Iron Wolf 90-11
Has anyone made the trip to Great America to ride Goliath yet? Debating whether to make the 6 hr drive so my daughter and I could ride it. Now that my daughter loves roller coasters I really wanna do this. I would go for it. If Goliath doesn't make it worth it, something else at the park definety will. Great America is my home park and it would be worth it to drive six hours just to go to the park. Not sure how many coasters you've been on, but Raging Bull, V2, Superman, Goliath, X-Flight and Viper are roller coasters that you just don't have anything similar to at St Louis. Also make sure to check out American Eagle.

HARLEYGUYJB
I've been there the last 2 years usually we spend about 3-4 days up there..but this year only have time to stay 1 full day...we just wanna ride Goliath!
SteveStL
In the distant near future the high speed rail will be available from STL to Chicago.... which will be rather cool imo. http://www.idothsr.org/

Woodie Warrior
I'd say if you haven't ridden Outlaw Run, head down to Silver Dollar City. It's a far better ride than Goliath and Silver Dollar City is a beautiful park with lots of other great rides (and FOOD!) However, if you're asking because you'll be up in the Chicago area for another event and have time to stop by the park, then it'd be worth the visit. liked Goliath but I wouldn't wait more than an hour and a half for it. RollerKid500
I'm halfway serious when I say if a bunch of us got together for chicken wings and beer we probably wouldn't bicker as much. We do it all the time on the Subaru boards and it's always fun talking to people with common interests. I've never been able to extensively talk coaster geek with anyone in person. My wife and friends get annoyed when I speak in coaster geek and they just don't get it. If anyone is interested in the first annual STL coaster geek meet, let me know. I'm not as big of an a$$hole as I seem online... I'd even be willing to go back to SFSTL if it meant actually going with people who share coaster enthusiasm. Just putting it out there. I'm interested in going. SFSTL was my home park, and I'll do my best to get back out there. Would it be during the Daredevil Daze event?

