No.... why? They can blow a few billion dollars in Iraq to take down a guy that one sniper could have easily taken care of, but they can't do anything about Social Security, or try to have national health care, or anything else that has to do with helping the people? It just seems slightly messed up to me.

Just a little... [ ]

Here is my thoughts on this topic....while my knee-jerk reaction is to close it simply because political topics usually end in a flame war, which ironically just proves the reasons why there is war in the world in the first place. But since the people on TPR seem to be fairly well behaved, I'm going to leave this open. If it gets ugly, it WILL be closed.

^That's another reason I don't like it. If they would have said from the start that we were going to take down Saddam I would've been okay with it, but they went over there telling everybody that it was because they had nuclear weapons which everybody knew was bull crap.

And now I get this bad feeling that they'll use Iran's nuclear power plant to go after them, as well.

^ It might have been crap, but everybody seemed to agree on it. Including: Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Al Gore, John Kerry, John Edwards, Robert Byrd, Henry Waxman, Tom Daschle, and Nancy Pelosi.

"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including Al Qaeda members, though there is apparently no evidence of his involvement in the terrible events of September 11, 2001. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons. Should he succeed in that endeavor, he could alter the political and security landscape of the Middle East, which as we know all too well affects American security." - Hillary Clinton

Well, we have to be in a war, we have a war-driven economy. Actually, there is no economy, it's all one giant illusion, just like hitler said;

"The bigger the lie, the more people who will beleive it."

The twisted mofo was right!

It depends on the state of Iraq in the future. It's it going to be a democracy or will be be another Sudaam like regime? I think it's too early to tell if the war was the right thing to do.

^^Don't even try to throw 9/11 in my face, because it doesn't really work, because I'm heartless and it didn't really bother me so much. Either way, if it was about 9/11 we would have either gone to Saudi or Iran.

^I agree with that. Now that they have that reason for going there, if it works or not will be the deciding factor.

^^^ I hope you're not refering to the twin towers.... Because last time I checked that tragic event had nothing to do with Saddam... I just think instead of blowing a cabillion dollars on war and worrying about some guy who never had guns in the first place, we should stop being arrogant and realize that we were wrong and pull out. But it seems like this country is founded on the almighty dollar instead of freedom. Seems like something else is going on behind the scenes instead of just protection from nuclear war. I wouldn't be surprised if this was all about money in the first place. All I know is I like being free (somewhat) and being able to choose my leader.... unless I live in Fl (miscount), or I'm disenfranchised (fresh out of jail). But hey everyone likes spending $2.30 a gallon on gas after we've invaded the country that provides more than 40 percent of oil to the world..........

Well, they were proven wrong, with the war.

It doesn't make the war any more ok.

Then we would lose ALL of our allies, leaving Iraq in the heap that it is. The mistake has been made. We now have to deal with babysitting and nurturing that country back to health.

You need to look at your history a little bit. You can't just pull-out. Once you have started, you have to finish.

// That sounded bad

Anyway. What kind of resolve do we show the rest of the world, when we pull out of Iraq and watch it become a fundamentalist government. If you think that Hussein was crazy, what do you think a Islamic Fundamentalist would be like with all of that oil money in his hands. Don't forget that a road trip with a pocketful of money to the former USSR will net you all kinds of good stuff.

Hussein might not have flown the plane into the Twin Towers (and if you didn't care, then surrender your US citizenship now), but he had the money and resources to aid a terrorist in planning MUCH worse attacks against the US.

I voted NO but as a Canadian, officially we are not members of the Coalition of the Willing.

There is no proven linkage between 9/11 and Iraq. There were no WofMD. The Iraq conflict, IMHO, is a continuation of Desert Storm for GWB to finish what his dad did not want to (or could not) finish.

I have travelled in the US quite a bit since 9/11 and I can really see how US media vs. Canadian media show a different point of view of what is going on. As much as it scares me, The Daily Show is probably more accurate than the major US-based media.

No that's off my chest, the NHL is back!!

I voted No.

Here's why: Why spend so much money blowing crap up and spend even more money rebuilding it afterward.

We have police and fire departments across the country laying-off people at an alarming rate yet we can spend billions elsewhere. Doesn't make sense to me. What's the purpose for Homeland security when this country is eating itself alive by its own out-of-control whackos, that due to budget cuts, never get dealt with?

Also, if we obviously know that we're dependant on themfor oil... why not invest large amounts into alternative energy sources instead drilling in Alaska for mimiscule amount of oil? It's obvious that the alternatives are out there, it just comes down to who will invest into it. The way I see it, some other SMART country will be the first make it happen, but then the US will just do it on a HUGE scale and claim they were the first.

I believe that we are doing what is right in Iraq, the Iraqi government isn't stable enough yet to be able to protect it's self from the insurgency. I also feel like our original occupation was completely justified becuase the Iraqi citizens were living in genocide. We stepped in because the innocent Iraqi's deserve freedom as much as any other person and they were not able to fight for themselves. I think fighting for innocent's freedom is a more than justifiable cause. Please remember these are my opinions and I not saying they are the only right ones in the world
