Carnage Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 I thought ToT @ Goldreef City was the World's Tallest Freefall Tower, PERIOD. Does the Sky Screamer drop all the way from the top to the bottom, or does it just bounce down? If it was true freefall, wouldn't it reach 90-100 mph? As with most things Marineland doesn't have the most acurate advertising. Sky Screamer isn't as tall as you think. It's built ontop of a giant hill, which typically is included in the specs. Kind of like how Power Tower. How when it opened they advertised it as the first 300 foot thrill ride(which includes the 60 foot arches on top). Marineland still claims Dragon Mountain as the largest coaster in the world, so take anything they say with a grain of salt.
RCoasterny Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Just because its theming never got finished doesn't mean it's not a good ride! Look at all the rides out there that have no theming whatsoever! No, that's not what I meant. I've seen POVs as well as lots of pictures, and it just looks like a boring, tame, useless ride to me. I have a thing against Arrow looping coasters, probably because I'm too tall for the restraints and it every ride on one results in pain. I'll be up at PCW/Marineland/MFI/SFDL again this summer for a quick trip, and maybe I'll be proven wrong, but for now my judgement stays that it's another Arrow piece of crap. Right now it's a piece of crap due to poor maintennance. If they would replace the guide wheels, it would be a better ride. I rode it a few years ago before Sky Screamer and it was a great ride, now it shuffles like there's no tomorrow.
niiicolaaah Posted February 14, 2006 Author Posted February 14, 2006 Aww, I'm sad to hear that. It was a really great ride last time I rode it. However, that WAS quite a long time ago, back when vertical loops DIDN'T cause me to see spots. lol.
Alexander Nagel Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 ^ The problem with Marineland as a credit whore stop is the price. It's not very cheap to get in if I remember correctly. Personally I don't consider it anywhere near "just a credit". I loved my rides on it and I didn't find it very rough at all back in 2003. In fact since i'll be passing the area in early july i'm going to stop by again just to ride Dragon Mountain a dozon or so times. With what happened with Sky Sceamer I doubt it will be open even if the park's target date is this year, but it will be fun to get on Sky Screamer since it wasn't open finished when I went.

That was the year when I rode it, and found it very smooth, with minimal headbanging in the back seat. It has gotten worse over the year, basically due to worn out guide wheels. Also be prepared to lose 10 pounds just walking up the hill to get to Sky Screamer! If it's a hot and humid day, be sure to buy 3 water bottles before starting your trek up, and don't ride it once. Do a marathon ride on Sky Screamer until you have statisfied your S&S Power Combo Tower craving before heading back down the mountain.

Personally I don't consider it anywhere near "just a credit". What I meant was that if you're only going to the park to ride DM and leave it's a bit too expensive. Now it makes it more worthwhil if you see some of the other stuff that park has to experience. Like the bears in the pit that dance for marshmellows, or the field of deer that swarm you for the food. I can remember watching my sister try and hold the two cups of food above her head. The deer just kept nudging her in the ribs until she finally freaked out, threw the food, and ran.
Canadmos Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Finally, a new ride. I wonder where they are going to put this one, hopefully not at the back of the park where you would need a day and a half to hike to it. Now if they would only get a terrained woodie....
dandaman Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 And actually it's a no. The park is quite close to the falls. I was there last year and standing by the falls you can easilly see Sky Screamer behind you. Hence why I said "in my opinion". Though I do have quite a photographic memory, I could have sworn it was a lot farther away from the Falls (maybe I was expecting it closer, I guess). Not to mention there's a lot more important stuff to remember than that, over the course of about 7 years.
ECZenith Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 This is great news! Anytime I'm in NF I always stop by Marineland. Yeah, the price is a little steep but they have a rare Huss Magic, and I personally love Dragon Mountain. Any idea where they're building this thing?
SharkTums Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 I would hope they build it in one of the giant areas of NOTHING!
niiicolaaah Posted February 14, 2006 Author Posted February 14, 2006 The whole park is pretty much a giant area of nothing, so anywhere would be fine. Seriously, why does the park love Huss so much???
pcw guy Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 i was at marineland yesterday and construction for the topple tower hasn't even started yet. and they are finished the volcano structure for dragon mountian (it is the most pointless thing on the ride) and they have started building a new structure on the ride oh yeah sorry to dissipoint you guys but they are building topple tower at the back of the park (right across from dm)
Carnage Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 ^ If by "new structure" you mean that steel girder section after the volcano, that's not new. That's the replica niagara falls they were going to build. It's like 23 years old.
niiicolaaah Posted August 24, 2006 Author Posted August 24, 2006 ^^What do you mean construction for the topple tower hasn't started yet??? Then what is this picture I took a few weekends ago? And that scaffolding has always been there. Picture taken August 5
TheStig Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 Thats nothing, I dont know what your talking about, I dont see anything there, AND NEITHER DO YOU!!! So its seriously just going to go up the spike, and then back down? Thats LAME! Colin C
ECZenith Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 Did you really expect it to drop? The existing topple towers do the same thing. Marineland has one of the best drop rides already-about a 5 days trek from the topple tower.
niiicolaaah Posted August 28, 2006 Author Posted August 28, 2006 It's official - the ride is delayed until 2007. Who didn't see this one coming? http://www.screamscape.com/html/marineland.htm The park has confirmed that the new Topple Tower has been delayed and will not open until the start of the 2007 season. In fact they apparently have not even received the ride itself yet and are not expecting it until October.
mightypotato Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 ^ Surprised? Nope. Definitely not. Marineland's new attraction, a topple tower! New for 2010!
Canobie Fan Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 It's like 23 years old. And it will take 23 years to finish.
pcw guy Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 yah but you gotta remember that this place is about the animals. think of how expensive it might be to own and care for all of them. Marineland will finish their rides when they have the money, even if it does take 23 years
ECZenith Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Geez I had no idea they were going to even attempt to get it going for late 2006 season. At least it will be good to go during opening next year.
Carnage Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 ^^ Marineland is all about the animals. Too bad they keep killing them.
Shockwave Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Let me find my shocked face! I wonder if they'll finish Dragon Mountain's waterfall before this gets built...
Primogen18 Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 I heard that Marineland expects to complete the Niagra Falls theming on its ride after the actual falls have eroded out of Niagra...
