I will be visiting CP on June 9th and 10th. We are staying at the Breakers, and getting a package that includes Starlight tickets, CP General Admission tickets, and Buy-One-Get-One-Free coupons for Soak City.

We plan on using the Starlight tickets on the 9th, and GA tickets on the 10th.

I've researched Soak City a bit, but can't find any detailed reviews of it. I see that it hasn't been updated since 2004, though. My question is, considering we have the coupons to use, is Soak City worth taking the time to visit during our trip?

Jacob, my friend that we are taking with us, likes good water parks, as do I, but I'm having a hard time deciding what to do about Soak City... I mainly want to make sure that we have time to do everything we want at Cedar Point during our stay.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It's really just okay at best. It has the basics (wave pool, lazy river, tube/body slides, and a raft ride), but there is nothing that makes it unique of stand out from other water parks. If I remember correctly, there isn't much to do, so you probably won't spend much time there. It is still a nice way to cool off, but it can't compare to other water parks at amusement parks like Splashin Safari or SFGAM's Hurricane Harbor. So just tell your friend not to get his hopes up because just because it is at Cedar Point, that doesn't mean that Soak City is a good water park.

The water play structure was added in 2004, and other than that, I doubt anything has been added since the 80s.

It's a fun waterpark, but nothing to write home about. I'd say worth spending half a day at, nothing more. I buy that same package every year and my SC coupons always go to waste.

I say go for it!

Last summer when my family and I went to Cedar Point for two days in June we got these buy-one-get-one-free tickets also. The first day we used as a credit run, and the second day we went to Soak City for about 3 hours in the late afternoon after spending the morning in the park. We went back into the park in the evening. Overall, it's a pretty decent waterpark. The lines on most of the slides were all short and I was quite impressed with the overall quality of the place considering all the negativity I had previously heard about it.

I had time to do everything in the main park I wanted (all the coasters, the main flats like Maxair, Skyhawk, both water rides, the sky tower, and even time for quite a re-rides on the best coasters) - without feeling rushed at all.

I wish you the best of luck.

If it was free, maybe. But not at the price it costs to get in there. Even at half price I wouldn't even consider it. There's just not a whole lot there that interests me.

There's parks with free water parks that put Soak City to shame, so I really don't quite get paying full admission for it.

The wavepool near Magnum was extreme fun you get air in the free tubes and who doesn't want to watch Magnum all day? Lol. There is also a fast-paced lazy river over there that is fun. Over-all I had fun at Soak City but I went back into the park later. It's not an entire day thing but you should give it a try!

One of the biggest problems with Soak City are the lifeguards. There not bad at all (in fact great) but they are attached to their whistles a little too much. When in the wave pool, if you get 5 seconds without a whistle being blown, you're lucky.

Hurray for 100 posts

I forgot about that! The "extreme" lazy river is a blast!

I've never actually been in it, but just the looks of it make it seem like paying anything is too much.

It doesn't look like anything spectacular and doesn't seem to really offer any unique slides.

Maybe I've been spoiled with a park that offers a free water park, but I don't think I'd ever pay for a water park that is attached to a park.

Out of all the times I've been to Cedar Point, I've only been to Soak City twice. It's pretty good water park. The wave pool is kinda small (still better than Boomerang Bay at KI). The family raft ride is pretty good. I rode that slide the most. They do have a lazy river if you just want to relax. They also have a fast moving lazy river type thing that is more like rapids which was actually pretty cool. I would say one day leave the Point and go to Soak City for 3 or 4 hours, then go back into the park. I did that once it made the day even more enjoyable than it already was.

If you're staying multiple days, and it's really hot, and you count waterslide credits.... then do it.

If this doesn't describe your situation, then I'd grab a second ride on MF, Maverick, and TTD which you could do in the time it takes to do Soak City in its entirety.

^Wait...are you telling me that people count water slide credits? LOL, that's a new one...

^ I'm sure there are waterslide enthusiasts the same way there are coaster enthusiasts. I know of a couple people on these boards that count darkrides, too! People like different things. I think counting waterslides isn't that different from counting coasters. It all depends on what you enjoy.

For the slide selection in Soak City, I honestly don't see how they can justify charging a separate admission price, let alone a price as steep as it is. None of the slides are really all that great, and they're all old. Renegade River is fun, but that's about the best thing they have. I would absolutely pass on it and get extra rides on the coasters, or some of the flats you otherwise wouldn't have time to ride. Besides, you said you were staying at Breakers - if you need a cool-off, just hit the pool at the hotel. It's about the same thrill- and fun-factor, and it's free.

I went there for the first time last season, I was severely disappointed by it. It's a whole bunch of overhyped, normal waterslides! I'd rather stay at a Kalahari resort and go on their slides then go in there again!

Just my opinion though.

You think your so called "Best Amusement Park" would have the Best Waterpark too but no.

When the park hasn't updated the waterpark with modern slides, of course it's not going to have THAT title.

What do you say to that? HUHHHH?

It's their responsibility to add slides to their waterpark as often as they add rides to their park. Proslide Tornados don't fall out of the sky.

-That's what I say to that!

Wait...isn't CP like the trash can, cement capital of the amusement industry with a bunch of over-hyped coasters? Any real coaster enthusiast knows Cedar Point is lame - let alone their water park with their outdated slides!!!!
