JT3000 Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 :? What is it with people and randomly getting the urge to pimp slap costumed characters? People who work with children, no less? http://www.wftv.com/news/4984561/detail.html
verticalzero Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 It shows what kind of father he is to his kids, not a good one. He deserves what he gets..
BarryH Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Man, what sort of guy beats up costumed characters at a theme park? I remember a while ago another parent beat up the Cookie Monster at Sesame Place. I don't know if this is true or not, but a friend told me a funny story of some punk kids who beat up some characters. Some kids punched and fought the seven dwarves. I don't know what started the fight, but the funny thing is that no matter how many times the kids punched the dwarves, it did no damage because the costumes' padness and stuffing gave the CMs protection. It was like beating a stack of 50 pillows.
CoasterEricHP Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 I hope that the person inside the costume wasnt a girl.. what kind of freak thinks its cool to do that to?! I mean are the people who walk around with the characters going to have tazers now? Alcohol was probably involved. One of the bad things about Universal (from a working there standpoint) is selling alcohol. I couldnt even start to count the number of times I had issues with drunk guests. Eric
RCTfan Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Sadness. I hope no one does that to me at Busch! I'm Photo Op Jack (pic in the "Picture of Me" thread). Yesterday was the first day and these two kids called me George W Bush. I scared them away. I think its silly to beat up a costumed character, what could they have done to you. They took a picture with you? Did they put their arm around your girlfriend? OH NO.
BelizeIt Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 I knew somone who worked at Disneyland and she said that being one of those characters could be a tough job. You can have some little kids stomping on your feet, kicking Etc... If its Hot outside that day, then your probably Boiling inside that outfit. Finally if someone tells you off, you can't say Squat! Because your NOT suppose to speak!!!
YoshiFan Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Man, what sort of guy beats up costumed characters at a theme park? I remember a while ago another parent beat up the Cookie Monster at Sesame Place. Yeah, I remember hearing about that on the radio talk station (since it was a local story). I think it had to do with Cookie Monster having to go on break (since it gets so hot in those costumes) and some parent was angry Cookie Monster was leaving without taking a picture with his kid.
Spookbaby Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 One time a while ago while on a youth group trip to Six Flags St. Louis my friend was dared to pull Foghorn Leghorn's tail and run off and she did (it wasn't a hard pull just enough to qualify fufilling the dare, the character didn't even feel it) but a Six Flags employee who was an older woman told her that she would have to apologize. It was hilarious to watch my friend have the lady walk her over to the character and apologize to a huge Forhorn-Leghorn costume!
BarryH Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 Things not to do... You don't tug on Superman's cape You don't spit into the wind You don't pull the mask off the Long Ranger You don't mess around with Jim You don't mess around with theme park characters!
AllisonY2K Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 I believe someone chased after Cinderella because she had to leave for a break and a parent was really mad her daughter didn't get a pic with the princess. chased after her, calling her names. some parents are just psycho.
PhishyBrewer Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 WTF? What makes people do such random things? Did he think it would be funny or something? What about the childern... what does this teach them? W.hat W.ould S.cooby D.o
tngdiablo Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 That's terrible. What did the daughter say to all this? And there is a HUGE difference between petting and punching.
freestylenut Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Man, the assualter is from around my way (Tampa). Maybe it gave him a sense of superiority? I was at the Barney show this Saturday with my 4-year old & 1-year old & there was a guy on the audience that was just starin' at me having a ball with my kids. And when it came down to the photo op, it looked like if Barney made a sudden move he was ready to slug him. Some people, I tell ya. There was a case about a decade ago now where some kids from King High School in Tampa assualted Mickey & threw him in the lake on GRAD NIGHT. Because of it, King H.S. was punished for several years, being the last one to disboard the Busses on the way to Grad Night & some other punishments I don't recall. You'd think we're a bunch of savages in Tampa or something
Teddymonster Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Man...some people have issues...
c0sterfreek Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 I would say thing bad but Robb said we couldn’t use Bad words in here. Why would someone do that expressly in front of his kid/other people’s kids? I agree with Teddymonster, Some people just have issues!
benzo41190 Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Ok well 4 years ago a skunk character at SFGAm was waving me over then he tried to trip me (failed). So when I was walking away I pulled his tall then ran away. Now i know that it was wrong but he was trying to trip me!
JT3000 Posted September 20, 2005 Author Posted September 20, 2005 Man, the assualter is from around my way (Tampa). Maybe it gave him a sense of superiority? Err, what?
freestylenut Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 Man, the assualter is from around my way (Tampa). Maybe it gave him a sense of superiority? Err, what? Well, they're totally seperate sentences man. The guy IS from my way in Tampa...making us Tampanians look bad. The "superiority" complex is when grown man think they're too "mature" to be around costumed kiddie characters. Come on, we've all seen them. He's just "too cool" to be around some clown in a toon suit. Made a little more sense now? Maybe?
cfc Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Tell me, did the assaulter (or, if you prefer, "batterer"), shout, "And I'd a gotten away with it, if it hadn't been for you dadburn kids"? Perhaps this fellow (or "idiot," if you prefer) was a avid fan of the old Scooby show, which he used to watch while cramming his face full of Sugar Pops, Frosted Flakes, and Fruit Loops. You know, that stuff can give you flashbacks--it's the kiddie equivalent of the "brown acid" at Woodstock! Maybe this poor guy (or "rampaging lunatic," if you prefer) started believing that he was the "Miner 49er" ghost and that he had to take out Scoob.
