DerekRx
So today my girlfriend was acting crazy, so I had to break up with her. Thankfully I still have my beer! Derek MUCH happier! Remembers very little about girlfriend (or much else for that matter) Derek drinks beer.... Derek with beer in hand = happier Luckily, the Troeg brothers brewed up something for me, a Pale Ale This is a sad Derek look after he has to break up with his girlfriend because she's mad because he had fun without her, even though he invited her to the festivities. "What will I do without her!?"
DerekRx
Derek goes back to his one true love... Life is good again! Hop Devil is perfectly fine with Derek taking pictures of it outside its bottle Hop Devil! Look at the happy couple

Rugged One
That's right. Dogs and good beers are truelly Man's best friends. More Great Divide goodness tonight. Great Divide Hot Shot ESB. Nice hoppy bitterness to this one.
4718
Had a couple Alaskan Winter Ales and the oddball Alaskan Summer Ale to go with 'em a couple nights ago, Winters were pretty good, but I think the Summer was a bit better. All this talk of the Sierra Nevada Celebration being so good makes me wanna pick up some, that Warstiner sounds good too. Super Bowl was pretty special too, so we picked up a keg from Beverages and More that morning. Of course, it was only a mini keg, and more than that it was only Virgil's Cream Soda........but boy was it darn good!
robbeal
Why do I only ever come on here when I have a beer in my hand. Is it something about TPR, or am I always drinking? Anyway, i've got a can of Miller to my left *gestures*

DerekRx
^Well in that case, pull up a chair! We're starting off tonight with some California dreaming. Imagine celebrating the season in the Sierra Nevada's, drinking one heck of a good seasonal ale, 'cause thats what I'm doing now! Sadly, it may be sunny, but it sure ain't warm, and its pretty winter-like outside. Oh well, at least I'm at home drinking a beer, and not at work! Ooooh it looks so purty with the sun shining on it

