HCOSurfer90 Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 ^Go to GADV Source and look there. Their information is pretty good and of course informal.
okinawaboy11 Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 ^ Technically, the first day of summer (summer solstice) is June 21st. Oh lol, did not know. But still June sounds awfully late, I sware I heard May. I could be going crazy also
Reality15 Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 A cable snap takes a matter of hours to fix if they have another cable on-site. I was at Cedar Point last September when a cable snapped around 1 PM. The ride was back up and running by 7 PM when I got on it. From what I've heard from a few park employees, something fell on the launch track and got into the catch car's track. It sounds like the only part that needs to be replaced, however, is the catch car, so it shouldn't be TOO long of a wait.

Hercules Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 ^Go to GADV Source and look there. Their information is pretty good and of course informal. Actually, DON'T go to GADV Source because a lot of the information there IS NOT good.

Jon Sabo Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 So, with all of this information floating around about the cable breaking; it now is presumed that it was damage when an object was caught in the track/channel? I though there was an earlier post about someone (kick in the head if true) taking a cell-phone onboard and he/she apparently lost it during the launch? *Assuming the post about KK is down because of El Toro construction access, that is either the most brilliant comeback from a marketing/guest relations team (or the biggest cow-lie of all time..lol).

Actually, DON'T go to GADV Source because a lot of the information there IS NOT good. What are you talking about? Of course, some people don't know what they are talking about, but I trust Stew and GAcoaster's info.
Hercules Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Right. Stew and GACoaster are the only ones, and you can get their info right here
stew560 Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 A few more pics from Sunday... Not much changing now that they are working on the Twister section that is not visible from pretty much anywhere. Tracking should have been completed yesterday. The Trains were still in the parking lot on Sunday. The rest of my pics are here.
DerekRx Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 Wow, I didn't think they'd actually get it finished so soon with all the work they had to do yet on opening weekend, but it looks like they'll actually get this thing opened this Spring. Good for them and great for us!
ECZenith Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 Did you get a good look at the trains? Do they look the same as the other Intamin woodies Balder and Colosus?
HCOSurfer90 Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 From pics I've seen, they don't really look like the trains on Balder and Colossus. I'm pretty sure they have U-Bars instead of T-Bars.
okinawaboy11 Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 U-Bars? Are ya' crazy ? U-Bars are usually only used for kiddie coasters. It's either a T-Bar, or a L-Bar, hands down.
okinawaboy11 Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 Well, those are heavy duty, only on Premier coasters. Intamin doesn't make a U-Bar like that.
alpengeist04 Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 ET will have U-bars and wings at shoulder height.
DerekRx Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 Premier, Schwarzkopf, Gerstlauer, Giovanola, and now Intamin all use U bars. You'll see some changes with the El Toro restraints from the other plug n plays, but it won't hinder the ride experience.
okinawaboy11 Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 ET will have U-bars and wings at shoulder height. Wings?
BeemerBoy Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 U, L, T..... They can put the whole alphabet in there if they'd like, as long as it's opened by Memorial Day! (I know, fat chance, right?)
Hercules Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 Eh, not that fat. I would think it would be a big mistake it they didn't. If I were in charge I would have made sure that it was done and ready for that weekend.
Joe Cool Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 Theya should make the guy that lost his cell phone pay for the part haha that will teach him to secure all loose articles!!
rjholla2003 Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 From here: http://gadvupdates.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=506&start=45 A little update... Damage was minor There was no damage to the coaster train or any area normally occupied by guests. This incident has absolutely nothing at all to do with what happened last year. No info yet on a possible opening but it doesn't sound like its all that bad
rjholla2003 Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 ET will have U-bars and wings at shoulder height. Wings? Yep, little "wings". It's hard to explain without a picture, so I won't try. Besides, my head hurts a lot right now.
