stingrock23
Bama still has to get by LSU. Sure, they'll be favored, but the Tigers have the horses to compete with them. And we've actually got a passing game now. Should be a great game.
Barge84
I'm an Iowa fan, so I naturally hate Wisconsin, but they were screwed last night. Not sure what the refs were doing the last 12 seconds of that game. Â Bama looked really good yesterday, but I still think LSU can play with them. Mettenberger has been throwing the ball really well this year. Â Iowa beat Iowa State, and no one outside of the state cared one bit. To be honest, we're both so bad this year that most people in the state weren't even excited about the game. Â UCLA was very impressive in the 2nd half. I love watching Nebraska get beat like that. LoneRider92
Ho hum, another day, another mind-numbing officiating call against a Wisconsin team. Good grief. We get the Fail Mary with the Pack last year and now this? I'm afraid to see what other sort of nonsense will happen this year. Â I wasn't awake to see the play, but I have seen the highlight. WAT. Â There was so much wrong with that play, but I don't really feel like getting into it. The only thing I can say folks is in the coming years, watch out for a guy named Melvin Gordon. The guy can flat-out ball.
cmullin
Stanford looked pretty weak against Army, and yes, unfortunately, it looks like Bama is going to go to the BCS yet again.
Hilltopper39
Can we just go ahead and fast forward to Alabama vs Oregon?
Jew
^That's not going to happen because USC is going to beat Oregon in the PAC-12 title game!

Jew
^Yeah...Stanford v. Oregon will be the next "game of the year." Until that Saturday, which then is LSU v. Alabama. That's going to be a fun week of football!
Hilltopper39
Yeah there's an awful lot of football left to be played, everyone has kind of forgotten about Clemson. If they win out they'll have wins over Georgia, FSU, South Carolina, and potentially Miami/Va Tech. They're be awfully hard to leave out of a championship game if that was their resume. cmullin
Stanford is definitely a legit contender to beat Oregon, though even if they do, and won out, Stanford probably still won't make the BCS Championship.
Jew
A decent weekend of football ahead...  ND/Oklahoma Georgia/LSU Wisconsin/Ohio State  And USC gets its first real road test at ASU---offense better show up if they want to stand a chance! cmullin
Georgia/LSU should be interesting, especially if Georgia's defense shows up. USC definitely has a shot against Arizona St. they're not that good, shouldn't even have a winning record, except for the botched last play at Wisconsin. Jew
The deed has been done. Don't think it will help USC much, since they are so shorthanded and now down a defensive coach (Ed Orgeron taking over as HC leaves them with only TWO defensive coaches!). Thanks to the sanctions, no matter who comes in will be playing short handed for his first 3-4 years...
Meteornotes
^Don't think it will make much of difference at this point either, but he really had to go. Probably should have happened after last season. Â dt

Jew
^I think he deserved a final chance to prove himself this season. Holding onto play calling duties ultimately did him in, but the recruiting/scouting job he's done under sanctions is impressive. After the ASU game, it was obvious this season was a lost cause so there was no longer any upside to keeping him. Â Now the problem becomes the uncertainty of recruiting: kids don't know if the assistants currently recruiting them will be around, nor do they know who they will be playing for as their head coach. If they want an existing college guy, they won't be able to get him until January---leaving him just one month to put together a staff and recruit. That's a HUGE problem considering they still have 1 more year of limited scholarships (can take 20 this year I believe with early enrollees), and will have to take another 3-4 years after that to get back to 85 scholarship players... ZeroGravity55
Orgeron was the head coach at Ole Miss for awhile, unfortunately the most known thing he probably did was land Michael Oher and get an appearance in the move "The Blind Side." He's a great recruiter, so he might be able hold what's left of this upcoming class together. As for the next head coach, USC can get anyone they want, but who would want the job? It would probably be appealing if the sanctions were not there. My personal opinion, USC needs a coach like Penn State's Bill O'Brien. Somebody who is going to stick with the program through thick and thin, and has a great idea of what he's doing. Going with somebody who used to be a NFL coach, with no college experience seems like the logical choice, but does USC want to follow the same steps has UCLA? Should be interesting to find out! Hilltopper39
So who are some of the early favorites for the USC jabs, you heard any names yet Joey? Â Should be an interesting off season with the USC and potentially Texas jobs both open. Those are both still really good jobs that will pay someone a lot of money so it should be interesting to see who is considered. I really can't think of any "hot young up and coming coaches" in the world of college football like there has been in the past. Chris Peterson at Boise State is a guy whose name always comes up but he never even seems remotely interested. Maybe Texas or USC is the job he's been waiting for... Jew
The most realistic name that is popping up is Jack Del Rio. Kevin Sumlin is the hot name the media is reporting. Â My personal opinion, USC needs a coach like Penn State's Bill O'Brien. Somebody who is going to stick with the program through thick and thin, and has a great idea of what he's doing. Going with somebody who used to be a NFL coach, with no college experience seems like the logical choice, but does USC want to follow the same steps has UCLA? Should be interesting to find out! Â Pete Carroll (who actually wanted to stay at USC, but Mike Garrett ruined it) was there before UCLA hired Jim Mora (who is going to jump back to the NFL the first chance he gets). ZeroGravity55
^ Yeah I though about that, I just wasn't sure if USC wanted to go down that same path again. You know the folks over at UCLA would probably say they're copying them, even though they really copied USC's model. Â I've read that Clemson's offensive coordinator Chad Morris,Washington's head coach Steve Sarkisian, and St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher could be other candidates. Wasn't Steve Mariucci, and Herm Edwards candidates at some point before Kiffin was hired? I wouldn't swear to it though. Kevin Sumlin would be a interesting choice. Short term doesn't make sense, but long term might workout. USC would have to stick with him through these scholarship limitations, because it's only going to get worse, before it ever gets better and that goes with any coach they hire. Jew
There were reports that he was spotted on campus shortly after Pete Carroll jumped for the NFL. He was an assistant coach at USC for one year in 1985.
Hilltopper39
Summlin is a guy that I kind of forgot about. Even though he's done a heck of a job at Texas A&M, once Manziel is gone and Texas is back where they belong A&M will once again the second rate job in that state. I think that program is built to last but it will always be #2 behind Texas in that state no matter what they do. USC however is a whole different story......
Jew
^Right on both accounts. Texas is going to pay their next coach a ridiculous amount of money, and if that guy is proven...A&M's time in the spotlight is over. Sumlin would also have no problem recruiting 5 star athletes at every position at USC with his offense.
Hilltopper39
What are the chances that Saban bounces for Texas or USC? I mean the guy doesn't have a reason to leave Bama, but he didn't have a reason to leave LSU or Miami either so can't put those 2 programs past him. Â Also, why isn't Dabo Swinney's name more popular in these coaching searches? I mean Clemson is a nice program but it aint Texas or USC. What he has done at Clemson has been pretty remarkable given that programs's history, he's be pretty high on my list.
Jew
Supposedly Nick Saban turned down $10 million from Texas. He probably knows that he's only safe from the NCAA if he stays within the SEC...
