Crazy4Coasters! Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 ^ And one more quick fact, there were 2 teams the Lakers did not win their season series with, the Magic and the others... the Bobcats. LOL! I'm not goning to sweat it though as long as the Lakers understand that anymore of these erratic games are no longer acceptable... and never were!!!
Mechanic Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Odom seems to be a big key to how erratic the Lakers can be. The guy's a total stud when he's on his game, and the rest of the team feeds off of his energy. He's just so hot and cold though. If I were Phil, I'd be directing a whole bunch of the zen master power into getting Odom's psyche ready for the games ahead. We already know Kobe's automatic. Everybody else seems to go how Odom goes to a large degree. Get him on the right track and everything else will fall into place. Â Something I really liked was how serious the team was during the post game presentation of the Western Conference trophy. They weren't even in the "Just happy to be in the finals." mode. They completely had that "We aren't done yet." vibe going on. It's cool when you don't have to ask them how focused they are, because you can see it.
Homeboy23 Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Congrats to the Lakers. Now come on Magic! Put an end to the Kobe vs LeBron talk!
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted May 31, 2009 Author Posted May 31, 2009 Congratulations to the Orlando Magic, who have proven to be the beasts from the east, and making Mo Williams look like the douche he is. No one is happier than me in the wake of the Cavs' defeat. They weren't that good, they struggled with good teams in the regular season and got extremely lucky with two subpar teams in their first two series in the playoffs. I can't emphasize this enough. The Cavaliers weren't that good. All that hype ans felt puppets for nothing.
Homeboy23 Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Yes!! No more Kobe-Lebron talk! I can watch the finals in peace.
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted June 1, 2009 Author Posted June 1, 2009 ^It will instead be a trade-off of Kobe Vs. what would've happened if LeBron made it. Â Also, all of the "who's better?" talk is far from over....
bigstevet07 Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Coming soon to Cleveland, the 2009 LeBron James Farewell Tour. Hurry and get your tickets while you can!
BeemerBoy Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 <--------- Just happy that Nike has its own "Dan vs. Dave" now.
Hercules Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 ^ Does that mean they are going to start shooting commercials with LeBron sitting in a lounge chair, sipping on a cool, refreshing beverage with Kobe doing drippling drills around him?
BeemerBoy Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 When are these things gonna start making crank calls?
Wes Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 When are these things gonna start making crank calls? Â Or maybe the Lebron puppet will make calls to his agent puppet to find a way to get on a team with championship caliber talent.
BeemerBoy Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 Random thought here. I'm getting really tired of every analyst on TV calling out Lebron for not shaking hands after the game. When did shaking hands become a necessary event following the conclusion of an NBA playoff series? The NBA IS NOT the NHL. Â Is it not okay to hate losing? Is it not okay to despise your opponent during the battle anymore? I watched somewhere the other day when they brought up what Isiah Thomas and the Pistons did when they lost to Jordan's Bulls one year. Okay, that was bush league. What Lebron did (or didn't do) was not. Â He did nothing that was disrespectful to either Dwight Howard or the media. He reacted to a heartbreaking loss like any of us would.....yet, unlike many, he simply kept quiet. What's wrong with that? Â Just because the new generation of NBA players don't understand what it's like to live with heated rivalries doesn't mean they have to be buddy buddy with each other 24/7/365. It's OKAY to hate losing to each other. And it's OKAY to walk off the court in disgust after a tough loss. In the end, most people understand it's nothing personal between them. Â Funny, I don't remember any of the writers complaining about Bird and Magic not hugging it out after one or the other just won the championship. When did all these armchair quarterbacks with a laptop suddenly grow a conscience and feel it was wrong of Lebron to diss "his boy?" [/end rant]
Homeboy23 Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 Im just tired of hearing about LeBron period. Start talking about the Magic for once. They are the ones in the finals.
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 ^Yea, but it was a conspiracy that David Stern orchestrated to allow a plausible excuse for Lebron to sign with New York.
JFrombaugh Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 So it's Orlando VS LA, huh? Â Two of the most popular theme park destinations square off!!! LOL!
JT3000 Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Im just tired of hearing about LeBron period. Start talking about the Magic for once. They are the ones in the finals. Â Seriously. Everyone wants to talk about the Cavs losing, how LeBron reacted and what he's having for breakfast. I haven't seen a single article about the Magic's win. But I suppose writing such an article would mean those so-called "experts" would have to admit their own stupidity for pompously counting out the Magic completely.
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted June 4, 2009 Author Posted June 4, 2009 I suppose writing such an article would mean those so-called "experts" would have to admit their own stupidity for pompously counting out the Magic completely. Â Like when Stuart Scott said on an addition of NBA shootaround that the playoffs should end in the second round and give the title to Cleveland? Â Or that the Cavaliers were the hottest thing since sliced bread for sweeping two teams that would have had losing records if they weren't in sub par divisions? (Well, the pistons would have had a worse record) Â Or that Lebron James is King, despite the fact he has had one finals appearance, and has not one a single game therein? Â Or that Cleveland has a slightly above average team that is streaky at best and for some reason everyone's streak except LJ23's somehow fades awy in May? Â Despite the Magic knocking out the 1 and 2 seeds in the east, they're still looked at as underdogs, as if beating the Cavs is the biggest upset in the history of recorded sports. Orlando was a phenominal team in the regular season, and the stepped up they're play in the post season. That was something neither the Celtics (Rajon Rondo is the only Celtic to have brought his A game into the playoffs) and the Cavs only really had one playoff contender anyway, so all credit is due to the Magic. They stepped up their play as a team, progressively getting better each round, and they deserve to be where they are now. This is not an upset. This is the better team winning. We are just seeing a whole bunch of sour pusses whining because the favored team didn't win.
Hercules Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 I haven't really been keeping up with this thread so I don't really know if this has been brought up, but: Â Does anyone find it interesting that with the NBA's age requirement that, in the past 2 seasons, the headliners of the finals came into the league straight out of high school?
Mechanic Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Disneyland 1, Disney World 0. Â Entire 4th quarters that are garbage time make for a game that's not very fun to watch. Although I was very happy to see the Lakers play so cohesively, I'd really have preferred a closer game. I seriously doubt that Orlando will have another game where they shoot that poorly. Hopefully game 2 will be a better watch. On a positive note, I thought it was one of the better officiated games of this entire postseason.
Homeboy23 Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Orlando sucked it up last night while the Lakers played the way they can. The Magic shot what? 23-77? They couldn't hit anything.
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted June 5, 2009 Author Posted June 5, 2009 It was just a little stage fright. They'll bounce back on Sunday.