Sf-Dad
I am game for a meet up as well, but I am a Cubmaster and Troop Assistant Scoutmaster so free fall weekends are rare so I can't commit. Daredevil Daze does sounds like a blast. If we did it outside of Daredevil Daze It would be so fun have t shirts made with "$ix Flags Over Priced" or some other stick to the man theme. Anybody got a portable generator and an electric griddle so we could have a tailgate party and bypass the no open flame rule? We can even send Dave an invitation. prozach626
Good to know we have quite a few people in for a STL meet. I won't be able to make Daredevil Daze, but I planned on just having everyone meet at the most centralized wings/beer spot. I had Hooters or Showme's in mind, if everyone else would be OK with that. Any wings or sports bar suggestions are welcome.
Woodie Warrior
Due to its age, Scooby Doo needs a LOT of maintenance. So what does the park do? They decided to build a new dark ride that's even cooler than Scooby was originally. Instead of using the off-the-shelf Sally Dark Rides cars like Holiday World, the park is getting really cool looking cars. This ride is going to be awesome. The Scooby facade is completely coming down and loading station being covered. There are also a few great maintenance projects coming for 2015. Complaining about the way Batman plaza looks, especially now that Turbo Bungy is gone? Don't worry, the park is adding/replacing that area (no rides). Don't be all dramatic saying you're giving up hope on the park. Yea, it's not the greatest park, but it is actively getting better faster than it is declining. The park has an amazing B&M and Premier coaster. I see thousands of people every day who are having the time of their lives. You're definitely welcome to your opinion, and I definitely see where they are coming from. However, I think it might be good to be a little bit more optimistic. Can you confirm if it will be a clone of the Justice League ride at the Warner Bros park in Australia? In U.S. dollars, that ride cost $8.5 million, not adjusted for inflation, so maybe corporate really isn't neglecting us as much as some people like to think. Don't expect that much. I wonder how much the ride would be with no pre-show and a downsized facade/queue theming. At the same time, I LOVED LOVED Scooby, but I am really excited for this. I also found out today that a DC licensed Batman costume costs $10,000. It might be possible that a lot of that money went to R&D, the design of the ride vehicles, and the production of the ride animation, since it's a first of its kind ride for Sally. CrazyScarecrow
Hiya! I'm new to forums around here. You might know from such sites as SDCFans or Comic Vine. Anyway hiya! On the topic of Scooby Doo I'm sad to see it go. I mean this time around its not going to be a retheme, but they are actually taking out water aspect of the whole thing. Though if the boats are having problems I do suppose its time for it go. Also it honestly doesn't surprise me. Scooby Doo's animatronic's (if you could even call them that) barely work. There is times I have been on the ride and scenes were just dark, Shaggy and the Wolfman not working, or the Mystery Machine is taken out. I would love to see a new Justice League ride go in the place being a huge DC Comics fan and due to the fact that the DC Plaza needs more DC. I just really hope its nothing like that JL ride in Australia. The animatronics look great though I don't like the idea of most of the Justice League appearing as video game animations. I really want it to fully animatronics in the ride. Not half animatronics and half video game. Also since this Justice League ride could be replacing Scooby Doo why did Six Flags change Metropolis themed bathrooms and DC Villains Cafe (even if it was based on the worst superhero movie ever) this season. I have a theme idea too for Boomerang. Keeping in the theme of DC characters throughout parts of the park I always thought it would be cool to see Boomerang as a Flash themed ride. They could paint it red and yellow. If they want to keep "Boomerang" in the title then they could rename Captain Boomerang after one of the Flash's villains and give it a blue, black, and white paint scheme. Sure, the Boomerang will always be that stupid ride that got dumped over to SFStL and took away the bat infested bumper cars though at least the ride would have a good theme! One last thing I wanted to mention is whatever happened to those Looney Tune themed height boards that use to be in front of most every ride? I remember seeing them everywhere when I was a kid. I always wondered when they got rid of them and if they even have them anymore.
HWFan
In would be nice if they could build a new restaurant in that area.. Maybe a return of the Villains Cafe? The sign is currently in storage behind the Boss and is visible from the train. I highly doubt it though. I'm guessing if it's a restaurant it'll be a restaurant for vegetarians since that seems to be the new trend in the chain. I was mainly happy that Villain's Cafe was changed because on two of the giant signs on the side of the building read "Villian's Cafe". Which signs? The signs aren't in that picture. They were only up for 2013 and made in house by the sign shop.

I would have had the same opinion with the half video, half animatronics ride earlier this year, but after riding all of the great rides at Universal Orlando this March, I honestly think that it could turn out great with 3D glasses. Also, with the theme, it all has to do with money. The park is going to take anything they can get to renovate things, even if it means inconsistent themes. I look forward to future renovations, including next years until the entire park looks like a Palace! In terms of the Loony Tunes height boards, my guess would be that they got old and needed to be replaced. Apparently any character's likeness used in the park has to be approved by Warner Bros making it harder to do things like the Loony Tunes height boards. HARLEYGUYJB
On a different note.. I wish the park had some live webcams you watch while you're supposed to be "working".. Cedar Point has 2 online.

I get that the park will do anything to save money though its a still a pretty stupid to take out the DC themed stuff when there are plans to add a big DC ride to the area. I'm looking forward to more renovations though too. Thanks for the info on the height boards. I've been wondering why they got taken down forever. Like I said I thought they were so cool going to park as kid.
parkjunkie
Well from the sound of things, sounds like the ride is gonna be 3D, something along the lines like Dark Castle at Busch Gardens. As long asits done correctly with the right theming, this could be somewhat of a hit.

parkjunkie
I believe the only change to the structure itself will be the trough being filled. And from what Ive researched, this should be a quite larger ride than most like this
HARLEYGUYJB
I'm at the park right now. The Mr.Freeze is down. It stopped at the bottom of the drop. How do they get the train to start moving again? Mr Freeze has been closed all day.

ArizonaGuy
When I was at the park back in 08-09 Mr Freeze vallied between the top hat and the fan curve. They brought in a crane and removed it car by car and placed on the otherside. They had it up and running by the afternoon.
