They could a train station up there plus they've got roads going up.there they could just pave theme I they have in the past

A car is different from a wheelchair. It has to be a particular gradient.

While I am keeping RMC in my mind, I do agree that Dollywood has been known to go for "firsts". They've done the first coaster type twice (Gerstlauer and B&M Wingrider) and they done a first with Firechaser, I think it's the only ride of its type to enter and exit from the same route. They've even done firsts with River Battle and Timber Tower(Yes I know, now gone). River Battle was the only splash battle ride to be submerged actually in water and not on a track, and Timber Tower was the first Topple Tower in the country. All I can say is, what's next.

I don't think it is going to be an RMC. I feel like Dollywood is usually more outside the box.

Um.....what?

Rocky Mountain is by far the most innovative coaster company out there today. I don't understand how the world's first launched woodie could be considered "inside the box". Even if it isn't a launched coaster (although with a name like "Shot Rod" it almost has to be), a terrain hugging RMC would, without a doubt, be the best coaster at Dollywood.

I'm not saying this is 100% an RMC though, a Mack launcher would be awesome. A Helix-type coaster would definitely make me want to get to Dollywood ASAP.

I'm not knocking RMC's innovativeness, I'm saying that RMC's are the hot commodity on the market in recent seasons. Maybe Dollywood would want to do something different than a traditional RMC. Unless it is a launched RMC which I don't think it is.

If it's either a RMC or a Mack Launched coaster I'd be extremely happy. I loved Outlaw Run and think Manta at SWSD is grossly underrated. I do think the name Shot Rod implies launched, so I'm not sure what other possibilities there are. Unless we see the return of Intamin with a Blitz coaster.

Nah...you got revenge of the mummys, expedition everest, th13teen and grizzly mountain to name a few.

Now, doesn't this look cool!

Well this morning I was at the park and a park employee confirmed that the work being done on the hillside and top of the mountain is in fact for the 2016 attraction...but of course we already pretty much knew that.

I really am hoping we get our own Blue Fire/ Helixish launched coaster that runs all over that back hill. The terrain could make for some awesome elements.

aw man , a terrain hugging blue fire style coaster would blow my mind !

Haven't checked this thread in awhile.. I read that Alton Towers is getting an RMC Launch for 2017 and I also read it will be the first one. Does this mean we can rule out a launched RMC for Dollywood next year?

Where did you read that?

I saw some people discussing it in comments on a youtube video and I did a google search and read it on a site. I don't know if it's entirely true but if you google it , you'll find some info on it.

I am reading all the comments and it might be fake. I'm not entirely sure and I am at work so I'm just kinda skimming through it until I get home to read it fully.

Hello everyone! I usually get to Dollywood and Holiday World when I make it to a theme park. I have been following this thread lately and decided I had to post. Is it just me or does anyone else think a wooden coaster and a car theme don't really mix? I bet it will be another steel coaster. Outlaw run worked for me because it is a stage coach and they were wooden. However, a race car and a wooden coaster just don't seem to fit in my humble opinion. I just watched the POV of Blue Fire and I can see that type of coaster fitting quite well with a car theme.

This is the thing...dollywood has solid proof that something is coming and leaning towards a launch. The chain has a history with RMC as well so there's some smoke behind that rumor. What does alton tower has other than a community who has shot down a woodie in the past?

Very true and at this point , I am just so confused. Some people are saying its gonna be this and others are saying its gonna be that. Then you have this other group of people saying its gonna be something else. I am sorta hoping it is something like Maverick/Helix but I'm just not going to make assumptions anymore until we get some sort of official announcement.

I see what you're saying...but remember the New Texas Giant's hot rod themed cars. They go pretty well with that coaster and if there is any park that could pull it off...its Dollywood! II know it's not a wooden coaster per se, but it still fits the same category being a hybrid.
