Hhappy Posted February 10, 2013 Author Posted February 10, 2013 let's take a jump to Japan. Fuji-Q is home to Dodonpa. The place has some fun rides, but ride op efficiency just does not feel like Japan. Basically the entire parks efficiency could be improved. Only had one visit, got lucky (thanks Robb and Elissa) and i'm still wondering if getting the new credits is worth another visit... Time will tell i guess... extreme hair time going up but what goes up, has to go down.. and yeah.. a turn is needed as wel.. just to get back to the station
Blue Fire Guy Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 I spy lots of crazy hairtime (especially in that first photo)! I hear this ride's top hat contains the single most extreme moment of airtime on ANY coaster ever, and I also hear that it ejects you so hard that it actually hurts a bit as well. I haven't ridden it, but is that the case here?
Hhappy Posted February 11, 2013 Author Posted February 11, 2013 Travelling fair time Olympia Looping Impressive good and fun coaster. Would not mind giving it another try and ride it a bit more (like at night) loop de loop some fun with the "locals"
Randomman295 Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 I just caught a glimpse of Dodonpa's wheel base. Are those... TIRES? Sounds like a terrible idea on SO many levels.
jray21 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Olympia Looping was a ton of fun! The whole fair was so incredibly fun.
Moose Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Olympia Looping Impressive good and fun coaster. Would not mind giving it another try and ride it a bit more (like at night) Night rides at Oktoberfest were an absolute blast. Good beer right outside of it, shots of jäger right around the corner. Yeah, very good times indeed.
amyzoo Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 That's a really fun ride, I'm glad I got to ride it.
Hhappy Posted February 13, 2013 Author Posted February 13, 2013 (edited) Pop quiz time (or something like that) Which coaster is this? edit: yes it is Grizzly at King's Dominion Edited February 14, 2013 by Hhappy
Hhappy Posted February 13, 2013 Author Posted February 13, 2013 I have a feeling it's a very painful one! to be honest.. i don't remember much of the ride. Guess i rode it once and tried to forget it asap after that
imawesome1124 Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I have a feeling it's a very painful one! Wrong. Since the retracking it's been fairly smooth.
cfc Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 ^"Smooth" is a relative term when it comes to KD's Grizzly.
SuperShawn Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I don't recall it being "that" bad, but it was raining and we were tired.
Meteornotes Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 ^"Smooth" is a relative term when it comes to KD's Grizzly. It's smooth when compare to Hurler, I suppose. Other than that, yeah, not so much. dt
cfc Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I don't recall it being "that" bad, but it was raining and we were tired. I actually kind of like Grizzly.
Hhappy Posted February 14, 2013 Author Posted February 14, 2013 How about a woodie from Japan? It's Jupiter from Kijima
SharkTums Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 I don't understand how some people look like they're actually having fun on this compared to the people who are in the correct "oh my god, what is this ride doing to my body?" position. Poor Stacey in that wheel seat looks like she's going to die!
cfc Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 ^I was definitely in the "oh my god, will this hell never end?" group back in 2007.
disney4me2001 Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 The train in that photo has a really odd-looking paint job!
Meteornotes Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Yeah, this ride is, um, not very good... dt
ernierocker Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Those Japanese Intamin woodies seem to be an oddity in the Intamin lineup of coasters.
cfc Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 ^I think Jupiter was the first Intamin woodie, although I can't swear to that. If so, they certainly got better.
shivtim Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 And oddly enough, Regina at Tobu Zoo is pretty good.
