Royal Caribbean Expands Oasis of the Seas Inaugural Season

Royal Caribbean International has announced two additional sailings to the Oasis of the Seas’ inaugural season -- a seven-night Eastern Caribbean itinerary departing Dec. 5, 2009, and a special four-night voyage departing Dec. 1, 2009 -- to celebrate the launch of a new Labadee, Royal Caribbean’s private beach in Haiti. On the Dec. 5 inaugural voyage, guests will receive a commemorative certificate to mark the occasion. The seven-night itinerary will call at St. Thomas, St. Maarten, and Nassau in the Bahamas. Guests booked on the original inaugural sail date of Dec. 12 will be contacted by their travel agent or a Royal Caribbean representative and given the opportunity to move their cruise vacation to the new inaugural sailing of Dec. 5 before the sailing opens to the public for booking on Jan. 12, 2009. During the re-accommodation period, which ends on Jan. 11, 2009, the following special benefits will apply: Guests choosing to sail consecutively on the Dec. 1 and 5 voyages will receive a $200 onboard credit per stateroom ($300 onboard credit per suite) for an 11-night Oasis of the Seas cruise. Booked guests who wish to take the Dec. 1 or 5 sailing will be re-accommodated in the same stateroom and category. The cruise fare for the Dec. 5 sailing will remain unchanged. Guests wishing to sail on the four-night voyage will receive a prorated fare.

On the four-night itinerary, guests will make a call at Labadee and have two days at sea. The Oasis of the Seas maiden port of call at Labadee on Dec. 3 also will herald the opening of new facilities and the debut of an array of activities and excursion options at the private beach destination. The ship will dock at Labadee’s new pier (currently under construction), which leads guests through a grand entry to the welcome plaza. Water taxis and five walking paths, trails and avenues will take guests from the welcome plaza to many areas throughout the peninsula, including the new Dragon’s Plaza, Labadee Town Square and Columbus Family Beach, all currently under development. Sea-based excursions, including a new fast boat tour, also will depart from the welcome plaza.

At the north end of the peninsula, Dragon’s Plaza will be the heart of Labadee and feature the Dragon’s Breath Café and Pub, a welcome center and a central tram station, which will ferry guests to other areas of the peninsula. Guests booked on the Dragon’s Breath Flight Line, the world’s longest zip-line over water, also will begin their excursion here. At the base of the peninsula, Labadee Town Square will offer guests cultural experiences, shopping, dining and entertainment, featuring the Haitian Cultural Museum, Café Labadee and Bar, and the Straw and Artisan Market. From the Town Square, guests will board the new Alpine Coaster, a new roller coaster. On Columbus Family Beach, guests can enjoy lunch and refreshments at the Columbus Café and Bar. Guests also can rent private family cabanas. To book or for more information, call 800-327-2056 or visit www.cruisingpower.com . So basically, you don't have to go on Oasis of the Seas, but any Royal Caribbean ship that goes to Labadee. I believe that Royal Caribbean and Celebrity are the only cruise lines that have access to this private area of Haiti.

Oh, I TOTALLY don't count this!!!

Although maybe I will count it just to spite all of the land lovers out there that didn't like my TPR Cruise idea!!!!

Should be fun!

^^Remember, she was referring to Jeff Johnson when calling it a "credit", and remember Jeff counts all sorts of things as credits, including the time he first saw the wheel being demonstrated, also known as the time period Jeff refers to as "middle age".

Is an alpine coaster classified as one of those 1 or 2 person toboggan things on a metal slide?

If so, we have them down here - ka-ching, that's two more Jeff Johnson credits in the kitty. Also if I want to drive 5 hours south we have our own park called Magic Mountain with another toboggan and even an actual coaster.

Don't they turn people into zombies in Haiti and not those trendy Romero shopping mall zombies either?

I can't think of anything more fun than a TPR cruise!!! and to be able to get a semi-credit, well that would just be icing on the cake!

Celebrity cruises are great I took one to Alaska and loved the ship!

I do know for a fact, that even as stupid and old as he is, Jeff Johnson does NOT count any "Alpine Slides".

The idea of a TPR cruise trip DOES sound intreguing...despite one thing-

The potential motion sickness of those of us who get -very- seasick!

(But the idea DOES sound cool....so long as Dramamine is passed out first!)

Because I'm 18 and Royal Carribean's policy is that you must be 21 or over to book a cruise on their ships, does this mean I'm ineligible to come?

I've been excited for Oasis of The Seas for years. Back to the days when it was called "Project Genesis".

The RCCL website shos just how amazing this ship will be.

I just remembered the last cruise I went on, and it was on the the actual boat they used in The Love Boat, it was an orgy so depraved it would have made Caligula blush. No coasters though.

If we actually did a real group cruise I could get 18 year olds on no problem. Under 18 though would be much more difficult.

I used to get seasick on cruises but I don't anymore, I think you just get used to motion the more you do it (air, car, sea, etc.) I would totally recommend bringing "Less Drowsy Dramamine" or "Bonine" though cause those worked great when I used to get sick.

And yes, it would be awesome!

If you guys ever do get a TPR Cruise together!! Keep me posted.

I've never been and would love to someday!

I could get me some Alpine Love too!!! Sounds like Fun!!!

I've been on 3 Royal Caribbean Cruises, and have had only 1 instance of the ship doing a little more rocking and rolling then your average vehicle on the highway.

I've been to Labadee, Haiti twice on these cruises and it was a Blast even before the revamped version. Now I HAVE to get back there. Alpine Slide, here I come.

That would be soooooooooooo totally awesome to do a TPR cruise.

hmm… i've never been on an “alpine coaster” before, but, after looking into them, i have to ask: why don't they count as a credit? i guess everyone has their own definitions of what does and does not count, and why, but, as far as i can tell, they fit my definition completely (because they roll and coast over a majority of their course — or am i wrong about that?) guess i'm more of a credit whore than i thought!

still, i honestly can't see myself going on a cruise ship, even for a credit…
