Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

. I personally dont want Tidal Wave to leave, and it is not necessary to remove it for the expansion either. Those who have visited the park will know what I'm talking about. Ample room over there! Removels are not necessary. Check google maps (or mapquest) and you will see exacty what I mean. For those of you not familiar with the layout of SFStL, Tidal Wave is at the Northeast corner of the park.

Operating costs.

I just hope with Tidal Wave coming down, that we don't end up with something like the Perilous Plunge transformation at Knotts. Especially considering Ragin Cajun is going to be moving. I know it's unlikely, but I guess I'd be happier with that than Boomerang. I'm sure it won't happen, since none of it coincides with the demolition of Hannibarrels.

^ Oh I know! There are a lot of possibilities! I know we are getting an Aqua Twist for 2014 but a River Battle would be cool up past Tidal Wave too!

I'm pretty sure Aqua Twists and Splash Battles are almost the same thing.

But yet, so different

I'm surprised that both sides aren't open more often, considering how hot it gets in the St. Louis region during the middle of the summer. I've only visited during the spring and Fright Fest. I just thought the other side was closed, because they simply didn't need it.

Think about this Summer in the Midwest versus just last year. Temps in the hundreds well into August last year, record LOWS in July and August this year. In my opinion, this is the closest we've had to say, Estes Park, CO weather, since 1994.

We've yet to experience a wait longer than 5 minutes on any of our visits this year, and I'm including visits where you actually had to wait in line for Ninja.

Aqua Twists are different from Splash Battles. An Aqua Twist is the poor man's Splash Battle. Think 350z vs Porsche... (joking... kinda)

Lol I know exactly what both of them are, I'm just saying there is a difference.Yes, very similar, but still different. And I think there is enough of a difference that you could have one of each in one park. I've not actually been on either type, but I'm sure I'd prefer a Splash Battle because spinning makes me sick. None the less, I'm thrilled SFStL is getting an Aqua Twist! I think they look really nice (especially the one themed to Bakini Bottom, but I dont remember where it is. I believe over seas), and I'm glad they finally found an option to replace the long defunct Hannibarrels. This ride will bring back some much needed life to that area of the park. Oh, I would also like to see those fake buildings across from Hannibarrels next to the RR track that are used for "themeing" to be removed. They look horrible! I mean, significantly horrible! By far the ugliest part of the park.

I think guests in the park would notice a similarity. If Six Flags were to put in an Aqua Twist in 2014 then a big ride in 2015, followed by a Splash Battle in 2016, even the GP would be able to see that they are both slow moving water rides where you battle people on and off the ride. Personally, I'd rather see a splash battle themed to the desert in Hannibarrels spot and have Tidal Wave stay.

Too bad SDC has a Huck and Tom themed river battle as that would have been a great theme at SFStL.

I really enjoyed Buccaneer Battle at SFGAm despite my arms tiring out from shooting water at people however I get the impression it's not a popular ride there.

I hate to sound odd, But Six Flags St. Louis needs a Junior Coaster. A Roller Skater/ Miler Junior Coaster even a Mack Young Star would work.

^ Oh ok. Believe it or not I have never ridden Rush Street Flyer. I'm not real big on flat rides, but I think the next time I go I will actually give it a try. Its been rumored that it may not have too many seasons left either so I better get it while I can.

The Rush Street Flyer was just painted at a pretty high cost. Unless something big and unexpected happens, it'll be in the park for a while. Also, with the Ninja, if it was in any other domestic SF park, it would've been removed and replaced by now obviously. That being said, because we just declared ourselves the coaster capital of Missouri, the Ninja will stay until we have the cash to replace it.

With the kiddie coaster, one prime area is where the go karts are now. That's where I'd have to bet it would go. I know they are playing around trying to find a place for it. Finally, with the park expansion, I wouldn't expect to see the park explode now, but the park will be slowly expanding in the coming years.

^ I dont remember who posted it, but several pages back someone said they talked to Dave Roemer and he said that we will be getting a kiddie coaster soon. BTW I apologive if I spelled Dave's last name wrong.

Mini trip-report from Sunday:

We got to the park around noon. Parking was only up to around the 8 signs. We headed for Hurricane Harbor, and Hurricane Bay went down for some reason. So we headed to Tornado then ate lunch and then went back again. Both rides were walk-ons. Wahoo Racer and Big Kahuna were both walk-ons as well. So were the tube slides (we did all four). Then we rode the lazy river twice in a row without getting off. We then finished our water park trip with about an hour and a half in the wave pool.

We walked on Ninja and then walked-on Batman and rode six times without getting off.

I really wish we could have stayed longer, since it was the least crowded day I've ever had at the park, but it was fun nonetheless.

If they add the kiddie coaster where the go carts are, I hope they redo The Boss's queue. That has to be one of the most ridiculous queues I've ever seen, along with Batman's.

Agreed, also unsafe on the bridge over the track, that thing shakes with a lot of people on it

They aren't going to remove the Go Karts. This is Six Flags, Not Cedar Fair.

I dont know how popular the Go Karts are, particularly with them being an upcharge, but everytime I've been there they are rarely busy. The last time I was there, which was late May, the Go Karts and Dragon Wing (sky coaster) were not even open that day.

Same from my observation, the whole area needs something new, get rid or move the up charge attractions and expand over on that side like everybody is saying

Just leave the enterprise flat alone
