Wheelchaircoaster
Looks like a great time! I like that new shockwave sign! I-305 looks great!
CoasterNERD502
I think The Grove section of the park needs a new major thrill because when I was at the park yesterday, that section seemed so "dead". I did not ride anything over there because none of the coasters were worth waiting an hour for when Intimidator had only a 15 minute wait, if that. Â My Ride Count Volcano- 2 Anaconda- 1 Intimidator- 3 Flight of Fear- 1 Avalanche- 1 Crypt- 1 Dominator-
willh51
Thanks guys! That's a sharp eye Intimdator 305! The new roof does look really good, too.

CoasterNERD502
^Hypersonic was a "bad taste"? I actually liked that ride even though I only rode it once before it was demolished. The brake was pretty hard but the launch and hill was worth it. Â Was there any reasoning behind demolishing Hypersonic?
redfoot12
^I hated Hypersonic and so did a lot of other people. You pretty much nailed it--the launch was the only thing the ride had going for it. I believe it was closed mainly due to being a maintenance nightmare. The park tried to sell it without any success and then it was just scrapped. willh51
It was definitely the constant maintenance and decreasing ridership. Hypersonic XLC was actually a pretty good ride when it opened. The launch beat the later Top Thrill Dragster and Kingda Ka in terms of intensity, and, depending on the weight of the train, you could get some crazy airtime over the tower. I remember loving it in its first couple of seasons, and the park changed the train design up several times. After a few years, the ride got incredibly rough after the launch. The aircraft tires built for "smoothness" didn't really cut it. I remember getting shuffled so badly over the tower that I hit my head violently on the back of the seat. That is the worst "injury" I've ever gotten on a rollercoaster and it soured me on the ride. The turn also got very rough and the brakes never were particularly comfortable. redfoot12
^Yeah, I didn't ride it until 2006 so I never experienced a "good" version of the ride.
braztaz
The pathway behind the Eiffel Tower was closed off Wednesday for preparations for Snoopy's Starlight Spectacular. Â Sorry for the horrible quality, this was taken with my phone because my iPod fell out of my pocket while I was throwing up due to heat exhaustion and I couldn't find it. Thankfully, and employee turned it in to Lost and Found just as I was leaving...
coasterfreak101
Yeah, it's still closed today. I'm at the park right now - it's pretty packed!
Intimidator305
^^ Thanks for the picture. KD picked the perfect area in the park for Snoopy's Starlight Spectacular. Did you happen to get a picture of the new "roof" on PEANUTS Showplace?

B-RadG
I went to the park today expecting it to be a slow weekday. I was so far from right. Every single ride had a full queue, even Rebel Yell. Overall it was a good day though. I got a lot of rides in. My last ride was Flight of Fear and I ended up waiting almost two hours. Am I honestly the only person that doesn't like Dominator? Everyone loves it but I honestly think it's rattly and forceless.
coasterfreak101
^Yeah, it was a mess today. We ended up with four rides in I305 and one on almost every other coaster that was open, minus Volcano (we skipped it in the morning - man, that was stupid) and Shockwave (line out the entrance). Â The red train for I305 was taken off around 4pm today - it was clanging the entire way up the lift, as loud as it could have possibly been. It went from perfectly silent in the morning to worse than I've ever heard later in the day.

I was on the next train when they took the red train off, it had been clanging for a while but nobody seemed to notice until it did it bad. I don't usually bother with Volcano either unless the wait is extremely short.
braztaz
Wow, I wonder why it was so crowded? I can't believe Rebel Yell had a full queue...I've only seen it as a walk on!

Dominator had a horrid rattle towards the end of last season but I didn't notice any rattle on my opening weekend rides.  Anyone know what the weather forecast for KD is on saturday?I hope to go to the park that day as long as it's not gonna be raining all day. Philrad71
I figured I would post my E-mail and response from Kings Dominion regarding processing my PP at KD versus CP. Sure hope it isn't as busy as what people were mentioning earlier. I plan on going one week from Sunday if the weather holds up!   Hello,  Last year for the first time, I purchased a Platinum Pass for 2011 at Cedar Point, which is one of the closest Cedar Fair parks to my home (appx 4 hours). Come the end of April, I will be visiting Virginia and would like to visit Kings Dominion. I read online that the pass is supposed to be processed at the park at which it was bought, but being that Cedar Point does not open it's season pass processing until the end of April, there is no way that I can process it at that park before my trip to Virginia.  Would it be possible to process my season pass down there, or at least be able to get a voucher to get me into the park during the day I choose to visit? I will obviously bring my receipt for my Platinum Pass with me during my visit and would assume that I would bring it to Guest Relations. I am also curious about the free parking with the Platinum Pass. Would I initially pay at the parking lot gate and then get reimbursed at Guest Relations, or do I simpy show them the receipt for the Platinum Pass to gain free parking?  Please let me know the best approach for when I visit...I am looking forward to my day at Kings Dominion!  Sincerely, Phillip Radspinner    Response: "Thank you for your inquiry. You will be able to process your platinum pass at any Cedar Fair park was well as take advantage of the free parking as long as you have your E-ticket to show the parking lot attendant."  I don't have an E-ticket, but I would assume that showing them my receipt of purchase should work just as well. ajm1240
In Cedar Fair speak, I believe your "E-ticket" is the PDF you should have printed out after you purchased your pass online. It should have bar codes printed on it. Just show them that at the parking booth. They scan it just as if it was a pass and you get your Platinum parking. Assuming it works the same way passes purchased for KD do. Which I imagine has got to be standard across all parks at this point.
Thunderhead
You could just get your Platinum Pass at KD I suppose, I know we are processing passes now at Guest Services.

I bought the pass at Cedar Point at the end of last season (not online) so I did not get a PDF...only a receipt and a form to fill out with my name address, phone, etc. The receipt has a bar code label on it, so I'm hoping that it will be sufficient enough to get me in the gates.
