ILoveRides Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 (edited) Sorry for posting so many different versions! Which one do you guys like best? Edited March 8, 2012 by ILoveRides
Taylor Finn Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Personally, the less busy the better. The initial few with the new ferris wheel are nice in my opinion. That fills up some empty space without making anything too busy. I do this design a lot.
robbalvey Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 We are about to head off on a 5-day trip so if it seems like I've stopped responding as much...that is why! Great work everyone!
DougMJr Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 ^^I actually prefer the original. And that last one is very busy. Â Anyway, worked on this design a little more. But going to start over and try something different. Original Removed Images, just the shapes now. Background image if desired.
Reviar Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Have just glanced at some of the posts and feedback that have been written, so unsure if my idea is similar to anyones. Â Images used from the index. And of course it is just a very refined draft. Â
STR8FXXXINEDGE Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Well, I have some ideas, but I unfortunately can't execute them right now. Here is a rough draft of one of them, though. I really like the original Cover Photo that was up, and I know some others have said it too. So, I figured this would be a way to keep that and add a bit of "branding" to it, and still keep it simple at the same time. Â Please note: I can't get into my computer that has Illustrator and Photoshop on it right now, so this very rough draft was thrown together in Paint. Not in anyway a final draft or anything. I just figured if the idea was liked, someone else could do it for real, unless I happen to be able to get into one of my old computers before then.
FuzzleMonkey Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 It's simplistic, but that's what (in my opinion) makes for a nicer design. Besides, you want visitors to focus on the videos, links, and text below the cover, not the cover itself. The cover's only there as a reconfirmation as to what page they clicked on. Â Â Â I know you also said you'd prefer to avoid the photo being solely coaster(s), but in my defense, the majority of your target audience is probably a collection of coaster enthusiasts. Although their interests probably also include theme parks, thrill rides, etc., coasters are their primary hobby. Â Just my opinions, anyhow.
Visioneer Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 So much talent around here. I really just wanted to get the imagination kicked up a notch  @ILoveRides ... nice stuff. Think Fibonacci spiral with your design. It helps with balance & flow. You're close (but you don't have to take it literally).  I may have some time this weekend to incorporate the general consensus.
DaveH80 Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 ^^^Looks great Brian, since it's been used prior I'm sure many aggree it's an awesome picture w/ great color... and of course an AWESOME coaster I'm happy to say I've ridden Lots of great ideas out there!!
donkeyman18 Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 ^^^^Great job I really like this one. so simple yet so good!
ILoveRides Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 (edited) I'm between these two... The older version. I like its simplicity. Newest version. Not as simple, but does a better job of illustrating the tag line. (Note: The gallery images wouldn't rotate - I tried to pick ones that could last awhile) Edited March 9, 2012 by ILoveRides
larrygator Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 ^^Doesn't sound like Robb will want that unappealing picture of him.
ILoveRides Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 ^ It's super appealing! But if he requests I can easily switch it for something else.
ILoveRides Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 Made the coaster wrap around a bit more, and a few other changes...
jedimaster1227 Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 ^That looks pretty darn amazing! Â But you have to remember that TPR is one big family and the cover photo should have a sense of family to it... Might I suggest this lovely portrait (that Bryan had long forgotten about) to convey the message properly... Â But in all seriousness, I really love where you're taking this! Keep up the awesome work!
Visioneer Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Just throwing this out there too... taking into account what Rob liked about the other brands (i.e. simplicity). Â Photo from TPR Index (and fuzzy due to resizing). Simple concept Test color Test black & white
gax Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 Thought I'd have a stab at this.. All images taken from the park directory.
PurpleMonkey Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 I've been a longtime lurker of this site, and I saw this opportunity, and I love doing stuff like this, so I decided to join the site, and here's my stab at it. I'm definitely taking the "simple" side, and I'm not sure if it's flashy enough. Hmm. And the font is kind of questionable. Feedback is appreciated!
