spinning man Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Seeing that picture, it does amaze me how much they had to dig for oblivion.
Her0ofLime Posted October 13, 2012 Author Posted October 13, 2012 hat's PAX for you. All of their designs seem like they were conceived of while very drunk. Word.
cfc Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 Stingray at Giant Wheel Park is pretty bizarre. Like a Mauer Sohne Skyloop and a Vekoma Flying Dutchman had a baby.
JonnyRCT3 Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 ^For some odd reason, that looks really fun. especially the horseshoe turn, the dive right afterwards must pull some intense G's at the bottom.
cfc Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 ^Oddly enough, it's a pretty good, if forceful, ride. But it's pretty freaky.
Her0ofLime Posted October 14, 2012 Author Posted October 14, 2012 Stingray at Giant Wheel Park is pretty bizarre. Like a Mauer Sohne Skyloop and a Vekoma Flying Dutchman had a baby. Good thing Robb just posted a video of it, I can get a good look at the tangled mess, and see how it runs.
Her0ofLime Posted October 14, 2012 Author Posted October 14, 2012 ^^ Suzhou Giant Wheel Park to be precise.
3Mutts Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Abismo at Parque de Atracciones de Madrid is a odd layout for a Mauaer Söhne Skyloop Link: http://www.rcdb.com/3185.htm?p=12428
larrygator Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 How about G Force at Drayton Manor? Vertical chain lifts aren’t intense enough for you? Try a half loop chain lift! I'll vote for this piece of crap.
Meteornotes Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 ^That thing was horrid, with some of the worst restraints ever. I won't cry if I hear someone accidentally rammed a bulldozer into it a hundred times or so. dt
cfc Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 ^Agreed--although I did hear it said that it was better on TPR's 2012 UK Trip than it was back in 2006. Fortunately. Mauer Sohne has improved the X Cars over this earlier version (the Skyloop rides are fun).
andybarnes84 Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Another vote for phantom at Kennywood, amazing coaster but strange pacing and a little too short for my liking.
Rai Fox Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 No votes for Flight of Fear, or Joker's Jinx? There's a reason they're referred to as Spaghetti Bowls. Also, Twister at Knoebels, with that awesome split lift.
3Mutts Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Another one I forgot to mention is Comet Express at Lotte World (TR coming soon). IMO any coaster that has a monster that poops you out into space is an odd coaster all the way around. http://www.rcdb.com/1336.htm?p=17620 http://m.youtube.com/?reason=8&rdm=8016#/watch?feature=related&v=LtxC1gZ852I

It's really too bad it's the only extended sky loop that has been built.
ajfelice Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 I have never had the pleasure (or displeasure) to ride them, but several of the Arrow megaloopers from the late 1980s and early 1990s seemed odd. Soo much open, barren, and wasted space. These seemed to lack any true imagination, just gimmicky inversion machines. Some examples (some defunct) include: Shockwave at Six Flags Great America Great American Scream Machine at Six Flags Great Adventure Viper at Six Flags Magic Mountain

Brassinthegrass Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 No your right. I do think that Vipers layout is well designed, but GASM and Shockwave did have a lot of wasted space inside....
3Mutts Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Lets not forget the triple Arrow Corkscrew coaster Fantasia Special at Tongdo Fantasia! Link: http://www.rcdb.com/1399.htm?p=20581

DBru Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 If there's one element I feel like Arrow did correctly, it's the corkscrew. Now, the entrances/exits of those corkscrews...well, that's a different story.
Loefet Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Lets not forget the triple Arrow Corkscrew coaster Fantasia Special at Tongdo Fantasia! Link: http://www.rcdb.com/1399.htm?p=20581 Oh my god whyyyyyyyyyyyyy Apparently it's really awesome. Absolutely, no head banging what so ever. Just really strange theming and possibility to loose your arms if you ride them in the air (as it is on many other Korean coasters).
