Hi guys, I hope this is appropriate for me to ask here:

I just earned a $600 bonus at work and was thinking about getting a new PC mostly for Planet Coaster. I am terribly computer illiterate when it comes to specs and I know we have some people on here that know better than I. Would this machine run PC nicely?

I hope it's not too late for me to get the early bird access. Any help would be much appreciated, I can't wait to start trying Planet Coaster out.

Honestly, that PC is pretty bad deal. But if you can't build your own and can't move on your budget, it should work. The game wont run very well. I have a $500 video card in my PC, and the game lags after a few coasters or a few flat rides go in. That computer has a $60 video card in it... if that tells you anything. PLC isn't really well optimized, at this point, though.

You could always swap the video card in the future, but I wouldn't waste the money on bad hardware. Spend a little more on the computer.

Go on the Planet Coaster Forum and make an account / log in there. Now post a comment in this thread and post your PC specs in there. Someone will come along and see if you can run the game well.

I don't know what the requirements are for Planet Coaster yet, but I'd be cautious there. That isn't really a gaming computer at all, no matter what they want to call it. That video card is going to be okay for casual games at best...it MIGHT run Planet Coaster with the settings turned way down, but you're not going to get a great experience. On top of that, Cyberpower is not exactly known for consistent quality. Some of their machines are fine, some look and perform like they were put together by a middle school kid. Lots of people are happy with theirs, but there are tons of horror stories too.

I know not everyone can afford to drop a ton of money on a high end gaming PC, but you're just not going to get a lot of enjoyment out of something like that; it's probably best to save up for something a bit nicer if you can.

That's not a good deal.

If I were you WAIT. NVIDIA and AMD just announced their new graphics cards which are a major leap forward in performance, and power consumption.

Also, AMD's Zen processors will be out later this year, which will be significantly better than that Fx4300.

It amazes me how quickly you can make something half decent in this. I haven't really had a chance to play it since I bought it due to my son being born.I wanted to have a quick play around so when I had 30 minutes spare so really quickly threw this together and then had a very quick play around to just check out placing scenery, terrain tools, vfx and lighting (just one quick spotlight on the other side of the ship and some small smoke machines on a tunnel to see how it worked.)

The only place I got stuck was trying for a dive loop, it just kept coming out completely inverted and I didn't have time to figure it out. Gotta agree with the people asking for pre-themed rides, really wanted to quickly put down a uni-coaster and try and barrel-theme it but there was no getting around the floaty brain.

I can only imagine that pain one would have to go through if arrow coasters had wave turns!

Well if they had not gone bankrupt and had put wave turns on new coasters like Tennessee Tornado, it probably wouldn't have hurt very much at all. But who knows

That was my thinking, especially with their ties to Alan Schilke. Tennessee Tornado is one of my favorite loopers, and I can only imagine what Arrow could have done today with advancing technology (and financial stability).

I like how the game doesn't punish you for thinking outside the box, when I quickly made a bridge using the jetty and driftwood I was happily surprised to see the game let the guests walk on it even though the scenery was higher than the path, too many games which would have a clearance issue. And yes my invert car was too long, I forgot to change the number when I built it

However I wish the same could be said for the coasters, I know it's early so hopefully in a future update but it still seems kind of restrictive even after 2.3. I get they want realism but if like the video above you can use sideways door and ride signs for roofs, a bit more freedom for the coasters would be appreciated. I just wonder why instead of having 1 wing coaster where you could select chain lift or launch they felt the need to now have 2 separate wing coaster selections. For the intamin launcher would be nice if we could make it go vertical or invert, or even just a chain lift to make a little junior coaster.

Also find it interesting what slows down my computer, I tried to fill a hole with about 40 smoke vfx to hide a tentacle and the game hit huge lag on the POV but rendering almost 100 rocks and about 20 lights in each tunnel was no problem at all.

^I don't think his parks would run on 99% of computers, I think he mentioned they don't even work on his in the end, some of the videos are sped up.

Here's the winner of the planet coaster community competition, the Alfheim video on the previous page of this thread was 2nd and this was 1st:

  • 2 weeks later...

This one was posted on Planet Coasters' German Facebook page, so we can put it here too (it is from the Coaster Head Club).

New environment (Desert theme).

New ground texture.

Re-colourable walls.

Re-colourable flat-rides.

New foliage (lilac wisteria looking thing).

Benches (with people using them).

Ride entrances without the arch.

Water.

Some pretty cool stuff here!
