When I was at Knotts last weekend, they whole restaurant that sits adjacent to the Kingdom of Dinosaurs ride was torn out, with construction walls around it.

Dont know if it that was out there, and so I have to sit here and make myself feel like an asshole, before someone else trys to make me feel like an asshole. ....you know how it goes.

Anyway...howabout they just extend Xcelerator a bit?

Oh....wait....the one thing Knotts needs to do to improve their park:

Take away the microphone that they gave the Silver Bullet crew!!! ...either that or shoot the crew. They are so God damn annoying!

^California Adventure is a fun park where you can actually ride EVERYTHING without waiting too long.

Of course you can ride everything! The park isn't very big.

If knotts was to build another big ride I'd expect it to go to the right of ghostrider. Of course they would have to tear out the dumpsters and whatever the hell they put back there too! I can honestly see them ripping out a major chunk of Ghost town for it too. So its without a doubt do-able.

Also, I think that construction is for the New Johnny Rockets coming in!

I've left Knott's through the Western Ave. gate a number of times, Haunt or not. Solace is another time you can use it.

Honestly, I like the totem pole-themed Topple Tower. That would make a nice addition to Wild Water Wilderness. It wouldn't take up much space, either.

Another coaster at Knott's? Eh, they have plenty for their size. I suppose they could build a parking structure in the lot across Beach Blvd., which would free up the Supreme Scream lot (south of the park) for expansion. But like Joey said, the park still has to deal with the local residents.

^ I've heard that, too, but I don't think that means that Cedar Fair can't tinker with it enough to suck out all of its charm, though. Personally, I think it will stay in some form. I think even Cedar Fair knows that Ghost Town is a winning themed area.

That lot you speak of is surrounded by businesses. I don't see why they couldn't use it.

^^As far as I'm concerned, Knott's charm is long gone. And we can't place all the blame on CF. The ripping out of Knott's history began with the family. I used to love the lake area joining Ghost Town and Fiesta Village. You had an unobstructed view of Monty and those awesome peek-ins of the missions. That area lost most of it's quaintness with the addition of Jaguar, and plopping down Silver Bullet over that area more than certified it's death. And don't get me started on the removal of the Soap Box Racers, Gasoline Alley, Beary Tales, and the rethemeing of the Roaring 20's area. All CF is doing is following suit with what the family began years before.

^^Parking garages are expensive. That's reason enough to deter Cedar Fair.

Expanding into any of the lots on south side of the park would be a huge undertaking. There might not be a public street there, but there is all of the backstage infastructure, the hotel, a nice chunk of parking spaces that would need (ever seen Knott's on a sold out Haunt night? ) to be replaced, plus houses directly to the west and south.

Could it be done? Yeah. Will it? I think its highly unlikely.

PS: As far as I know, only certain parts of Ghost Town are contractually protected. I have no idea which parts those are, but my understanding is that there *IS* areas of Ghost Town that Cedar Fair could bulldoze if they chose to do so.

EDIT: to respond to ^, I would have to disagree. I didn't even know what the heck Gasoline Alley, Bear-y Tales, or that the Roaring 20's had been rethemed until I got more into theme parks and coasters. Maybe there was more charm before I was alive, but growing up visiting the park starting in 1990 (that's as far back as I can clearly remember at least)...there was plenty of charm. The only thing I can really fault the Knott's family for is Windjammer. I much preferred Soap Box Racers (and this was from a "GP" point of view...pre enthusiast days).

^What I loved the most about the back side of the park is that there was so much to do without feeling overcrowded. Everything somehow fit into place and flowed together. I didn't know what the Roaring 20's was all about as a kid, but I loved the fact that there was so much do to back there. It wasn't until I got to high school that I began to appreciate the theme. So it appealed to the younger guest because of the quantity and to the older guest because of the quality. Everything was somehow incorporated with the time era, even if it didn't make sense (Whirlpool and Kingdom of the Dinosaurs come to mind). When that area became the Boardwalk, that flow was lost. Everything seems like one big convoluted mess now, and it feels so cramped. And in the transition of the Boardwalk, a lot of the buildings were kept the same, so there was no real attempt to try and retheme everything correctly. Just my $.02.

yeah, the parkinglot behind the park is useless, but the park wont be getting any bigger i think, rides may cross streets and use that land, but we will not see midways there, had the street not been there it would be a different story.

Its possible, I think. The news paper talked aboutt hem expanding across the street or building a water park, but they chose the water park. They have a LOT of land they can use, they just need to build it Kenucky Kingdom Style, which, if you ask me, wouldn't be all that bad.

AND on top of that, they don't need to compete with Disney Land, they just need to be the extra stop near by Disneyland that will attract people. Also it DOES compete with SFMM IMO, I mean who wants to drive an hour all the way to SFMM? People might go to SFMM every once in a while, but they'll go to Knotts 1 - 2 times a year because its closer. And like I said, Knotts is mostly the stop after disney land. But considering that, they probably should have more FAMILY (not just kiddy, or thrill rides) but family rides in the park.

I've heard of crane style, dragon style, crouching tiger style. Hell, I've even heard of hamster style. But Kentucky Kingdom Style! Do tell?

The Silver Bullet crew is fun!!! ...

They can definitely get annoying, but they actually are kind of funny sometimes. The last time I was there they were trying to guess what B&M stood for and eventually settled on Bonaduce and Malibu.

Just like that, they can take one of thier islands that are across the street, and just build on it, and add a bridge to connect it.

No body cares about those houses, not even the people who live in them. God should send a giant ball of fire and smite the houses and then the city can give that land to knotts, and we won't have to worry about the houses anymore.

^One difference: Kentucky Kingdom doesn't appear to have houses on the other side of the road they built across.

On a side note, Disney should build a pedestrian overpass connecting DL and DCA, make every pass a park-hopper, realign the Monorail to have a station somewhere around Paradise Pier and rebuild the People Mover to connect Hollywood Backlot.

Oh, and rename DCA to something like Californialand-and bring back the Skyride.

Seriously, building GhostRider over a road was BRILLIANT.

Wait untill this time next year. Knott's most likely will announce something big to counter "Tatsu". That way they can avoid all the 6FMM hype and not have to over compensate for advertising dollars to promote it.

It seems that KBF and MM skip years to release a major attraction so they don't have to compete directly.

I would love to speculate and guess that Knott's could counter with a Vertical Drop Coaster in 07. They then could get B&M to sign a contract to not allow another one to be built within so many miles for a number of years. Kinda like BGT did. They could build it over their rapids ride and have it do a splashdown soaking the rafts.

That would be cool!
