Xxhershey818xX Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Ok I have question my fried is planning to take me and 4 other people with here to Cedar Point during the beggining of August and well personally i would love to go cause it would be my first trip there and i want to have fun but... I need some help predicting the crowdedness of a weekday? also are there any fastpass type things that we should know about just in case there are a fair amount of people?
crazysxycool Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Well considering August will still be part of summer, it's bound to be crowded. I don't think I've ever gone there and not endured a crowd. But on a positive note, the lines tend to move fast. Your longest wait will probably be Millenium Force and Top Thrill Dragster. I know at one time they were offering fast passes for both of those attractions but I'm not for sure as I haven't been in year. So overall, I think you guys should be ok. CSC
ttdmfwtm Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Cedar Point got rid of their fast lane system last year.
USRoadTripper Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 I know you asked about weekedays, but last year I went on a Sunday in July and the park wasn't terribly crowded. I arrived at noon, but had I arrived at park opening, I could have done all the rides plus some. We did not rush, had a full service dinner, stopped to watch the evening show, and we only missed three coasters that day. The following day, Monday, the park was really busy...at least twice as many people as the Sunday we were there. Waits were fairly bad for everything, and I doubt that we could have gotten in all the coasters on just the Monday. So if you can, I'd recommend a Sunday for your visit based on my experience last year. -Julie
Cheesey Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 I'm also going to be going to Cedar Point July 13-14. That's a Thursday and a Friday(in July). What type of lines should I expect then?
Blue0ctane Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 I've been to Cedar Point August 18th-21st. This is what the lines will probably be: 1.5 hours: TTD 1 hour: MF, maXair, Skyhawk, Raptor 45 minutes: Mantis, most water rides 30 minutes: Wicked Twister 15 minutes: Magnum 10 minutes: Gemini, Wildcat 5 minutes: Blue Streak, Mean Streak
JamesMC Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 The thing about Cedar Point that you have to factor in, is that it's a ROOMY park, so even with big crowds, there's a lot of space to breathe. The longest line I have ever waited in was an hour and 40 min for Top Thrill Dragster in its debut year and an hour plus for Millenium it's debut year. Quickest lines (based on my last trip) Gemini, Mean Streak, Magnum.
Cheesey Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 What rides should I hit in the morning, when we get in for early entry (we're staying at the Breakers Express.) Should we go get in line for dragster and wait for it to open, or should we ride some of the rides that will be open at 9:00 (such as MF or Raptor)?
crazysxycool Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 If it's your first time riding Dragster, then I say yes. Sometimes the crowd can be unpredictable - when I rode it, the wait was an hour and 1/2.
coastermaniac Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 When I was at Cedar Point on Monday, June 12th, I went on maXair twice and it took like a 1/2 hour to do. That line goes fast. It's 50 people per cycle, and like 1 and a 1/2 minutes per cycle. Also, the Millenium Force line goes farly fast as well. When I went on Friday, June 16th, I waited all the way in the third section, and it took only like maybe an hour or so to wait.

Jumboshrmp Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 I may be going next summer. Hey wait, I just realized they'll have another coaster there when I go I want to ride all of the coasters at least once, do most of the flat rides (since I haven't been on many flats and want to experience as many as possible), and I also will probably want rerides on some things. Any single rider lines? Are you allowed to choose which row you sit in, or do they tell you where to sit? Finally, is 2 days enough? I would want at least 3 days, but 2 may be as many as I am going to get. CP Fans, I know that there are a lot of you out there, can anyone else share some advice for a first time visit to Cedar Point?
ConleyKE Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 I've only been to Cedar Point once (two years ago) but I'm going in 2 weeks! Yeah, be sure to hit all the coasters. As for flat rides, the only major ones that you shouldn't pass up are Maxair, Skyhawk, PowerTower, and Demon Drop (since there are very few of these Intamin drop rides left). I don't recall any single rider lines, but you choose where to sit on every coaster that I can recall except Disaster Transport (they just count off so many people and have to hurry to a seat). They just got rid of their fast pass system last year I heard. As to how long to stay, it really depends on when you go during the week. Last time I went was on a Friday and Saturday in July and it was packed. However, we were still able to ride all the coasters at least once, but we had to sacrifice the water park. This year I'm going on Sunday to do the Twilight hours at the water park (after 4pm for only like 15 dollars). Then I HIGHLY suggest getting the Ride and Slide pass for two days at Soak City and Cedar Point (which I will be doing on the weekdays of Monday and Tuesday). It's a great deal for only 65 dollars a person. Last time I went we didn't even do the water park, since it took two full days for the rides with the weekend crowds. That's why this year we are first of going during the week, and doing a night at Soak City and 2 days at the park for only about 80 dollars each, which is amazing. Hope I helped you there!!
