Hattuchili Posted February 18, 2006 Author Posted February 18, 2006 Gold again for Kati Wilhelm! Biathlon: Wilhem Is the Queen of the 10km Feb 18 2006 This event was a ransomed one for those who wanted to prove themselves the strongest. Kati Wilhelm really did not want to continue making a bad impression. So in the 10km pursuit she made her presence felt and this allowed her to win the Olympic title. In the World Cup she had managed to do so but until now in the Olympic Winter Games she had not. A star’s event from beginning to end. At the first shooting range she caught up with and then overtook the French Olympic Sprint champion Baverel-Robert and Swedish Anne Carin Olofsson... More: Torino 2006 --Sören
Shockwave Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 BOARDERCROSS THE BEST EVENT EVER! Definetly. I couldn't help but laugh when the female US snowboarder fell within sight of the line. If you showboat before you acutally win then you're asking for trouble.
viking86 Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Yeah that was hilarious! Anyway, did anyone see the freestyle jumper who lost his skis on the jump? Damn that was awesome! His skis went straight into the air while he did somersaults and other tricks. Luckily for him the snow is rather soft in the landing area on these events.

Definetly one of the comedy moments of these games. Good thing he's ok too, at the height they go you could easily break a few bones on a crash landing.
dandaman Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Looks like we're tied with the U.S. in the medal count, as of recent.
Hattuchili Posted February 26, 2006 Author Posted February 26, 2006 Olympic Winter Games Torino 2006 Olympic Rings Torino 2006 The slogan of the Winter Games in Torino was: Slogan The Olympic Games are over! Today is Sunday the 26th March, and the Olympic Winter Games are over! In each competition they have a winner and all the games are played! I watched the games in the last 2 weeks as often as possible! Sometimes at work with my boss on the computer and sometimes at home! It was great to see what the athlets have done and how they have won the competitions! The Medals I am happy that I can say a great nation has won the most gold medals! Yes, it is Germany! This year, Germany had a fantastic run at the Olympic Games! I enjoyed each competition where they have won a medal! I remember the time I´ve sat at work and watched the Biathlon games! dragoncoaster1292 Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 I'm so sad!!! I don't want it to be over!!!!!!
dandaman Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Minus the men's hockey team, I'm especially proud of Canada. Highest medal count in Olympic competition ever, they say. ...So, technically, we win bronze for the medal count. Quite excited for the Closing Ceremonies. More or less geared towards Canada, for promotion of the 2010 games. (Nrthwnd is gonna have a helluva time!)
coasterzak Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Yay team USA - 2nd is respectable. I really enjoyed watching the Olympics. I'm sad that they are over. The summer olympics will come soon enough.
Jonathan Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Good job Sweden. Their men's hockey team beat Finland 3-2 a few hours ago to win the gold medal.
coasterguy618 Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 These Olympic Games were great. I watched almost every event. I watched when Lindsay Jacobellis(US Snowboarder) fell in sight of finsh. That was a bummer. I am sad they are over.
DerekRx Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Woohoo! With these games now over, it means I can finally get back to watching Las Vegas and My Name Is Earl! At least the Summer Olympics in 2 years won't interfer with good primetime entertainment for 2 weeks!
Nrthwnd Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 I didn't watch the Games as much as I thought i was going to - but i was so happy and proud of Canada's medal count; the largest so far, from any winter Olympics for Canada, beating Salt Lake count, by seven medals. Closing ceremonies looked great - back here at home, we were all hoping nothing would 'go wrong' with the flag handover to Mayor Sullivan, and his specially-designed 'flag carrier', heh heh. That was great to see.... And honestly? I thought one of the most ironic things about this year, was the proverbial kick in the nuts to the the Cdn. Hockey team. This group had been PRed to the hilt here in Canada. And even tho (mainly) the women were landing medals left right and center, The News of The Day was always The Men's Hockey Team... I think our media here is as much to blame, as the team is, for thinking an all-NHL team will win it every Olypmics. 'Nuff said on this tragedy. Maybe they'll really go back to the true spirit of 'amateur sport', hmm? ~ ~ ~ ~ And now - Back to EARRRRRRRRL! (EDIT: And yes, CONGRATS to SWEDEN on the Gold in Men's Hockey! )
Joe Cool Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Haha I'm watching the closing ceremony and the Olympic Offical is giving his speech and some random dude comes up on stage yelling in the microphone and then rips it off haha funniest thing ever!!!!
the sound Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 The AUstralian telecast is at like 10:00 pm! So i am going to tape the ice-kockey.
