G$ Kurt
The biggest problem I have with this rumor is why July 1? Why would a park want to close a ride right before the busy 4th of July weekend? Just doesn't make much sense to me..
Six Flags Enthuseast
I'll wait until the official announcement about any plans before saying anything.
tanthonyam
Well it is nice if the parks gets new flats, lets hope they keep all of them this time, make sure they operate reliably and are not lawn ornaments like so many of those in the past. schotj
I'm sorry, but there is no way Great Adventure deserves this ride. Who makes you in charge of what Gadv deserves and doesn't deserve? Rumors are flying around left and right...how do you know that Gadv is NOT getting flat rides for next year?? Why don't we all wait for the official announcement? Getting upset of rumors is supid haha Edit: I just read the guy's post above me. You all are being so naive. You have no idea how many flats Gadv is getting next year. People hear a rumor on the internet...ON THE INTERNET....and believe it to the "T." You say Gadv is getting 6 flats like its written in stone, provide some sources if you post stuff like that Sorry, but six flats is what Shapiro planned for GADV, according to CoasterFusion. This may be right or wrong, but I was trusting CoasterFusion in the post above. Obviously Weber could have changed this, but if he's really looking at what each park needs, he'll realize we need flats. Thanks for calling us naive, though. I was being nice by calling you naive. Again...all of these things you all are talking about are still rumors. Therefor take what everyone says with a grain of salt and wait for the initial announcement to make judgements. Your post said, we're getting six flats as well. like it was fact. If you take information from another website...at least mention that site. scipiomask
^ Sorry, it's my fault for saying it like it was fact. It's not, I just got over-excited. There's still no need for insults, though. This forum is just for discussion.
CoasterPrince
If we do get flats next year I know that they will not be "lawn ornaments" like the ones in the past. If you've visted Gadv in the past 3 years you can see that operations have changed for the better and almost ALL of the rides are open everytime you visit. Hooray for Huss Flat Packages! razor12
I'm shocked about the GASM move! This might mean Viper might be on its way out in the future if Weber want's to omit the competition with coasters and CP. However, if Chang were to go anywhere i'd pick out SFGAdv. It would fit in perfectly with all the B&M's. After being to Six Flags St. Louis Chang would look kind of weird there. It wouldn't blend with the terrain like most the coasters there do. I just can't see a Stand-Up at SFStL. Chang would just pull another parking lot Scream! stunt.
Six Flags Enthuseast
^I really don't think Viper is going anywhere. It is not bad, like GASM is and Shockwave was.
larrygator
The biggest problem I have with this rumor is why July 1? Why would a park want to close a ride right before the busy 4th of July weekend? Just doesn't make much sense to me.. Purely playing Devil's Advocate here, but what about if it is not being trashed but reloacted to another park. July 1st might be the date that work needs to start in order to: 1 - Install a replacement coaster for the start of the 2011 season. 2 - Relocate GASM and install at another park in time for the 2011 season. I'm not saying 1 and 2 will both happen but maybe the July 1st time frame is need to just ensure the replacement will be up in time. Most SFGAdv patrons would consider Chang a new coaster if it ends up in New Jersey and remember there is not a good stand-up close to SFGAdv. Then again I only consider Riddler's Revenge, Georgia Scorcher, Mantis and Chang to be good stand-ups. S:UF still gets the 2nd longest line on a typical day (SFGAdv patrons are strange). DiveMachine
^S:UF's capacity is AWFUL. I waited 10 minutes in the station for a 2 train wait, that is what causes long lines
SaweetDude04
I believe that S:UF gets the 2nd longest line due to low capacity more than anything else. Last season it always started with two trains, then by the end of the day it was down to one train with a nearly full line, and this was during the week when I went. While it is sad to see any coaster go, at least GASM is (possibly) being replaced with another large looping coaster as opposed to getting replaced with something not as impressive (i.e. Shockwave -> S:UF)

larrygator
I would love to see Chang there, but does the park really need 5 beemers? Since 98.3%* of the park patrons think all the beemers are in the parking lot, I don't see a problem with it. *I have no supporting documentation to back-up this statistic, but that doesn't mean I'm lying. I would love to see Chang there, but does the park really need 5 beemers? If it was my dream park- ABSOLUTELY, I want one of every kind of B&M they make, but I'm not sure it would be a good choice for GADV. Six flags might get a better return on the investment by putting Change somewhere else. SFDK maybe? or SFNE? I really agree. SFGAd already has plenty of great coasters. SFNE and SFDK are both great parks for expansion. Of those two, though, I think SFDK would be better because it needs it.. SFNE is pretty good without another coaster. SFDK, however, really does need one more to make it better.
tatertot3710
Why not give SFA Chang? They don't have a B&M.
Six Flags Enthuseast
^I guess they could use one, too. But SF has to place them strategically in order to make maximum profit and to attract best attendence. I'm sure they've considered putting it in a few of their parks, but they've probably found some selling point in *maybe* putting it at SFGAd. DerekRx
I like Larry's thinking. Step 1: Take down GASM Step 2: Paint GASM Step 3: Reassemble GASM at Kentucky Kingdom and tell the new owners it's totally the same coaster they had before known as Chang Step 4: Plop Chang down on GASMs old spot at SFGAd Step 5: Collect underpants Step 6: ??? Step 7: Profit
Jerrykoala2112
Why not give SFA Chang? They don't have a B&M. I really don't think SFA needs another mega-coaster right now. They'd be better off with a Tony Hawk clone that Chang. I'd much rather see Chang go to SFSTL.
ArizonaGuy
Aren't there a lot of the same elements in Chang as there are in Medusa.....err I mean Bizzaro? Loop, Dive Loop, Corkscrews? I just don't see this making sense. I guess that's my argument like everyone else saying "Why would it go to SFGAm since they already have a stand up?" Eh I dunno...I guess we'll wait and see. larrygator
^Your point might be valid regarding Bizarro and Batman (or any floorless and invert), but the GP most certainly knows when they are standing up on a coaster.
KDcoasterMAN
If anybody was interested... As I was... Chang has an awkward fit... EDIT: added #4 scenario (improved version of #2) Scenario #1 Scenario #2 Scenario #3 Scenario #