odene497 Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 When I went there two years ago, the first thing I did was head to disaster transport. It's air conditioned, and will be busy later in the day. It's a cool ride but not worth it if the lines are long. If you go first thing, chances are it'll be a walk-on. From there, I went to wicked twister, and that was prettymuch a walk-on also. I wasn't there when they had maxair and skyhawk, so idk what to tell ya about those. I went for two days. I didn't get on TTD the first day, but went there first thing the second day, and waited while they did tests. A lot of people got discouraged and left. By the time it opened, we had moved so far up in the line that it was a bout a ten minute wait. As for MF, we decided we'd just have to wait, and it was a two hour line. But that was the longest line we waited in, and from then on it was only about an hour or less. idk if any of thats helps or not.
CoasterFanatic Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Average Wait Times for the month of August It looks like the waits are about half as long the weekdays as opposed to the weekends, but since it is Cedar Point, still count a couple of long ones. If you absolutely MUST cut the line, try this. (I got to try this someday)
paulTT Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 i just recently visited cedar point for my first time July 14-18, it was awesome during saturday and sunday the park was a little bit crowded, but the lines moved fast. if your staying in a hotel and get the early entrance pass u can ride MF in the morning with little to no line ups. TTD opens at 10:00am its better to get in line before it opens to avoid 1-2 hour waits and the heat.!! the park will always be crowded but its such a huge park ull be surprised how short the wait time is for some rides average 15 to 30min.
imdrunk Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 I'm headed to CP the weekend before Memorial Day in May. Any experiences with crowds during the time before memorial day? I'm not expecting much.
scooterdoug Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Hi all, I hope nobody minds me adding a similar question to this thread, I figured it was better than creating a whole new thread. I am also considering heading to CP, either the week of May 13-18 or May 20-24. These are the first two weeks it is open and I would definitely be going mid-week. I went in September 2006 (the Sunday after Labor Day) and experienced very low crowds. A friend of mine who lives near Cedar Point said that I should expect more crowds during mid-week May than the Sunday in September that I went (especially considering the opening of Maverick). Yet, I have read in another thread there that May is a great time to visit. Does anybody have any advice/opinions on these conflicting estimates? What kind of qeues can I expect mid-week in May? Thanks for the tips. Also, since I am somewhat new to these forums, please let me know if posting a similar question in a topic is considered not appropriate. I certainly don't want to inadvertantly "hijack" any topics. Cheers, Doug
Carnage Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I'm headed to CP the weekend before Memorial Day in May. Any experiences with crowds during the time before memorial day? I'm not expecting much. I go every year that weekend as that weekend is the May long weekend in Canada. The crowds are hard to predict. I've had busy days in the past, and I've had empty days in the past. You should probably expect a happy medium. Probably lines of 30 minutes to an hour for rides like MF and TTD. 15 to 30 minutes for the rest. Maverick I won't try to predict a line. But honestly it all comes down to the weather. If it's a nice warm May day there could be some decent days. But if it's rainy, or super cold the park will be deserted.
ghost007jas Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I don't want to make another thread for the identical question sooo... I will be going June 25-27 So thats three days in the park (all weekdays). What will the crowds like? As a bonus question I was thinking about hitting Geauga Lake for one of those days. I have never been to either park so is it worth missing a day at Cedar Point to go to Geauga Lake?
Carnage Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I will be going June 25-27 So thats three days in the park (all weekdays). What will the crowds like? Probably the more popular rides will be 1+ hour. Less popular rides 30-45 minutes. Rough estimate at least. If you're going late June I'd highly suggest you stay at a Cedar Point resort and take advantage of early entry. That way you can ride stuff like Millenium Force and Maverick before the lines get long. Dragster you'll just have to suck up and wait a couple hours for. Cross your fingers that it doesn't break down before you get on.
HogarthOK Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 I'm headed to CP the weekend before Memorial Day in May. Any experiences with crowds during the time before memorial day? I'm not expecting much. Weekend will be fairly rough due to Maverick opening, but during the week should be pretty OK. http://www.whentoride.com/graph_park.asp?state=36&park=1 May in general is pretty OK -- Even the first week of June last year was pretty open. The key is if Ohio schools are in session, I think. Also -- early afternoon in September is awesome. Everything is a walk-on. (Raptor three times in 45 mins.)