Nrthwnd Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Haha I'm watching the closing ceremony and the Olympic Offical is giving his speech and some random dude comes up on stage yelling in the microphone and then rips it off haha funniest thing ever!!!! Yeah, that was pretty fast, how all that happened there. There he was, yelling in Italian I am assuming - then poof! Whisked away, and after that IOC guy had 'perfectly paused' for the whole thing to happen... Just continued on with his speech! Very bizarre.
Hattuchili Posted February 27, 2006 Author Posted February 27, 2006 ^ Yes, that was very bizarre. However, I liked the whole closing ceremony! The part for the Olympic Winter Games in Canada 2010 was really good! I am looking forward to the next winter games! I am a bit jealous Bill, because you are having the next games in your country! --Sören
the_rock401 Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 I watched the Closing Ceremonies last night, and I absolutely loved it. I liked the handover part, and the mayor of Vancourver "waving" the Olympic flag around by doing donuts with his wheelchair. Paul "Wants to go to Beijing in 2008" Miller
coasters 4 me Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 I loved watching the Olympics. Although, I hate watching Curling. I find it really boring. My favourite has to be the Skeleton Bobsledge. I really didnt want the Olympics to end. If there was nothing on TV, I turned to the Olympics. I never get bored while watching it (Apart from Curling).
Tömmioh Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 The closing ceremonies were really nice. I'm not that pleased with Finland's medal count: 0 Gold 6 Silver 3 Bronze They had many near chances to get gold, but just didn't succeed. I'm not that bothered that Sweden beat Finland in the ice-hockey final, as I am born in Sweden, have lived there for some years, have many relatives there, go to swedish speaking school, but for the rest of the Finland, it was a big dissapointment. Another thing I think is a bit weird is the medal count table. ie. Estonia got 3 gold, nothing else, whereas Norway got 2 gold 8 silver and 9 bronze and they are behind Estonia. So, if anyone knows can they please tell me how that count really works? I really enjoyed watching the Winter Olympics, have never watched as much, it was fun. Those freestyle jumps (where they twist invert many times in the air) looked really cool aswell as some 'bobsledding'.
Joe Cool Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 I think the best part of the closing ceremony was the fireworks they were just awesome all along the top of stadium.
the_rock401 Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 One of my favorite things about the Olympics is when the home country wins a gold medal, and the very partisan crowd sings the national anthem louder than the recorded music. I know when Australians won golds in Sydney, the crowd sang "Advance Australia Fair" louder than the recording. Same with Italy this year and the Greeks in Athens. I don't remember if American crowds did the same in Salt Lake, though.
Nrthwnd Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 I am looking forward to the next winter games! I am a bit jealous Bill, because you are having the next games in your country! Thanks Soren. But it's very unlikely that we'll even get a ticket to any of the events, based on "past experiences seen" - meaning, opening and closing ceremonies tix will be (as usual) expensive and of course, the good seats will be Uber Expensive and probably gone before we even think about going. Then, one has to sort-of figure out where the hot events would be, hmm? Sports Premonitions I am not very good at, lol. Neither me nor David ski, snowboard, skate, or most anything to do with winter sports, except watching them, heh heh. So taking in anything up at Whistler will be unlikely for us. We'll be watching the TV, like most all of you will be. And the way the city will go about doing it's (ahem) 'clean up' etc... Hmmm. For two weeks' worth of ultra-expensive events that hardly any locals will go to, unelss they have a (let's see here) HIGH 5-figure salary, (or more?) I really don't know if this is worth it or not. Honestly? I would rather we held another Worlds Fair, lol. At least then, the whole world can still be involved, and we can all get to participate, with the (usual) six-month stay for it. And there probably would be another brand-new c-o-a-s-t-e-r involved onsite, too, hmm? One of the Good Things out of this tho, we'll finally get our rapid transit extended to the Airport in time for the Games! Which will help for (ahem) "Future TPR World Touring" heh heh.

ITs the FUNniest thing in The WORLD!!! They all yell "HARD"! I guess its not funny to people it play it or watch it on aregular basis.
