traincrossin Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Memorial Day has always been an iffy day to go to the park. It's either crowded or completely empty. There were some crowds, but they didn't stop the fun that was had. The crews were working hard, but they were sending lots of empty seats *cough* Raging Bull *cough*. I was lucky enough to be able to hang out with Big Mike and the crew which was lots of fun! I met a lot of great and new friends that day. Around noon I was able to ride Buccaneer Battle for the first time, unfortunately I forgot to take any pictures of it (doh!) Overall it's a great ride! I had a boat all to myself and can imagine how much more competition there will be once the boats are full. Needless to say, I got soaked. The theming was pretty good, except I was on the side of the boat facing the midway so most of it was on the other side of the boat. Even though no one was on the ride, there were still lots of people firing at me from the midway. My only real complaint would be that the targets didn't really seem to do anything. If it's hot in the summer, I would definitely ride it again! Finally, I don't know if it was just a great crew or if they just wanted to go home, but the Superman crew was kicking some serious a$$! I was seriously impressed and I wish every crew was like them and it's not just because they were playing some awesome music. [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=Superman_crew_app5[/coastertube] Onto some pics! The last ride for today was Superman. Again, awesome crew! I had a great time hanging out with Big Mike and everyone at Great America! Thanks for reading! Look Six Flags. I know you need the money, but seriously? Usually I ride IW in the fornt row to prevent headbanging. I rode it in the third row this time and it hurt, bad. I really don't know what to say about this Some serious spinning action on Chubasco! Twisty Yea, might want to fix that roof so the rain doesn't get in Overview Turnaround Through the trees! And now, random Raging Bull pics. This is a new Guitar Hero type game This is BEFORE the ride. It broke down while we were in line. The ride op said that there was something on the track. But while they were testing, I could hear the truck horn so I was dissapointed that it didn't work when we rode. But the disco lights on the brake run were pretty cool. I hadn't told my friends anything about the ride. Needless to say, they were dissapointed, especially after the sweet preshow. Surprisingly the line moved pretty fast Unfortunately, only half of the effects were working. The fire was off, the top of the pipes weren't lit so they weren't much of a headchopper, and the final truck didn't work. One of my friends had never been on The Dark Knight, and since it started raining a bit we thought TDK was the least likely to close. It has cool lights and it's made by Huss. What more do you want? Some Condor action Batman was CRUISING towards the end of the day! Superman: Ultimate Flight No Demon today Yup, Hurricane Harbor was empty! Todays crowds Some of the awesome friends I met, Griffin and JoJo! Big Mike has perfected his smile. Me? I have to work on it. I think I was focusing on the screen instead of the lens. Can you spot Big Mike? Viper was screeching today. Last time it was pretty silent. I guess the oil or whatever wore off pretty fast. Random story: while the train was going out of the station, the ride op stopped the train when it was halfway out and said "There is absolutely no high fiving across the air gates at Six Flags" just in a really strict way. Not the biggest deal, but I was kinda surprised. I LOVE back row on Viper! Yup, buttons and knobbly bits While I was wating for the gang, I took a couple pics of Giant Drop's control panel. If you know what this stands for, you're a nerd! Oh yea, Hurricane Harbor was open to. If you don't mind the cold, go now and avoid the lines! Walking back from lunch, it was back to normal. I liked how Six Flags had the flags at half mast. But what are those people doing on the top of Sky Trek? The blue side did open up later in the day Yup, the line is still there. Well that explains it. Only the red side was running. I have NEVER seen a line for Eagle go over the bridge before! American Eagle. By this time, the crowds were catching up with us. Done and done Fiddler's Fling next. I was dizzy afterwards To bad they havn't fixed the holding brake yet Next up was V2. I was glad to ride because it wasn't open the last time I was here Always a fun ride The crew in front of Batman Because Big Mike is here! First up was Ragin Cajun. Why? Here we are again! It got cloudy, but that didn't seem to stop the crowds.
kumba830 Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Great trip report! Good to hear you all had a great time. Now every time I hear about how great the trip was from one of you. It makes me so angry my plans to go that day fell trough! Maybe next time.... Edit: Just watched the video... Dang that crew was flying!
CoasterGuy06 Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Holy crap! That S:UF crew video was awesome to see.
cycamps Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 The Superman crew was freakin' fast! I wasn't expecting to see that.
GriffyTiffy Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Great pictures! I had a fun time with you and everyone else!
YoshiFan Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 That line for the Dark Knight looks crazy. I don't think I have ever seen the line for it at Great Adventure that long.
traincrossin Posted May 30, 2009 Author Posted May 30, 2009 ^And yet it didn't take to long to get through. It took maybe 25 minutes in that cue and it would have been 10 after the preshow if the ride didn't break down. It was raining outside, so that kind of explains why there were more people in line.
Big Mike Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 That was a great day!!! I like the "can you find Big Mike picture" The gold shirt is doing its job, which is making it easier to find me in group pics lol. Thanks for coming out and sharing a fun day together!!!! Peace, Big Mike
monsterfan99 Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Amazing to see the Dark Knight that full, most days this year it has been walk on. Also insane to see the American Eagle line that long as well. You know if they were running more then 1 train on the red side?
traincrossin Posted May 30, 2009 Author Posted May 30, 2009 ^Yes, Eagle red side was running both trains. The blue side opened up later in the day after Big Mike left. I had a great time hanging out with you Big Mike! It was cool to finally meet up with the big man himself. Same goes for both Griffin and JoJo!
traincrossin Posted May 30, 2009 Author Posted May 30, 2009 ^Oh my gosh, I totally forgot you guys! I'm so sorry, i'm just really bad with names. You guys were awesome to hang out with to!
PKI Jizzman Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 That was a great day!!! Jojo19799 Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 What me, Cameron and Matt don't count?? Actually Cameron and Matt count. If I remember correctly I somehow voted you out of the group and decided that if we were stuck on an island with no food, you'd be the first to go.
Voyage_freak Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 I am heading up to Great America next week, haven't been in about 3 years, so looking forward to it, need to get back on the Bull and American Eagle.
