasters have been constructed -A new fire station was planned and constructed in my town. -I started a new position at work, got fully trained, left that job, started another one, and am already familiar enough with it to be training others. -I've owned four different cars -And I've had four family members die... Oh, and I just learned that the cars are on the track at Indiana Beach for a roller coaster that killed someone, was dismantled, completely refurbished, and reassembled in another country. Wasn't Kentucky Kingdom refurbished in less time, including the construction of a new roller coaster? Lastly, I can imagine the Smithsonian is going to put in a lot more work on their restoration than SFSTL is. Yet, people want to tell me that I should feel unreasonable, just because another carousel is taking a hilarious amount of time to refurbish? Nope. Don't care. Sorry. I've eaten a lot of crow in my life, but I'm not settling for this as a "gotcha" moment.

  11. It could be worded better, I agree. Most people probably assume "before" means the literal night before. In reality, it's one entry on any night during preview hours before you use it during normal operations.

  12. You shouldn't need Fast Track on a Thursday/Friday unless you plan on doing the waterpark, which is woefully small for the demand it gets. Budget for it in case crowds are more than anticipated, though. I would definitely go on Thursday. Also, don't forget about Preview Night - with your tickets, you can get in to the park 2 hours before close on the night before your main day at the park. That is a good time to knock some things out. Either way, Fast Track or not, go to Fahrenheit first, then Wild Mouse, the Laff Track, then Wildcat. The first three have awful capacity and the third is the new hotness so will obviously be in demand (and possibly have some kinks still being worked out). If you or the family are fans of shooting dark rides, I'd also work Reese's Cupfusion somewhere in there early as well....its supposedly one of the better examples of the genre, but I've personally never seen the big deal. Also, the Chocolate World ride located outside the main gate opens an hour (maybe 2?) before the main park, so that's a good time to knock it out if you're interested.

  15. we took your advice and got there for the open, it was -dead-. four laps on wicked cyclone and the kids never even had to move from the front row. kids did two laps on everything else they wanted to do (pandemonium, superman, batman, joker) and then a couple other rides and we were out of the by 1:30 when the rain went from drizzle to pretty heavy. a lot of bus groups showed up around 12:30, i think i counted over 20 in the parking lot when we left and it was pouring.. it was pretty miserable by 2:00 as we were driving away honestly, it was amazing lol.. if anything not having any waiting time between rides actually made my wife and i a bit woozy after a while, which doesn't usually happen. but we got more rides in 2 hours than we did last year in 8 hours

  16. I had a chance to get 4 rides on Pipeline this weekend with my oldest during the passholder preview and we had a really fun time. I gotta say, my expectations weren't high for this ride, or low really, but it's pretty fun. The trains bounce way more than I thought they would and it produces some really unique sensations. I thought that the layout after the inversion would be really dull but there were several unexpected pops of air time that the seats created that otherwise probably wouldn't exist. For a "gimmick" coaster it's a pretty fun little gimmick. I have no idea where this thing ranks but it's a heck of a lot of fun. Mako is still my favorite coaster at SeaWorld, but this is a really nice addition. The whole area around the ride looks great, it's very minimal on the themeing but the sand and the palm trees along the waters edge really looks great and has a nice beachy vibe to it. I did notice there was an awful lot of space on some pathways around the ride which makes me think there's some potential to really bring this area into use during the various festivals throughout the year. Lots of nice places for some food stands, and the whole plaza is goin to be a great viewing spot for the fireworks in the summer time. As far as the loading procedures I really didn't notice any issues. Granted it was a passholder preview so crowds were limited, but we had a few rides where the line filled almost all of the main switchbacks below the stairs down the launch track and it took 10 maybe 15 minutes? They did have to re-check a few restraints each train but it really didn't feel slow or anything. Also I think I saw one person get turned away for the restraints but also noticed several larger people ride with no issues. Feels like there was a lot of discussion about the restraints being restrictive for larger people early on when the ride first opened, but I think that's just a thing that people (bloggers) bring up now to have something to talk about when it's really not that big of an issue. Overall it feels like a really solid addition for the park, probably not gonna be anyone's favorite coaster ever but it's a really fun ride.

  17. Hersheypark has announced that Wildcat's Revenge will be opening on June 2nd! https://stories.hersheypa.com/wildcats-revenge-hybrid-coaster-to-open-june-2-at-hersheypark/ WOOD AND STEEL COASTER FEATURES FOUR INVERSIONS WITH WORLD’S LARGEST UNDERFLIP Hersheypark amusement park today announced that Wildcat’s Revenge hybrid coaster will open to the public on June 2, 2023, as part of a historic summer in The Sweetest Place On The Earth. The wood and steel hybrid will be the first at Hersheypark as part of an impressive 15-coaster collection. With the debut of Wildcat’s Revenge, Pennsylvania’s largest amusement park is now home to the most coasters in the Northeast. Hersheypark will be open daily starting Thursday, May 25, with the 11-acre Boardwalk At Hersheypark water park opening Saturday, May 27. Hersheypark summer tickets include three parks in one featuring 70 rides and thrilling coasters, a full water park and a zoo, with summer getaways and entertainment throughout the destination. UNIQUE HYBRID COASTER EXPERIENCE The first hybrid manufactured by Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC) in Pennsylvania, Wildcat’s Revenge adds an all-new steel track with unique elements to the wooden framework for a one-of-a-kind thrilling ride experience found only at Hersheypark. The debut of Wildcat’s Revenge comes 100 years after the first Wild Cat ride opened at the Park, the first coaster purchased by founder Milton S. Hershey. The 2-minute and 36-second experience begins as riders climb a 140-foot hill, plunge into an 82-degree drop and hit a maximum speed of 62 miles per hour along 3,510 feet of red track on a black steel and wood structure. The pursuit continues as riders stalk their prey through four inversions, including the World’s Largest Underflip, an inversion that begins with an upward climb, followed by a counterclockwise 270° roll and a dive down towards the side. Located in the Midway America region of Hersheypark, Wildcat's Revenge features a fully renovated coaster station with a design that harkens back to the iconic 1923 Wild Cat station, with low-pitched gables around the roof's perimeter. Guests of Hershey’s height requirement and taller (48 inches and above) will sit in one of three custom trains, showcasing fully-dimensional black, charcoal and silver wild cats exacting revenge on their wooden predecessor.
