alia2001
I was thinking about attending the 40th Haunted Mansion bash on 9/9/09. I thought it would be cool to go since it will also be my birthday. Was curious if anyone else was thinking about attending or if anyone had anymore info about this event, other then the info found online. I have never been to an event like this so call me strange but I'm actually excited about it. Any help would be appreciated.
J man
You might want to check out the podcast on Mousetalgia.com. Their most recent podcast, episode 12, has a bunch of info on the Haunted Mansion 40th event. On a side note, does anyone else think that it's awesome that it's on 9-9-09? Cause I do. nay
I've been looking into going to this as well, since I was planning on being at Disneyland during that week anyway and Haunted Mansion is probably my favorite ride ever. I'm not into pin trading and stuff like that though, so I'm trying to figure out if this is actually worth it for me. I came across the merchandise that they're going to have available: http://www.register123.com/event/profile/web/index.cfm?PKwebID=0x151184125e&varPage=home Some of the stuff is very cool, but I don't know that I'd actually buy any of it. The only thing that I really want is the sneakers!
nursemelis374
I am really considering attending, I frequently regret not going to these events! Sounds really cool too.
alia2001
Hey J Man thanx for the tip on Mousetalgia.com great site. I too am thrilled about the date. How often does an event like this fall on a date that represents 999 Happy Haunts. Of course it doesn't hurt that its also my Birthday. Hope all can go who wants to it sounds like its going to be a blast. Count me in!
BuschSchoe
I've never really heard of a theme park recoginizing the 40th anniversary of a single ride/attraction... but hey, I could be wrong.

BuschSchoe
... but hey, I could be wrong. And you are. I'd be interested to know what attractions/rides that have had their 40th anniversary recoginized.
packfanlv
I've never really heard of a theme park recoginizing the 40th anniversary of a single ride/attraction... but hey, I could be wrong. Not many theme parks have been around for 40 years let alone have classic attractions that have lasted that long. Besides, Disney loves to celebrate everything because of the nostalgia and of course, the merchandise!
Wes
I'd be interested to know what attractions/rides that have had their 40th anniversary recoginized. I know Pirates and Small World had them.
alia2001
So I went online to order my tickets and they were SOLD OUT!! Could this be a mistake or did I mess up by not ordering the morning they went on sale! How could they go so fast!!

Not only has Disney done this, but I know that Cedar Point had an event for Magnum's 10th, and Gemini's 25th.
SuperShawn
I spent at hour today trying to get tickets, the site was constantly full and experienced a lot of down time as well. By noon they were sold out. Way to go Disney with being prepared for a high amount of traffic on the web site. The Itineraries are viewable on the website just if your curious as to were all the events are going to be at and to get a hint of what they are doing. socalMAN123
I love the Haunted Mansion and I'm glad that they are doing something for it. It is probably my favorite dark ride ever, I really do enjoy it. The merch on that website looks awesome, I might have to look into buying some next time I'm at the park. ---Brent

Could this be a mistake or did I mess up by not ordering the morning they went on sale! How could they go so fast!! That's really too bad that you couldn't get tickets. I too was hoping to go because my birthday is also on September 9th. My birthday is actually 09/09/90, so this would've been an awesome way to celebrate it. I guess we'll have to find a new way to celebrate this awesome date...
Meli
Were any of you who tried to order tickets to this event pass holders? I was wondering if they had the upper hand over reserving.

Not only has Disney done this, but I know that Cedar Point had an event for Magnum's 10th, and Gemini's 25th. And Gemini's 30th this past summer complete with disco balls and special red or blue uniforms for the day. They also celebrated the Cedar Point & Lake Erie Railway's 45th Birthday (did you know CP has traded engines with Disneyland?)
nay
Were any of you who tried to order tickets to this event pass holders? I was wondering if they had the upper hand over reserving. It took me about 10 minutes of reloading the page, but I was finally able to get through and got a "Hitchhiker" ticket to the event. I have an AP, and though I did have to log into the Disney website, I didn't have to give any AP info.
speedracer
According to the OC Register, some of the packages sold out within mintues! Check out these additional cool collectibles.
