May and Halloweekends I believe would be the best time.

Avoid July and August. Weekdays in early June are also okay. No matter what, if you get there before opening you'll have a good chance at getting a lot done.

I would definately suggest going on a May weekday if possible, but it looks like school could get in the way of that. May weekdays are easily the least busy of the year. Other than that, as Elissa said, you might try Halloweekends or a Sunday or weekday in the summer. The crowds don't really change much during the summer with the exception of Fridays and Saturdays being really busy.

weekends in May aren't as empty as those pictures show, although very reasonable. I bet those photos were taken on weekdays

I've also been on Labor Day weekend which was reasonable also

and if you plan for May try to avoid days on the CP calendar that are marked High School Science Days

I've found the weekends after labour day but before Halloweekends are a great time to go. Weather is cool, but not too cold, and the crowds are low.

Be careful with Halloweekends. Friday's and Sundays during Halloweekends will be empty. However the saturday's when they have the haunted houses, etc will quite often fill the park to capacity. (when the weather is nice at least). I have been to the park a few times on these saturday's where every queue line is filled. It gets really, really bad.

Are you going to Cedar Point again this year?

I'd like to go back 'cause I really want to love the place and still have tons to do (5 credits, tons of flats)

I went on the second weekend after Opening Day (May 14-15) last season. It was surprisingly uncrowded (but not as much of a ghost town as posted above), and a really good time (the temps and weather agreed, thankfully).

^Cool, Im hoping to go on a weekday, mabye Friday the 26th. Why is that the only friday with longer hours? Is there a huge group coming or something?

That friday starts cedar points longer hours. If you notice June has 10 AM-10 PM all month, except saturdays, which are 10 AM -11 PM.

Well, words from a 23 time CPer.

Go during the weekdays, in May and September, and for go during the closing weekends October is suggested.

I wasn't planning on going back this year, I was planning on getting a Dorney pass. I think I'll be making the trip every other year with my niece, sister and brother-in-law meaning 2007.

If I do end up with a Dorney pass I might stop at CP on the way back from my Beech Bend/Holiday World trip around Labor Day.

I was there the same weekend Saturday afternoon through Tuesday afternoon. The TTD line was that empty but only because TTD was closed most of the time. However MF was never less than a 75-90 minute wait.

Jman, are you staying at one of the Cedar Point resorts? If so, you get into the park half an hour before general public, and generally two of the major coasters will be open for you. I would use that to get on one of the rides that you know will have a line (ie. Millenium Force, Dragster if its up and running in May...) Don't forget the new ride this year, Skyhawk (a Screamin' Swing). Hope you have fun!

No, I dont plan on staying at a CP resort-Ill prob just stay at a cheap hotel/motel nearby.I dont know what the squedule is- I live in NJ 8 hours away, so If I dont know if i will be able to get there when it opens. Either that, or Ill drive to sandusky, get a hotel, spend the night, spend a whole day at the park, spend one more night at the hotel and then leave next morning. I think Im going in May, prob on a weekday.

This year I went in May, June and September. May [weekdays] was pretty much empty, like others have mentioned. In June [weekdays] there were A LOT of schools visiting. It wasn't too crowded, but be prepared for a lot of school trips. I also went on a weekend in September [i believe it was the 9th-11th], and it was also wasn't very crowded at all. The longest we waited was about an hour for Dragster [when it was actually open] and we waited less than an hour. Besides Dragster and Millenium Force, most rides were walk-ons.
