  1. Speaking of the park’s flat rides, I was at the park today for my first time (far exceeded my expectations and the crowds were pretty low even with a bunch of school groups) and noticed that the park runs their Zephyr (Wave Swinger) and Windseeker much slower than other parks. Wind seeker was down when I first arrived but started running around 2:30 and it didn’t even look like the cars were swinging out to an angle like the others I have been on. Is this some sort of rule in the Carolinas? Just found it odd. Other observations: Fury 325 is every bit as good as everyone says. Truly a “world class” coaster. Intimidator was also amazing. Not sure why it doesn’t get as much love as other B&M hypers. I loved the second drop that sort of twists on the way down and the floater airtime was great. Hurler was garbage. Sorry to be so blunt there, but wow, there was nothing redeeming about this ride at all. I’d say the same about Vortex. It seems to take 3-4 minutes to adjust each train, so stacking happens every time. The ride is also just not much fun. Nighthawk was down as the train seemed to be in pieces Fury. And I am so glad I wandered through Camp Snoopy as I totally forgot they had the old Mack Sea Storm from Canada’s Wonderland. Such a fun ride that I wish more parks had. Oh yeah, Copperhead Strike was awesome too. The pre launch “barn” reminded me of Mystic Timbers shed, and I loved the chickens! Overall the park was very nicely maintained, the employees were having fun with April Fools Day, and there is a nice collection of rides and attractions. I honestly can’t wait to go back again!

  2. ^I agree. I find such comparisons pointless. You may as well compare ET with Rise of the Resistance while you're at it.

  4. I get why people want to compare these rides, but I’m really not going to do it because they’re nothing alike. Space Mountain (in all of its forms) is a rollercoaster with very, very light theming on the actual ride by Disney standards. Mummy is much more of a dark ride where the coaster sections themselves are much less impressive than the ones on Space Mountain and are broken up by lots of show scenes but the whole experience is fantastic. I’m not picking a favorite and you can’t make me. I’ve been on Orlando Mummy, Paris, Anaheim and Orlando Space (and I love them all for different reasons). I don’t even know if I could pick a favorite of the three Space Mountains I’ve been on, let alone compare them to Mummy. I love the Paris mountain for being so unique (and more “coaster” than I’d expect from Disney), I love the Anaheim one for being a ton of fun and very polished ride, I love the Orlando one for being “Magnum in Space” and bringing a hilariously aggressive ride experience to a park where it doesn’t fit in at all and I’m surprised that it doesn’t kill people’s grandparents multiple times per day.

  5. ^ yeah that Sea Storm is amazing isn't it? Very much like Cedar Downs (at CP). . it only LOOKS like a kiddie ride

  6. Picture from Vekoma's Instagram of the tilt track sections. Interesting that the caption mentions four tilt coasters. We know of this, Energylandia's and Six Flags Qiddiya, but not sure yet where the fourth is going. Maybe China? Or maybe Energylandia's getting two, just because it's Energylandia and that's the kind of thing they do.

  9. From the photo of him at dispatch and other photos I think it was height preventing the harness from rotating further. This was linked from a Reddit post. Note the guy on the left. https://imgur.com/a/15kXOhk He's not very big, but the harness was hitting the top of his shoulders (per his comment)

  10. Maybe there should be a requirement for rides to have surveillance cams in the stations. It'd catch any operator errors and could be used for an investigation, but it'd be private video, so less like to make the rounds on Twitter. And, yeah, Twitter is a nightmare. I posted a warning so that people who can't handle stuff like this don't accidentally see this video like I did, and while most of the responses were people thanking me, there are a few people who were... ugh. I woke up today to messages from some dude berating me for "putting attention on this tragic accident" and then another guy sending me a link to the video. Like, wow, y'all have no empathy whatsoever for others.

  11. Agreed, I don't really care what colors they paint the coasters, I'm just glad they are painting them!
