Justin Adams Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 Got this from Coasterbuzz *shudder* : http://greatcoasters.com/news.html Looks pretty damn sweet to me. Some people are complaining about "no airtime" from the look of the video, but so what? GCI hasn't disappointed me yet. Their coasters aren't meant for airtime, but a wild, fast and good ride. Sounds perfectly acceptable to me. Enjoy. Justin
Stitch Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 I think it is an excellent addition, I don't see it as having to compete with the other woodies in the world, I see it as another coaster for Kentucky
SonOfBeastSucks Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 The ride looks fairly decent to me also. My mom grew up going to Beach Bend and the campgorund by the park, so she is pretty excited about this. I will certainly make a stop the next time I am in the area.
DonkeyBreath Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 I don't know if it's just me but that looks like something designed in RCT, that prelift also looks weak as heck. The overall coasters just looks very uneventful imo. Yet I'm not going to judge the book by it's cover, it could actually turn out to be a killer ride.
crispy Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 I'd say it looks very fast, but has little airtime, I noticed one airtime hill, but again, its hard to tell from a CG POV ride, so we will see
Stitch Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 Why does every wooden coaster have to be an air time machine? I think the ride looks very fun, there are so many twists and turns
danandjackie Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 Its very hard to make out what it will be like when viewing these animations...
rollermonkey Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 Is it just me, or does the GCI logo look suspisciously similar to the ACE logo? (From the websites) Chris B
coasterguy618 Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 It does sort of. THe new woodies looks ok. I have to admit it dosn't look like it has airtime.
MagnumForce Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 Ozark Wildcat and Thunderhead don't look like they should have airtime either, but they most definitely do. GCI just seems to be getting stronger and stronger with their ride designs adding a lot more forces in weird ways then they used too.
CoasterFanatic Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 ^ What he said. Like Thunderhead and Ozark, I am guessing that the airtime will be little soft pops scattered all over the ride. I would guess 12-14 of them.
Justin Adams Posted August 26, 2005 Author Posted August 26, 2005 I feel like a wooden coaster doesn't have to have tons of air to be a good ride. GCI isn't known for airtime, anyways, so is it really a surprise that their newest design doesn't look to have much? We'll see when it opens.
Real Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 Ozark Wildcat and Thunderhead don't look like they should have airtime either, but they most definitely do. I love how they put airtime and crazy forces in the most unique areas. It sets them apart as a different type of wooden coaster. Its not like GG/CCI where you know where the forces are (which, are more fun IMO) but I still love how GCI manages to do a ride like Thunderhead which is just an outstanding ride with airtime and lats in weird places.
Skier Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 It is a twister, not an out and back. The thing is made to give you nice forces on turns, not insane air. It looks like a short but sweet ride, but I still belive it won't beat thunderhead.
PhishyBrewer Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 It doesn't look like much, but will probably become a classic.
