Jew
I will say that I love what Alabama did: went right at the supposed strength of ND and never looked back. Basically said "screw you, we know we're better than you and we're going to prove it."
CoasterGuy06
The scary thing is this team loses less overall talent than last year did. I know the rest of college football is tired of us....but I don't care. I just want to enjoy it while it lasts.
Hilltopper39
You know I hadn't watched ND play that much this year but after hearing about all of the accolades Te'o accumulated through the off season I was really hoping for a better performance by him. I mean usually if a senior is a finalist for the Heisman trophy then I would have heard of the guy at some point in his career before his senior season, but I had never even heard of Te'o until this year, so what does that say? I know it wasn't all his fault last night but there were a lot of open field tackles in space that he missed, and a lot of blocks he couldn't get off of to try to make plays. Wasn't very impressed with him, but then again Alabama was just unbelievable so it's hard to put to much stock in that game one way or the other. I know everyone hates the SEC right now because of their run of dominant success, but the notion that it's "good" for someone else to win right now just to break the streak to me is kind of silly. Parity doesn't sell, having a villain sells. Right now Alabama and the SEC are the best villain the sport has seen in a long time and personally I love watching everyone try to play the role of "hero" and knock off the big bad SEC. It hasn't happened yet but it will eventually, but right up to the moment when the SEC falls the passion around college football on a national level will continue to rise to all time highs. I can only imagine the hype and anticipation around he BCS title game next year if Ohio State goes undefeated and has a title shot against Alabama, or the next year when it's Oregon, or the next year when it's Texas. It was Miami in the late 80s, Nebraska in the mid 90's, USC in the early 2000's, Florida in the mid 2000's and now it's Alabama, but who's next? BeemerBoy
Let's just hope this is the last time we ever see a "#1" team go into its title game as a freakin' 10-point dog. Sheesh. It was Miami in the 80s Fixed. Don't shortchange us...memories are the only thing keeping us sane these days.
Hilltopper39
^I heard that a couple of very large six figure bets were placed yesterday by multiple individuals on Alabama, so much that the line actually endued up at 10.5 or 11 maybe. ernierocker
It really does show how much ND skated by on a weak schedule as they never even competed in that game.
Jew
^I wouldn't call it a weak schedule...more so that Alabama finished the job that the other teams came close to exposing. They did play three top 25 teams (Stanford, Oklahoma, and Michigan), but had way too many close calls throughout the year. Side note regarding the SEC and the hype: Florida ranked ahead the team that embarrassed them in the final rankings?!?
ernierocker
^I think it had more to do with how far apart they were before the game. I forgot that ND played Stanford. Either way, I had hoped that it would be a closer game, but unfortunately I knew the final outcome at halftime.

Hilltopper39
What a weird weird story, I mean I don't even know what to think about this. Jew
I think him and Notre Dame's AD are terrible liars. Just fess up to it and move on. People might actually feel sympathetic towards him if he just said something like "I didn't know how to handle being in the spotlight, so I made this story up..." Other college football news: goodbye Chip Kelly! And USC has hired Cal's old DC to replace Monte Kiffin. Exciting times in the PAC-12.
Ed Farmer
WTF kind of a name is Kekua? It sounds like something you would name your pet if it was a tropical bird. Big warning flag right there. But this is sad. By 'this', I mean the sick TMZ hyena-like nature of our society nowadays. Who cares if he's diddling an imaginary girlfriend? He probably has mental or emotional instabilities. I was stunned that this was the topic of conversation on my sports radio station the entire 25 minute drive home after work.
Jew
I'm guessing people actually suffering from leukemia might care. The nature of the story makes it a big deal. He was exploiting human emotions playing the leukemia card. Not cool.
Hilltopper39
Even if Teo is the victim of an elaborate hoax whoever is responsible for that hoax is even more disgusting than Teo would be if he were responsible. This whole story is still extremely bizarre and throughout that press conference I couldn't help but think that Jack Swarbrick knows more about this than he is leading everyone to believe, it just doesn't add up. Especially in this day and age of technology how does a guy not get a text with a picture, or a twitpic, or FaceTime or skype this girl in person once over the course of this serious emotionally trying relationship where there were reportedly hours spent on the phone by her side while in the hospital? And if this was an elaborate hoax where Teo is truly the victim I find it hard to believe that a guy who is smart enough to go to Notre Dame would actually fall for this. Hilltopper39
^You can't trust a fullback, we'e all crazy and brain damaged from all the isos and power plays over the years..... But yeah, what the hell? I'm no lawyer so I ask is there any sort criminal charge that can be levied for creating a fake identity though social media and pretending to be that person? Any possible charges for faking the death of a person who does't exist? As intrigued as I was by this story a few hours ago I'm already kind of tired of this whole thing. Whenever Teo speaks publicly it should be interesting.

Hercules
My girlfriend and I were talking this morning and she came up with the possibility that T’eo might be gay. Thinking about it throughout the day, I came up with many arguments for the possibility. Now, I want to say that I am not “gay bashing”. I am a proponent of gay marriage and gay rights and things of that nature. But this elaborate hoax could be a huge cover up. 1. He attends a Catholic institution. 2. He plays football, a sport in which gays are seemingly not welcomed with open arms. 3. Listening to Mike Golic this morning, he did not see Te’o out with the team very often, and never saw him with a girl. Was Te’o getting questions from teammates about girls and just wanted to avoid the situation entirely? 4. He is a decent looking guy and a football star – he could have had anyone on campus that he wanted and it just never happened. 5. Why would he say she died? – He was due to make millions of dollars and could have easily had this girl flown in and could have met her at any time. He had to “kill her off”. Of course this is purely speculation, but I think is a total possibility.
BeemerBoy
1.He attends a Catholic institution. ....as a devout Mormon. If a devout Mormon attending one of the most notable Catholic schools in history isn't the biggest headscratcher from the start, then I'm not sure what is. Anyway, these are actually the common sense questions I've been asking since last night, but no news outlet seemed to wanna ask. And since it's Notre Dame we're talking about here, it's never more appropriate for me to call shenanigans on this guy.

Whether Teo is gay or not I still think that there will be a major American sports star who is currently active come out sometime in the next couple of years and it will be a huge story. ^And yeah, the Mormon thing, and I don't believe a word Jack Swarbrick says, ever, so who knows what other dirt there is on this whole situation (and others). Whatever the details are I'm sure the are going to be dug up soon by every news media outlet in the world.
