triggernel
The concrete really does break up the asphalt quite nicely. I would imagine before that place would be about a 1000 degrees on a hot day.
coasterdude5
1984 10th Season  Good afternoon! We are approaching the busy (and warmer!) summer months and things are starting to heat up at Charleston Gardens Amusement Park. Have a great day and enjoy the update below!  - Joseph Reynolds   Charleston Railway has quietly closed for the rest of the season as a major re-routing is done. The train will no longer loop around the lake in front of the park but will rather do a quick pass by. Rumor around the office is that a second station will be added soon!   I don't think this was ever made known in the press release for Harbortown, but Scrambler was moved down the road literally a few yards to become part of Harbortown and to make way for Vulture's station.   Charleston Gardens Amusement Park skyline.   One last ride on Vulture for the day! triggernel
I like how you are taking things slow. The one thing that I didn't really love about HHE, was the amount of big rides always being added, or removed.
StarWars
I can't wait for the eventual hyper-coaster. This park's future seems very bright. I hope it survives through the 90's and 00's.

coasterdude5
1984 10th Season  Hello, it is a sad day here around Charleston Gardens Amusement Park. I regret to inform you that Carolina Calamity will be closing at the end of this month so that it may be removed by the end of the season. We had heard whispers of this coming from our parent company, Funtime Parks, Inc. but nothing was confirmed until this morning. The removal of this ride will make for a yet-to-be-announced expansion of the park for next season. The ride will remain open for two more weeks - I suggest if you have not gotten the chance to experience this fun family coaster yet, do so soon.  - Joseph Reynolds   This is Carolina Calamity's tenth and final season of operation.   Carolina Calamity was the only coaster at Charleston Gardens Amusement Park when it opened in 1975. It is a product of Arrow, the same company behind Vulture. Edited January 31, 2015 by coasterdude5
Squid
Will you have a download up for the park in it's current state before Calamity is removed? It seems a shame... Calamity is a great coaster from the look of things. I like that drop under the station... really, really nice. Â Squid
StarWars
Ah, I knew this might happen. I bet you are be having the path continue through the graveyard of Carolina Calamity and then turn a sharp right towards Harbortown. Could this be the elusive Water park? Or maybe a family-themed area?
coasterdude5
1984 10th Season  It's been a somber past couple of days with the announcement of Carolina Calamity's coming closure. The coaster has had up to three hour waits as of late, something that is unheard of on any normal occasion.  - Joseph Reynolds   A group gathers outside of Carolina Calamity's entrance before the ride opens.   In a piece of brighter news, Vulture is still attracting a good crowd.   A Vulture train plunges towards the water.   Vulture's queue line. coasterdude5
1984 10th Season  Carolina Calamity has only a few more days. Though the ride has only been around for ten years, it represents the starting point for the growth that this park has seen in the past decade. We have gone from this small ride to giants such as Derecho and Vulture.  - Joseph Reynolds   Carolina Calamity's queue line opens for the morning.   Carolina Calamity was the tallest (and only) coaster in the park when it opened.   The midway at Charleston Gardens Amusement Park Edited January 31, 2015 by coasterdude5

triggernel
I posted this on YouTube, but I love the mix of the old and the new coasters. Â I also just love the way your parks glow, especially the double Ferris Wheel.
coasterdude5
1984 10th Season  Today was Carolina Calamity's final day of operation. It is a shame to see the ride go, it will be greatly missed.  - Joseph Reynolds   The train makes its final run around the track.   Unfortunately the ride is not as smooth as it once was.   The train prepares to plunge into the tunnel.   Through the tunnel...   Goodbye Carolina Calamity, I'm sure you'll be many people's all-time favorite ride for many years to come.. coasterdude5
1984 10th Season  The time has come for us to say goodbye to Carolina Calmity.  - Joseph Reynolds   Some employees were treated to one last ride late afternoon two days ago before demolition began.   By the next morning signage had already been removed.   Demolition began mid-afternoon yesterday..   By this morning many pieces of track were being hauled off to the scrap yard. Due to the ride's shape, it was impossible to move it to another Funtime property.   Nearly everything was gone in a matter of days. CorkscrewFoley
Well I'm sad to see Calamity gone...Is there a chance that you'll sell off small parts of it, or maybe a tribute to it? I do hope she is being replaced by more lovely Arrow goodness.
Twister II
Well I'm sad to see Calamity gone...Is there a chance that you'll sell off small parts of it, or maybe a tribute to it? I do hope she is being replaced by more lovely Arrow goodness. Id much rather see his time spent working on themeing and making the park better than waist time filming and editing a video for a small little ride.
