Picked Up Useless Souvenirs From Parks?

Recommended Posts

Ever found anything in a theme park that isn't sold in the over priced shops?

Like pieces of rides and things like that.

Here is what ive found at theme parks....

The bolt on the left is from Pandemonium at Drayton Manor, it was found on the floor and is the bolt to the panels for the ride.

The bolt on the right is from Colossus at Thorpe Park, it was again found on the floor, under the final turn, which was scary to think, but it had been rusty and has seemed to been cut off.

The last one is a chunk of restraint found on the floor of a Huss Breakdance, at a funfair near me. Was an odd find.

I'm not sure I quite understand the point of picking up and saving old rusty bolts or shards of metal. Sorry, but these things kind of look like stuff you'd find in a dumpster somewhere.

I can kind of understand people wanting more recognizable parts, like a sign or a coaster wheel or a lap bar, but an old bolt or something you can buy at just about any hardware store and cover with oil and mud that you find laying on the ground doesn't seem to be much of a souvenir to me.

Well one time at PGA I got a ''weat penny'' that was dated around the 1920's (If I remember correctly) as change for buying a hot dog covered in two punds of onions and cheese.

And it was going to be my souvenir, untill I dropped it in the car on the way home!

Everytime I go on Pirates Of The Caribbean, I put two large buckets in the flume and scoop up POTC water. Then, I go home and bathe in it. It gives me that Pirates smell, which is a huge hit with the ladies IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.

During a visit to Thorpe Park, I found the operator's panel key for Colossus.

It was just laying there, all alone and discarded in it's socket, so they clearly didn't want it anymore!

I waited for the operator to leave the console for completely unrelated reasons and then climbed through the window to get them.

What a marvellous souvenir! Just laying around! What are the chances?!

Later in the day I noticed that Colossus wasn't running. I bet it was that lazy maintenance team again.....

Sounds like somebody has a little captain in 'em!

Anyways, I don't have any "pointless souviners". I don't want some "rusted bolt from so-n-so", etc. Everything I always want to keep has to have a point, other then that, why the heck do you keep it?

I found a ring from the Knoebel's carousel over by the Phoenix when I was there. Last time I checked, they weren't supposed to be removed from the carousel building, so someone probably ganked it from the carousel.

Anyways, it sits as a paperweight on my desk now.

Disney used to sell the most pointless souvenir of all--a light bulb from that parade that was "glowing away forever." Too bad the Electrical Parade was running at DCA two years later.

My Mother bought one--just looked like an old Christmas tree light to me.