DerekRx
Time to reaquaint my palete with the taste of Lancaster Milk Stout, a beer I first remember being pretty tasty at the beer festival back in November. Its a pretty good stout. At least this one doesn't require an ice cream sandwich to give it flavor. Yes, after my first beer of the evening, I decided to cut my hair. But back to the beer in hand... Its got a cow on it.....oooh and its brewed with Lactose, something I'm allergic to! This should be fun.
4718
Well Derek, I guess you have a disciple........I got a six pack of Victory's Imperial Storm King Stout tonight. Started off with the smell.....yeah, it's beer, but the best part......the taste.......good, really good in fact. I think this is one of my new favorites, very dark, super easy to drink, smooth, and just the right amount of bitterness........it's a winner in my book! In fact, I downed 3 of the 12oz'ers before having any effect, right I'm pretty happy and almost ready for bed because of the 9.1% alcohol rating, by far the strongest beer I've ever had. I'm pretty relaxed now though from that lovely percentage.......he he....happy land, population: me! Actually, at Beverages and More, it was a toss up between the Victory Storm King Stout and a six pack of Paulaner Salvator Double Bock. I've had the Savlator and loved it, but the Storm King was in the refrigerated section, so it won out even though it was a new one......didn't really feel like having to chill the Salvator to tell the truth. DerekRx
Hooray for disciples! Today I found out some great news for my Oktoberfest trip, so it was only fitting that I celebrate with an Oktoberfest type beer. I was also seeking a good beer to use in making beer bread. I took care of both tasks with one quick trip to the beer fridge! So happy I've got a spot in a beer tent in Munich! Victory's Festbier, not as good as the Dark Lager, but better than the Regular Lager
Pelydr
Im jealous of some of you guys, back east there seems to be more variety of local stuff than I can easily find here. Derek especially has a lot of tasty looking brews. First time trying this beer and its not bad at all!
DerekRx
I've been inspired tonight: I'm calling it a night. Peace out homeys. w00t! Definitely one of my top 5 beers This one's for my disciples all over the world!
Rugged One
Well, it's that time of the month again. Beer release Wednesday at the DuClaw Brewing Co. This month's release is the Naked Fish Chocolate Raspberry Stout. This was a very light stout but damn if it wasn't good. You can definitely taste and smell the raspberry more than the chocolate. Everytime I would lift the glass to my lips, I was like "holy crap, this beer smells good!" So good in fact that I had three glasses while watching LOST. But heh, it's a growler and you have to drink it fast. Get Naked! Growler goodness from DuClaw. The Naked Fish Chocolate Raspberry Stout.
4718
Derek, I hate to say it, but those pics bring back bad memories from last night. For whatever reason, I woke up at about 2am, nonchalantly walked to the bathroom, shut the door, and puked my guts out in the toilet. And, just in case you were wondering, Victory Storm King Stout does NOT taste good the "second time around"! I still don't know why I puked, and still felt crappy all day today, and even a little now......maybe it was the 9.1% alcohol? I don't know, but it may have even been food poisoning, or just side effects from the prescriptions........it sucked though.
waterviper
^This isn't the "puke" thread!!!!!!!!!!! I have now taken decipleship under Derek!! I get drunk looking at your posts Derek!!!
DerekRx
Naked Fish is awesome stuff, Heath! We had some a few years ago at the Post Eastcoaster Party when Walt brought some up. Unfortunately, because they moved Eastcoaster ahead a week, we missed out on it again this year. If they bottled that stuff, I'd be having it all the time! As far as the Storm King goes, yeah, 9.1% is a little high to be consuming 3 of them in a short amount of time. You must learn the gifts of pacing, savoring the flavoring, and enjoyment of the current beer, not worrying about the next one. Until you have learned these key techniques, I am going to be forced to take the Storm King away from you. Don't worry, I won't drink all of them I'm still not certain what I'll drink tonight, but it'll be good!
DerekRx
OK, didn't take me long once I got home to find something worth drinking (you'd think I had lots of beer floating around or something!) Decided to start off easy with something I've never had before, the Lancaster Gold Star Pilsner. Pretty good all around crisp beer, very easy to drink, not too hoppy, more malty but not too malty, just a nice balance. Not too bad, extremely easy to drink! (I think I finished it in 4 minutes, not chugging!) If they gave these gold stars for getting 100% on tests, I bet more kids would study harder! PhishyBrewer
^How the hell do you stay so thin Derek? I have maybe one beer a day. And with you.... well, it's more than me.
DerekRx
My usual is 2 a day, unless I'm training for some special drinking event. I guess I stay thin thanks to good genetics and the metabolism of a hummingbird. If I don't drink my weight in beer each day, I'll die. Though I chose a Celebration Ale. For dinner I made some fondue with a white wine. The gf had some zinfandel to drink with it.
CoasterFanatic
Which girlfriend? The one you ditched? Anyways ... it has been a while since my last "picture" post, so here we go. "F**k all you guys with your fancy beers!" said Crazy Dave. "I drink my beer from a plastic cup!" Our next beer was the Lancaster Milk Stout. A very good stout with a very modest finish. We also had the bottle of Lagunitas. This beer was definately up there with the Dogfish IPA and Three Floyds Alpha King (Two of my faves). After sampling the bottle chill with the dog on top of the fridge until a place is found on the "Beer Wall" for t Jeff was diggin' on the Hibernation Ale. Next up was a bottle of Great Divide's Hibernation Ale. This beer was very excellent. Smooth with a chocolate malt compliment. Tonight was pool league night, so we all headed over to John's place afterwards. The first beer of the night was a tasting of Wally's Holiday Golden Lager Beer. Not too bad, but it just doesn't have that "craft" taste. Still, a very tasty beer. Wally gets his own shelf. Well ... he did have to share it with a bottle of Arogant Bastard and Rogue Chocolate Stout, but I think they are worthy neighbors. Another addition to the fridge this weekend was courtesy of Northampton Tom (DorneyDude). Muchos Gracias for the Flying Fish, Lancaster and Weyerbacher! Now time to get them in the "Basement Beer Fridge of Doom" Yay! The killer package has been unwrapped! Obviously, Wally has noticed my love for all things Pale Ale. ... and Wally has great taste in packaging material! A well put together package it was. All of the beers were individually wrapped ... The package came last Friday, but since I was busy getting my EastCoaster thang on, I wasn't able to open it till Sunday.

Unfortunately, because they moved Eastcoaster ahead a week, we missed out on it again this year. If they bottled that stuff, I'd be having it all the time! Yeah, I'm realing digging the Naked Fish. It's probably one of my favorite DuClaw selections now. It's so good, that I think I'm going to head down there on Sunday and pick up another growler full. Allrighty, the Troegs Nugget Nectar has finally hit stores, so I picked up a six pack to see how it differed from what I tasted in the brewery sample room the other week. Surprisingly, it was quite different. At the brewery, it had a very citrus taste but was not very hoppy. In the bottle, it is the complete opposite. Some nice citrus accents with a big hop bite. As a matter of fact, this is probably the most hoppy beer I've experienced from Troegs. Which makes me very happy. Troegs Nugget Nectar. Hop Heads rejoice! DerekRx
^^Nope, a whole new girlfriend, who actually likes rock music and the occasional beer (and NOT Coors Lite, etc!) Its only been 3 dates (in 3 days), but she seems like a keeper, especially when she got excited about me having HopDevil!
