RollerManic Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 ^And you would trade RKMT for this? An origaml still good for the families? It's bad enough that we lost one side for the god forsaken Ninja. Unless you can miraculously place the ride over... (it would have to be a perfect fit for this to happen). Btw, the RKMT has a higher elevation immediately by the Ninja. And as you head towards the train it only raises (gently this time, but nit evenly). And your orientation puts a significant part of the ride on that land (everything but the first two inversions, the transfer, and the station. So that would mean those parts of the ride would have to have ~up to 10 ft high footers to place the ride correctly. IMHO I couldn't see SFSLT grading out that much land + trees to make a plane WHEN Credit This area is already flat (to be fair it slopes downhill a bit south but not majorly). It would only require moving the train tracks and cutting back on the storage there. A trench and retaining wall could be built for the cobra roll as it sits highest. Source. (go to bird's eye and look East and North
JonnyRCT3 Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 (edited) ^Yes, that could work to. However It would be hard to see any part of the ride minus the lift from that angle. :/ The original configuration doesn't pose much of a problem, as far as elevation differences go, since that section of the ride already sits up pretty high. The bottom of the first drop might need a trench, but the rest can sit on higher footers like Dominator where needed. Edited July 25, 2015 by JonnyRCT3

Notice that it continues rising after the specific spot I pointed out. Look directly under the second lift - it is the highest point on the ride (this would be were the interlocking corkscrews are; though granted that element is pretty high). My estimation is that it is another 40-50 feet more elevation that the Ninja. Don't see it? Looking East on bird's eye, look at the RKMT's tunnel entrance. Now look right across the service road to the helix and follow the drop up to the second hill. Note how the drop supports remain constant, yet obviously it drops. I wish we had topography maps though so this wouldnt be guesswork.
Foltzy Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Hey everyone, I'll be heading there tomorrow and was wondering what rides should be ridden first. I'm assuming mr freeze but if it's something different please say so, also what should we go on right after. We are not purchasing a flash pass
HARLEYGUYJB Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Mr. Freeze is a must ride. If you get to the park right when it opens, I would go to JLBFM first. That line gets backed up very quickly and it will be like that all day.
HARLEYGUYJB Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Wow!! That looks great!! I'll have to check it out on Thursday!
HWFan Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 After only a couple days, the roof/canopy of the next-to-be-renovated car is already fully gray with primer. With the speed that they're chugging along at, I wouldn't be surprised if it's all finished by Fright Fest. I know that recently downtime may look like the park is regressing or is cutting back. However, I can sincerely say that the park management cares so much about the park and making it look it's best. As pretentious as this sounds, there is a lot of information & happenings behind the scenes that I can't talk about. However, as I've been lucky enough to learn it, itreally paint a great picture in terms of the park's future. I keep kicking myself (not literally) for all of my posts regarding the expected reliability for JLBM before it was open. I base anything I post on what information is available at the time. If you plan on visiting the park this week, please check the planned ride closures, which are usually posted on the park's Twitter account. I really hope TNT, our fantastic unofficial rides liaison, can help us keep on top of that information, especially when I can't. Also, heard that the Sharknado dive in movie was a hit! I can't wait to see the park being used as a venue to host more and more events. We'll see if more couples take a chance and get married there next season. The marketing director loved it, and he's a pretty zany guy sometimes. Remember that old JLBM photo op that was made up of a bench with a facade in front that looks like the front of a ride vehicle? He now has it set up in front of his desk. With next year...I enjoy the musings of hyperactive imaginations. Next year is gonna be awesome, even if we didn't get any ride at all. The park director's passion for their work extends to the little things that make the experience better. It's not a secret that Dave Roemer will be retiring sometime in the coming years after starting at the park in 1972. He steered the park through the darkest times the company has gone through (bankruptcy), so now that the company is stronger than ever, don't you think he will do absolutely anything to improve the park? I see it as his legacy. Can you imagine working 60hour / 7 day weeks all the way up to retirement in your 60's?
ALT2870 Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 I'm assuming for the train cars they are leaving the Mid-America lettering on them and just not painting it?
ChrisGraslie Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 I truly am excited for the coming years honestly. I congratulate Dave and everyone that puts so much time and dedication into what they do for SFSTL. Not many companies go through the hardships of filing for bankruptcy and come out kicking, so I totally have upmost respect for the guys and girls that keep everything in check and really love what they do. They really do care about what they do and I think you can feel that radiating off the streets of the park. Even though everyone's been dissapointed by things in the past *COUGHBoomerangCOUGH* you've still gotta have that respect for the place. They've gone through financial hell and survived as a park, as a entire company, to tell the tale. As cheesy and stupid as it sounds, I've developed a bond with this place that I've never felt before with any other park really. Sure, I'm only 14 years old, and as a teen haven't had as much experience as most (way older) users on this forum, but I've gone through a lot of personal trauma in my life in the past, which is probably why I joined as well, because I knew where my passions were at. Not just SFSTL, but theme parks in general. I'm sure I've got a bright future ahead of me, and the same could be said about the park Hats off to Dave, Elizabeth, HWFan, TNT, and others I probably haven't mentioned, for being a part of everything I know this was all kinda ridiculous, and I'm sure I made some errors or something, but all I wanna say is thank you. Thanks everyone for giving me a place where I can conspire and feel like I'm part of a community of people who share the same interests as I do.
ChrisGraslie Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 I'm assuming for the train cars they are leaving the Mid-America lettering on them and just not painting it? Correct That's interesting actually, I thought they'd keep it for old times sake at least
ALT2870 Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 It's there, just a thick coat of paint. Definitely less promenent, shame they didn't paint it.
HARLEYGUYJB Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 I prefer the name over Mid-America better anyway!
ChrisGraslie Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 So apparently Six Flags has trademarked multiple different trademarks this week, including 'Titan' (again apparently), 'Gale Force 7' and 'Total Mayhem' according to Screamscape

Why would they rename Roar "Gale Force 7"?
HARLEYGUYJB Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 (edited) It seems like a few of the RMC coasters have a weather theme. EX: Cyclone became Twisted Cyclone and the new RMC coaster going up in Kentucky Kingdom is called Storm Chaser. That's just my guess Edited July 27, 2015 by HARLEYGUYJB
RollerManic Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 What exactly does "Gale Force 7" mean? "On the Beaufort Wind Scale, a gale is classified as: 7: Moderate Gale (32–38 miles per hour), 8: Fresh Gale (39-46 mph), 9: Strong Gale (47-54 mph) and 10: Storm/Whole Gale (55-63 mph" Wikipedia (don't hate) Sounds more like kiddie ride
ChrisGraslie Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 I believe Gale Force 7 would most likely be a group of slides or something inside a Hurricane Harbor at one of the parks
RollerManic Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Sounds probable considering the "seven". If so, I hope it'll be here!
