Airtime in a car?

So yesterday, I was in the car heading to the science museum (which I mentioned in my previous forum), and as we were driving down off a bridge, there was actually quite a dip down, and we were driving at about 50mph. So when we went down that dip, we all actually floated up out of our seats, like a bit of ejector. It wasn't anything like Magnum or El Toro, but my Uncle David said it reminded him of the Blue Streak.

So, my question is, have you gotten any airtime, or other feeling of a ride element, somewhere that was NOT an amusement park ride?

Also, when we were coming out of the parking garage, we went around a bit of a helix that my Aunt Laura said was like the Iron Dragon, though I didn't think so.

Another thing, certain playground equipment I know can do the same thing. Like swings etc can deliver airtime, and if the person pushing the carousel does it hard enough, they can deliver a couple of G's. And I actually mentioned that in my "What is it that I love about going upside down?" forum.

This summer me and my family we went to Nova Scotia wich is in Canada and there was a lot of humps on the road and we were going about 70 mph so there was a bit of ejector airtime and that was one my favorite parts of the day. And the humps where pretty tall and quite steep so it was kind of like blue streak but less high.

In Cleveland, when you exit I-90 west at W. 98th/West Blvd. there is a slight hump as you cross over the W.98th St. intersection, that given at the right speed, produces a nice pop of air time. I used to do it a lot when I had friends in the back seat, who were the big benefactors of that airtime.

Here in St Pete we have a well known spot what's locally called Thrill Hill. It's a bridge that was built over Salt Creek to allow boats to navigate under the bridge, many many years ago. There's been many articles and photos in the papers and on line describing it. Accounts state that "thrill hill has been entertaining families for generations ". Interestingly enough is the fact that the city widened the bridge recently and left the hill intact, just wider now. There is even a proper way to ride the hill. Sources state that at 25mph, you get the butterflies, at 35mph, your stomach briefly leaves your body and at 45mph, you better have darn good suspension on your vehicle. I've done the bridge, and yes, it is fun.

One of the busiest roads in downtown Brussels is basically a "roller coaster road".

Here's a POV video.

Start watching at 00:50, nothing but drops and hills from that point onward. And definitely check out the tunnel at 02:15.

There's an airtime hill in the middle, and the exit is a double up.

In the road that connects the place where I live to the closest beaches there is a sort of airtime hill which, if travelled at a decent speed, gives you some air and because it also turns a bit you may get some laterals too . I remember once asking my mom to speed up and, as I was sitting in the back, I flew from one side of the car to the other! It was quite fun.

The southernmost section of US-395 has an undulating stretch that can give you a little bit of a floating feeling if you travel fast enough, though that route has gotten pretty heavy with traffic and the hills have been flattened somewhat. Further north, it is possible to detour to CA-120, which has been referred to as a roller coaster road due to a series of small hills. I've taken this road once or twice on trips to Mammoth Mountain and at the speed limit (45 MPH) you definitely feel like you're getting airtime. If you went double the limit you could probably jump your car. Obviously you shouldn't go twice the speed limit (I certainly never would), but the highway is often empty .

There is a railway crossing here in Switzerland, where the street goes down, but at the point of crossing it is flat and then it goes again down. There you could have nice Airtime but a few years ago, they built it new and now you don't get Airtime
