Kevin Long
Just found this today and would be interested in your comments.... looks incredibly dangerous to me..... http://www.dump.com/2011/01/23/merry-go-round-and-ferris-wheel-rolled-into-one-video/ Thanks and sorry if it is in the wrong place or formatted incorrectly Kevin
Ace Of Spades
That's not a Ferris Wheel or a Merry-Go-Round...it looks more like an astronaut training device.
the ghost
Yeah...no, not liking this idea. That looks like a bit much and seems vomit inducing...simplicity is key people!
beatle11
Umm, wow. He says that never flips riders upside down which is pretty amazing considering how much that spins. Looks vomit inducing for sure though.
ebl
"Rings of Saturn?" More like "Vomi-nator." Nice concept, but any park that puts that in will spend a fortune on that vomit cleanup stuff. Eric
djbrcace1234
The concept is nifty, but the way the model spins so fast makes the ride look absolutely painful.
man
I would prefer to see chaos style seating and see this thing pushed to its full potential Looks like an interesting design too bad the inner ring cant really run on a wheel and spin (say if it was flat just in a circle on the flat ground plane). WFChris
The outer ring, where the majority of the seats are, looks like a boring repetitive ride.
larrygator
According to that prototype the ride would hold a lot of people. Checking restraints will take quite some time. Edited January 26, 2011 by larrygator
A.J.
According to that prototype the ride would hold a lot of people. Checking restraints will take quite some time. Especially if the ride were equipped with OTSRs or overhead lap-bars (because, there is the inevitable situation that a carriage could be stuck in an upside-down position). The carriages won't go upside down (except with the imperfect demonstration model).
the ghost
That's not a Ferris Wheel or a Merry-Go-Round...it looks more like an astronaut training device. Agreed, if no one had said anything I would have not guessed it was either of those two rides. I just cant imagine anyone wanting something like this. The concept seems better than the actual idea, and its just too different to work.
Band-Aid
Although it probably won't happen, I hope to see this at a park in the future. It looks fun
XII
While I'm sure this ride will never get built for maintenance reasons, I'd be really happy if one ended up getting built as it looks like a really fun ride.
WFChris
Is nobody else noticing that the outer ring of the ride is a repetitive and boring ride? The interior is the excitement that your eyes are drawn toward yet there are significantly less seats there.... Make the outer ring just for mechanics and put all of the passenger seating on the interior. Thats a good ride
Mechanic
I almost puked, and then almost fell out, just watching the video.
let1gre
I think it's a cool idea - pretty much a rideable gyroscope. It's also important to note that the size of the model also gives gravity a larger impact on it, so it may be (slightly) less vomit-inducing if manufactured in actuality. samisthabomb
In order for the ride to be successful, it would probably need to spin a little slower. Very interesting concept, though.
